The Hidden Feelings
‘After seeing the list of student admission announcements, I saw you were helping grandma who fell in front of the school. You immediately lead him to walk and help him cross to the front of the DPRD building. Grandma didn't realize she dropped her bag. I also crossed the street and gave the bag to her. I saw you smile at me and say..,’
‘Thank you. You're a very nice person,’ Afika's words still stick clearly in my mind. Why does everyone keep looking at me like a pure and clean soul. But I don't feel like that. Even a girl I like says the same thing to me.
Compared to me, Miwon is still much better than me. How much I hated my father, but Miwon still loved me. He didn't turn around to hate me. One of those reasons was also the one that ultimately made me melt into accepting my father back into my life.
“Ed, are you still here? He said he was coming home? I thought you had come home earlier,” the existence of father beside the sofa chair quite surprised me. I was going to visit my father who had a fever at home for a while. After that I want to go back to Surabaya because it is soon working hours.
“Eh, I don't need to leave the room. Better just rest in the room.”
“It's okay. I want to breathe fresh air first. Inside his stuffy air room,” dad sat next to me. “Why not go home?”
“Tadi send chat. He said Miwon kangen was with me. He wants to meet me for a while he said.”
Dad smiled as he shook his head.
“Basic, the boy. Now he likes to ride the bike. I already have a boyfriend. Home hours also like to be late.”
“Hahaha.. Mang Budi nganggur dong, yah?”
“Yes not dong! Now Mang Budi totality can shuttle father in the office. I can't bear dong if I fire him. How many people have come with papa. Finding a trustworthy driver is hard. One thing you need to know about work is trust. Trust.”
I nodded my head understanding. Before long, the sound of a motorbike came from the front of the house. Apparently Miwon has gone home. My father and I were waiting for her in the living room. But I was surprised when I saw Miwon not enter the room alone. He entered the house with Afika. Yes, Afika, an extinct girl from the bottom of my heart.
“Asalamualaikum, dad! Wow.. Brother really wait for me!!! Glad!” Miwon soared happily. He immediately embraced me tightly.
“Hush! His attitude is still like a child! No shame on girlfriend!” exclaim daddy gaghas. Miwon laughed out loud.
“It's okay, om. I'm used to it,” said Afika kalem. I let them sit on the couch. The four of us talked for a while. I tried to smile when I saw Miwon and Afika throw jokes. Both seem to get along and very close. I could barely cover this gaping wound. Soon I was ready to go back to Surabaya. Dad and Afika drove me to the front of the yard.
“Miwon still in bathroom?”
“Iya. He said his stomach hurt a lot. I think because it was eating meatballs mostly sauce sambal,” said Afika while laughing.
“The boy!” the father grumbled again hearing the story of his son's carelessness. I also laughed. Suddenly the ringtone of the Afika mobile phone rang. He immediately lifted it.
“What? Timmy's? How can?! Yeah, I'll be there! Thanks for being told,” after putting the phone in the pocket, his face looks restless.
“What's up, Fik?” my many. Afika bit her lips with an anxious face.
“I was told by Hami that Timmy was in an accident. Now enter the hospital.”
“Lho, how can you? Geez, Timmy..,” I still see the uneasiness from Afika's face. It seems he wants to see his best friend soon, but Miwon is still in the bathroom. Is it okay if I intend to drive him? “Come, I'll take you there.”
“Tid.. don't need, Ed. Thanks though. I'll wait for Miwon ajah first.”
“Wait for him until his butt erupts will also be old. You are with me. Coincidentally my working hours are still long.”
“Tap.. but..,” Afika still looks at me doubtfully. I looked at Dad, asking for his help. Dad patted Afika on the shoulder.
“Yes, it's okay, Fik. Later om who will tell Miwon if you visit your friend who has just been in an accident. Tell him to follow.”
“Iy. yes, om. Thank ye. I say goodbye first, om,” Afika greet dad and take his helmet on Miwon motorcycle. Instantly my heart was pounding as Afika sat on the motor. He is currently sitting behind me. We haven't been together in a long time. Last time I drove him to Ngipik Lake, where I let him go to meet Miwon.
“Still yes, Ed. You've taken me,” Afika said on the way. I smiled happily to hear him talking to me again casually. “You are so good.”
‘DEG!’ Afika's sentence just now seemed to reflect on me. Unknowingly my anger was stirring. I raise the speed of my bike without braking. Afika's scream surprised me. I immediately reduced the speed of my motor. There was the sound of Afika's sobs.
“Fik, are you okay?” I stopped the motor on the side of the road. I got off the bike. Afika also got off the bike while not stopping crying. “You cry?”
“Ma. sorry, Ed. I'm afraid that you were speeding the kayak earlier. I was afraid of falling,” Afika wiped the remnants of her tears that had flowed from earlier. I immediately cursed myself. Why would I take my anger out on him. It's not Afika's fault!
“I'm sorry, Fik. I was a little angry.”
“Ed Angry? Why.?” afika's question made me curse myself back. Why am I being so honest with him? I don't want to hurt her heart.
“Eh, no. Let's continue the journey.”
I decided to temper my emotions as much as possible. Throughout the journey we did not speak a word. Arriving at the hospital, we entered the ER room and found Hami who was guarding Timmy there. Timmy's situation is pretty sloppy. Many wounds from his hands and feet. One of his wrists was wearing a cast.
“Duh, Afika. Cakiitttt,” pampering Timmy reminds me of Miwon who is not much different from the little girl. Afika stroked Timmy's head gently.
“How can you be like this anyway?!” exciting Afika. I saw his anxious face every now and then. It hasn't changed. Still thinking about and worrying about the people around him. Why can't that girl be by my side? If I had not let go, would he still be by my side to this day?
“So I went home with the same motorbike Hami. Keep on the road there is a snatch. He wants to get my laptop bag. I'm dong defense. No idea we fell both on the road,” Timmy's story later.
“I'm okay. But Timmy was dragged down the street. The laptop was taken equally. Because of that, his hand sprained and had to wear a cast,” Hami continued.
I was a bit surprised that Timmy noticed my presence. I who was standing behind Afika immediately approached Timmy with a smile.
“You are interested in not joining mading?” Timmy was standing in front of me with his left hand not in a cast.
“Nyindir yes? I'm K-Popers. Do you like to write fanfiction?”
“Loh, I'm serious loh.”
“Huh. Sori yes. My expensive payment knows. Compared to the works in the mading, my work is the work of the hands of the gods! My work was..,” Afika immediately silenced the mouth of Timmy who continued to nyerocos. I can't help laughing anymore. The behavior of that little doll girl always makes me want to laugh.
“Tuh right! While on a helicopter, you do not stop laughing. Am I that funny?” ask her with a frowning face. I laughed again seeing his expression. But this time I hold it. I pat her head gently.
“You are indeed as funny as that,” now Timmy face even reddened. It became quite wrong behavior. Timmy stopped looking at me and asked Afika why Miwon had not come to see her. Afika says that Miwon is still having stomach pains at dad's house. I pat Afika's shoulder. “Fik, I said yes. It's time nih.”
“Oh, yes, Ed. Thanks yes,” answered. Timmy whispered in Afika's ear. Then lay on the bed again. “Uum, Ed. Timmy said he'd like to talk to you for a second. Me and Hami out first yes.”
Afika pulls Hami out of the room. Then I sat down on the chair near Timmy's Mattress. I waited until he spoke first. But he was still silent as he looked at the ceiling. I decided to open the conversation first.
“Why is it still in the ER?”
“Ya is obviously still here. I'm still waiting for the medicine from the nurse to take home later.”
“Then.. Timmy wants to talk about what?”
“Ekhem,” he cleared his throat for a while before seeing me again.
“Ed still like Afika huh?”
“Hah?”
“Looks from his face,” he said with a stare.
“View from there? Is there any writing on my face?” my sulk was almost upset. I try not to look like that.
“Indeed! There is also a writing in jidat ‘mantan which is difficult to move on.”
I was also surprised to hear it.
“It sure looks like that huh?” Timmy nodded steadily. I feel ashamed too. I really wanted to hide my face in a closed place so that Timmy could not clearly read my face at this time.
“Lho is sad? I'm just kidding, Ed.”
“You're outrageous tau!!” I pinched both of her pungent cheeks. Basic sneaky! It could be toying with my still-wounded feelings. Timmy was complaining of pain. I also remembered my anger towards Afika on the road earlier. “Hey, Team. Actually on the bike I was speeding when the same bonce Afika.”
“HAH! IN SERIOUSLY?! Just found out a good-natured and not arrogant Edelweis can speed also turned out!”
“DO NOT CALL ME GOOD..!!!” bentakku later. I was silent for a moment. Again, I cannot control my emotions. I covered my face with both hands. “Sorry, Team.”
“Afika also always talk like that right?” tanyakanya. I looked back at Timmy who was looking at me with a faint smile. “Edelweis is a good person and he is always great in my eyes. Words like that always weigh you down, don't they?”
“I'm not as good as you think. I don't want to be a good person in Afika's eyes. Because the fact is I still feel hurt by his decision at that time. I feel played by those two guys.”
“Two people?”
“Afika and Miwon. Their friendly existence always makes me uncomfortable. Why am I not on Afika's side? I want to curse Afika. I'd love to hit Miwon.” in the face
“Then just maki Afika! Just hit Miwon!”
“What?” my question does not understand. Timmy is Afika and Miwon's closest friend. Why would he let me do that to both of them?
“Not good loh harbors feelings of hate for a long time. Because the feeling will grow bigger and someday will explode to hit you. In reality it is you who are not able to stand up to support that hatred,” he said at length. “If Afika turns around scolding you and Miwon returns your blow, it's okay. The most important thing was that Ed felt relieved and satisfied that he had revealed everything clearly. Not covering it up like now. As long as you tell me why you cursed Afika and why you hit Miwon, I think they will understand.”
I'm trying to digest Timmy's words. I didn't expect the little girl who used to be just joking around and dancing and was able to say all those things to me.
“Good. I will try to understand your words. If I'm sure, I'll do it to both of them. Thanks yes, Tim.”
“Okey-dokey, my bro!” he screamed while throwing eyes at me. I laughed again at his absurd behavior. Timmy pouted again for not stopping laughing.
“Then I say yes. It's time for work hours. Get well soon, okay?” I patted his head gently. Somehow being with Timmy made my bad mood just disappear. It was a great moodboster for me. I almost turned around to leave him. Timmy called me again. I turned in front of him again. “What do you want to say again, Timmy Winnie bittie?”
Timmy pointed right at my chest.
“Ed.. If Afika is no longer in there, I can try to stop by right?”
