After School at the Mading Room
I've decided to take back my father in my life. But I still hesitate to forgive him for what he has done to me and my mother. Even Dad owes us a lot of apologies for what's been happening all our lives. Ever since my father left me and my mother, we've been struggling to rebuild the life we were meant to live. My mother worked hard all night to support both of us. At least I want you to know that over the years, we've been fighting for a life without him. Surely when dad came to the house yesterday, mom didn't tell me a word how
the suffering of our lives.
“Ed.. ed..,” someone's call made me realize. My back wiped the sweat on my forehead. I lifted my chin for a moment.
“What?”
“So I said until when did the power go out? If I think I will not be able to print files on the computer,” dumel Mayang with his pouting face.
“Yes, patience. Also called a dead light. I have said that you must have a flash so it does not depend on the same computer here.”
Mayang sighed.
“I am an orphan who lives with uncle and aunt here. So the pocket money from them is always me economical. Never mind the flash, my torn shoes have not been able to replace with new ones,” he said
half down. Suddenly I feel bad. I held her shoulder slowly. Mayang's face was raised.
“Sorry yes. Next time you can nyimpen file with my flash.”
“Is it really okay?” he said with sparkling eyes. I'm nodding. My hand took back the sheet on the carpet. Today the children successfully complete all their tasks. I read it carefully. Even the results of their typing also look neat. I correct it carefully and stay installed in the mading tomorrow morning.
The room became a bit quiet. Usually the room is crowded with children mading and pop music from the computer. Initially Mayang endak lighted the song from his cellphone, but it was left at home. I only have instrumental songs. I'm not sure if Mayang likes to hear it too. So the room became quiet.
“May,” call me, trying to open the conversation in the middle of reading. I don't know if Mayang heard me. I cleared my throat for a moment. Before continuing my words. “Have Afika ever greeted me first?”
Silent.
There's no answer. I'm looking. I saw Mayang still reading the sheet he was holding. ‘Duh, embarrassing! Why am I suddenly asking like this?!’ I immediately scratched the head that was not itching.
“Who?” tanyanya. ‘Well, you know, it turns out he heard!’
“Afika. The girl who is the same class as us in the tenth grade was first,” obviously I tried to remind. Mayang seemed to think hard. Then he replied –ooh.
“Did he often look greeting me first?” ask me again with caution. Mayang lowered the paper he was holding.
“Ndon't know, yes. You are called, even ask me,” then he continues reading. I hissed no crap. ‘Not that we often walk together huh? So maybe you heard dong when Afika greeted me. Basic Mayang, so cute!’
‘YO! ONOK CHAT, YO! TEKO SOPO?! DELOKEN DEWE,YO!’
I was surprised by the voice just now. I'm looking. I saw that Mayang could not hold back his laughter. He chuckles until he's crumpled. I immediately picked up the phone lying not far from me.
“OATH! Where do I think the sound is from?! New ringtone huh?” ask her while holding back a laugh. I nodded my head with a half-ashamed face.

...Miwon's...
Sis, I've dnggu d dpn mading room. Cptan y, GPL!
I patted the teardrop hard. ‘Gosh! I forgot that after school I had an appointment to eat with Miwon and Dad!’ I immediately grabbed the backpack on the table. Mayang.
“Where are you going? My life is that?”
“Sorry, May, sorry! This afternoon I really have important business,” I said half begging. “I ask you to correct everything yes. continue when you finish, you just chat I did, okay?!”
“But.. Ed..,” I'm out of the room immediately. Maybe this is the first time I've left the responsibility as chief mading. But that's because there are things more important than mading. I breathed a sigh of relief.
“Kak, have you finished?” I saw Miwon sitting on the stairs facing the mading door. I smiled while nodding my head. “Yuk, sis. I've been waiting in front of the gate.”

Afika, Hami and Timmy are playing pillow fight in the room. As usual, Afika and Hami took the time to play at Timmy's house every time they went home from school. The uniforms they wear are taken out. It's already school hours. There's no harm
Afika and Hami looked at each other with secret smiles. As if talking to each other through the heart. Hami signals with blinking eyes. Afika nodded her head confidently. The two of them immediately dribbled and hit Timmy's body with a pillow. Timmy instead laughed out loud while blocking their blow with the pillow he was holding.
“Mhuahahaa.. I nyeraahhh!!!” screams later. Hami and Afika stopped immediately. The three of them laughed at the same time. Timmy just dropped his body on the bed. And so did his two friends. The three lie with their heads held together. They laugh again.
“Capek really yes,” said Hami on the sidelines of irregular breathing. Afika nodded. “I haven't thought of a girl character that matches the guy figure that I've made,” he said again. Timmy pursed his lips forward.
“Definitely make shoujo manga yes?!” guess it. Hami nodded quickly.
“Once in a while make a manga genre action or thriller is good, Mi. No love trus.”
“Maybe I made the character like you did it! Cute but the same joy that smells of blood,” he exclaimed while pinching Timmy's cheeks.
“For example if the face is cute can not watch that, idih!” Timmy replied to his friend's pinch. They pinched each other and ended up tickling each other. Afika laughed at seeing him.
“Watak cowonya how the hell?” Afika touched Hami's shoulder. The question is, think long. Then he smiled meaningfully.
“Kayak Miwon that's it! You must know how her character is!” said Hami while tickling Timmy's body again. Afika.
‘Miwon? It was obvious that Hami chose him because the guy had an unusual disposition. Like freak or unique?’ Afika chuckled as she thought back to the joy Miwon always showed.
“Didih, Afika laughs to herself! Think of what?” Timmy asked as he brought his face closer to Afika's face. Hami came closer to his face. Afika shook her head quickly. “Duh, surely think of my beloved Edelweis yaw!” cibir Timmy again. Hami and Timmy tease Afika all out. Afika herself could not prevent her alleged friends. Then Afika terbesit the fact that Edelweis and Miwon are brothers.
“You know that Ed and Miwon are brothers?” afika's question made her two friends look at each other. Very long. Until Afika scratching her head did not understand. Spontaneous Timmy and Hami both laughed. Afika scrunched her forehead. ‘Reaction you guys mean what?’ tanyanya's confused.
“Your head is out of shock where the hell, Fik? How to dig?” hami couldn't help but laugh. ‘HAH?!’ Afika was just dumbfounded to see her friend's answer.
“Definitely abis gini you said that you have been with Ed for two years, bhuahahaa,” Timmy laughs more ngakak. Afika was still dumbfounded to see the behavior of her two friends. It is expected that neither Timmy nor Hami knew that Edelweis and Miwon were really brothers! Timmy and Hami stopped laughing. They wipe away the tears that come from excessive laughter.
They began to be confused because they saw Afika who was still silent. Hami tried to understand the question posed by Afika earlier. According to Hami, his friend always never joked about anything he said. Then he began to guess the way Afika thought.
“HAH! Fik, don't tell me they're really sisters??! He screamed half. It was Timmy's turn to not understand the thoughts of his two friends. “NGGAK MAYBE!!! Ed and Miwon are different!!! Kayak heaven and earth!”
Afika nodded firmly.
“Aaan anyway? I don't understand,” said Timmy asked for an explanation. Hami held both of Timmy's shoulders firmly. His eyes are a bit glaring.
“ED SAME MIWON REAL BROTHER!” screeches again. Timmy's face grew stupefied, barely believing what he had just heard. “Kandung?” Hami turned towards Afika. Asked
nod again.
“Wah, Fik! Then you have a chance dong!” the turn of Afika's shoulder held firmly by Hami. Afika's eyes blinked many times. “You're pretty tight with Miwon. Well, you can freely ask what the question is about Ed. What Ed does every day, who his close friends are, what his favorite food is! All of them! Then later you just beg Miwon to be his matchmaker you are the same Ed! Yuhuu!”
“Good tactic, Ham!” exclaim Timmy. Both of their hands clenched together and were smashed just like that. Usually that's how they show their cohesiveness.
Afika sighed. He felt it was impossible to do the crazy idea that Hami had just thrown out. He did want to do it a little, but he felt ashamed that someone other than his two friends knew his love for Ed. Especially now that Mayang told him to stay away from Ed.
“But they really have different personalities yes,” Timmy speaks again. Afika tried to listen to him. “Ed the son cool, smart, calm, mature, wise. I have almost no emotions! While Miwon was his good, cheerful, super friendly son, hands.”
“Sok cute, chatty, like a kid, likes to take care of people!” grouse Hami.
“Eeh, don't be ugly-uglykin prince me dong!”
“Prince from Hongkong?!” Timmy cupped Hami's hands together.
“Bby deh!!! Make her the prince of Hong Kong, huh, Mi?! Keep saving Princess Timmy
held inside the buto ijo palace named Rudolf! Prince Miwon arrives riding his white horse to rescue Princess Timmy. Then the two fight, stab there..” Hami bobble his head to see Timmy continue chattering while acting like a man in the war.
“Ck.. ck.. cck, most fantasize!” head of Timmy on purpose. Timmy grumbled in annoyance. Then the two race to head each other. “Eeh, Fik! What if Ed I enter into my novel character as well?! The story is they are sisters too! It must be good!”
Afika was silent. Thinking about the extent of his closeness to Edelweis, the prince of his heart. Afika wanted to recognize Edelweis further. But he did not want to ask Miwon directly. He also knew he had to stay away from Ed. ‘But if you just chat, it's okay right? At the very least, my closeness with Ed was not known by Mayang.’
...***...
Eating together has been fun so far. My father took us to a restaurant not far from school. The fried rice I ate was also good. I never knew there was this rice. I never even looked at the restaurant here. Not far from school.
Dad and Miwon also ate it with a glutton. They seem to enjoy it too. I remember my mother's fried rice. I admit that mother-made fried rice is not inferior to this fried rice. I used to also often help my mother offer fried rice to friends in class when the break time arrived. I never expected the slightest share of money from the fried rice. For me, my mother needs it more than I do.
“Down, sis?” Now Miwon and dad are looking at me. My eyes blinked for a moment. What was he talking about? I don't know. You idiot! I was busy with my daydreams. I just smiled and nodded. “Everytime mom and dad came home from the wedding reception, you found me with a body
full-on wounds. It wasn't because of Ed's fault, but because my friend dropped me in the gutter.”
“Why new story with dad now?”
Miwon turned his gaze towards me and smiled.
“I was very naughty. I like fighting with friends. Even mothers are often called by the homeroom teacher. When I got home from school, I asked my friend for pocket money. He won't give it. I also immediately fought with him. I don't know why I got pushed around in a dry, rocky gutter. My body is full of wounds. And brother Ed didn't want me to be beaten by dad again, he said..,”
I'm remembering the past. Two weeks before the tragedy. Miwon is still in fifth grade. He used to be very naughty and liked to fight. Many say it is because he started the fight first. Sometimes if I catch him beating a child, I immediately break up before being noticed by others. No matter how smart, Miwon always obeyed what I said. Sometimes fighting is still a habit.
One day, he came home with a body full of wounds. The uniform is also very dirty. Fortunately, my mom and dad were at a reception for a neighbor. I told him to take a shower and I washed his uniform. I washed it as clean as I could so that mom and dad wouldn't suspect it. However, it turns out that the blisters on Miwon's body make the father rise in blood. He was able to guess what had become the habit of his youngest child. Dad took a duster to beat him up.
“Have dad said a few times don't like fighting with friends! Do you want your mother to be called back at school?!” I immediately stood in the middle of them.
“I was wrong, yeah. I accidentally pushed him in the gutter.”
All my life I have never lied. I don't know why I feel I have to protect her. It was only two days before that he was beaten for fighting and I didn't want Dad to add any more wounds to his body. The one who was beaten was me. I only accepted it with asrah, even though tears still flowed to endure the pain. I also feel guilty for not being able to take good care of Miwon.
“After that I never nosy or bother my friends again. I never fought again either. Because I'm afraid that Ed's brother will take another blow from my father,” Miwon said as he looked at me again.
I remember the time when we separated. After the divorce, she moved house by taking me by her side. Miwon ran out of the house chasing me and mom. She was crying out loud.
“Why. Why did mom and sister leave me?” mom hugged him tightly.
“Mother and sister go for a while. My sister has to promise not to fight anymore. Must obey with everything you say the same father. Later if the sister has become a good child, the sister will get a gift,”
“I don't want a gift! I want mom!”
“Iya, Won. The gift is that you can meet again with mother and sister. You want to, right?” Miwon nodded slowly. “Miwon, I love you so much!”
That day was really the beginning we had to build life again because of the destruction of family integrity. Mother who only has a High School diploma, trying to get a job here and there. Working in a restaurant, being a housekeeper, being an OB, all the work he does without complaining.
“You've been babbling all the time. To the extent that father has not heard your brother's voice at all,” father's voice that is rather heavy spread my daydreams. I ate one last bite. Miwon and father watched me closely.
“This fried rice is delicious,” I said pleasantries. Miwon patted me on the shoulder a few times and continued to eat it again.
“Iya. You want to add?” ask her. I shook my head quickly.
“Ngak, yeah. Thank you.”
“No need to hesitate. Same father himself kok.”
“Ngak. I'm still full. Thank you,” I repeat again, trying to smile in front of him. Then we both didn't say a word. I glanced at Miwon who was still eating fried rice. Fortunately there is Miwon, otherwise the atmosphere will be very awkward!
“Dad prefers nasgor made by your mother,” he said later.
“Ya, the most delicious mother-made,” I said half a smile. My father and Miwon looked back at me. “Mother also often invites me to help her cook. Now I'm also universal mother.”
“Good. Sometimes I also want to eat your homemade nasgor.”
“I too!” added Miwon excited. I nodded while smiling again. Yeah, this is all gonna go well. I'll forget a little bit of my pain to Dad. Everything's gonna be fine. Like I accepted Miwon's presence back. I will also learn to accept my father's presence again in my life.
“Oh yes, soon you will face the National Examination right? Now bimbel where?” dad's question made me laugh for a moment.
“I'm not dumbbell, yeah. I was still in second grade anyway. So from now on I will fight hard to learn in the face of National Exam preparation later,” after speaking, I sip warm tea at the table. After drinking the tea, I did not hear my father's voice at all.
I started to see my face again. Dad's forehead looked wrinkled. I was confused by my father's reaction. I turned to Miwon who was just sniffing his shoulders. Dad's expression looked surprised and confused into one.
“You.. instead of now third class?” it was my turn to look at her in wonder. "Aren't you one year older than Miwon?”
“Oh, it turns out mom hasn't told me about this yet. I'm a year late, Dad. Because after graduating, something happened. That's why I postponed school.”
“Your mother never told me about this. If it's all because of the cost, why not say the same father? Not that before we went to Kalimantan, I asked your mother to keep my phone number? You can't ignore your education, Ed. I have to ask your mother why she can ignore.”
“Not because of cost. Not because of mom. That's because I don't want to continue school,” I'm fast. I looked at the clock on the watch and immediately stood up. “Sorry, I'm almost late for work. I'll give you a damn.” Dad stood up from his seat.
“What work are you doing? Don't reason. We have to talk about this,” his voice looks half emotional. I don't know why you've been hiding stories our whole lives from you. Don't you have to know so you don't have to ask a lot of questions and bring up the wounds of the past? Maybe you don't want me to know how sad the life we've been living after being left behind by it.
“Both part-time work. Maybe you still don't know that you left us enough injuries after you divorced mom. We had to hitchhike at my mother's sister's house. And mom always works non-stop day-nights. Even when we can't stay with our brothers anymore, we are willing to sleep on the streets. Lived here and there until a shopkeeper's mother picked us up. If we have to tell how we survived, the story is very long. After all, it's all in the past. We started a new life. Without having to burden dad again. We are both happy without the presence of father again in our lives,” I no longer care about the views of the people around.
The servants also began to prick. While father and Miwon just stood stiff. “I'm really late. I'll take my leave first. Thank you for taking me to eat together,” I immediately left the two of them with my head down.
Yes, I am indeed a little guilty of having dismantled our life history without mother's permission. But I really could no longer hide that story from my father's annoying attitude. If it wasn't told, dad really wouldn't understand how horrible he was after deciding to leave us.
