Ammar opened the door, the smell of fried onions greeted his arrival.
“Sorry Mom's a little late. Temp's up. Ammar had muttered from the end of the village. Fortunately there was a Galih buy tempe rather a lot, so this is given some.”
“Galih often play here, especially after dad and Azmy died. You just go out often, busy too. So you never met.”
“Not busy support, but you are asked to fill out the event.”
“Once stop by dad's garden. You are his biological child even do not want to join ngerawat.”
“Kan already supplied same Galih.” Ammar.
Mom just smiled. Ammar pamit headed for his room. She reminded him not to sleep again this morning. The prayer of Duha, the murojaah of the Quran, and memorizing the three hadiths are his spiritual breakfasts. I do not know how many years he memorized the Quran but never memorized it. From the time he was still in the boarding school at Junior High, until now after graduating and getting a master's degree.
“Aduh, it's hard to say.” His grunt.
Maybe because the agenda is too dense to make it very difficult to add rote. Sometimes he is grateful because the memorization of his Quran is not lost, yes even though there is no progress and stagnant dozens of juz only.
Not felt, thirty minutes of traffic.
Ammar turned on the television, no show caught his attention. He chose to search for news on the internet. The laptop opened, wifi turned on, and there was a new notification in his email.

Assalamu’alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh.
How's it going? I hope you are okay. It's been three months since I've seen you. Ever since the thesis exam that afternoon, you never contacted me again. May you be protected by God in His shadow.
Sorry in advance if you bother you because of this letter. I just want to let you know if you have been recommended as a doctoral candidate at Leiden University, the Netherlands. Because your thesis and essay results are very prestigious among graduate students, you also propose your name. Of the many names, you are one that is prioritized by the university.
If you are pleased, please immediately confirm to the Father about your ability. You and the university will not force you to accept the offer. But the offer is a great opportunity you don't deserve to waste. You yourself also know that studying is not bound by age. Your age is still young and should be maximized to find as much knowledge as possible.
I hope you can accept this rare offer. We will soon be heading to Leiden University with Prof. Fariq, Professor of historical science. We will both settle there to research authentic Javanese books in the Leiden library. The plan, the results of the research will be published and used as teaching materials for university students.
That's all you can say. I'm sorry if I couldn't attend your graduation. Please forgive me if while guiding you have something wrong or something else that offends your heart
Salam Ta’dhim
David S.R Eko
Mr. David is his supervisor writing a thesis. Not only that, it was in Junior High, he became the mentor of Ammar dormitory, even though only two years. After that, he continued his doctoral studies and served on his alma mater campus, UIN Jakarta.
Ammar's outstanding achievements make lecturers and former domestic supervisors interested. He saw great potential in Ammar. Therefore, he pulled him to continue his master's studies in Jakarta, not Surabaya where he got his bachelor's degree and the best student faculty.
Two years ago, precisely when first set to become a lecturer guidance Ammar, the wife of Mr. David died. His wife is beautiful, meek, and is one of the leading figures in the fight for feminism. The incident coincided with him being appointed Professor in the field of history and philosophy. He also has no children. He did not want to marry again in honor of his late wife.
At the time of his wife's death, several officials from the University of Indonesia came to express their condolences. Understandably, his alma mater felt the loss of one of the best alumni he had.
Mr. David had two children from his household relationship. Unfortunately, both of them died at a very young age. It would be a huge blow to him.
Mr. David's first child, died of heat illness which continued to strike relentlessly for forty days. On the day of his forty-first child's illness, the little angel had to return to the arms of the Creator.
The second child died of a cough. Actually, the second son of Mr. David died not because of the cough he suffered, but because of the treatment of the clinic is less intensive and their mistakes in the provision of drugs that were the main cause of the death of his second child.
Mr. David once told me if at that time his son he gave the medicine given by the clinic. After drinking, the cough suffered by the second child increasingly becomes so, even to bleed. Therefore, he never trusted the clinics on the roadside because his son had died from the drugs given by the clinic.
How lyrical.
It seems Ammar has been considered as his own child since he was Junior High in the pesantren. When he graduated and finished his service after aliyah, he immediately called Ammar telling him to continue his studies in the Middle East, precisely in Egypt
“Your potential should be developed. If studying in Indonesia is too easy for you to be the best on campus.”
Ammar remembered his words at that time. However, the condition of the Middle East at that time was very alarming. Many conflicts occur. Demonstrations everywhere. In fact, terrorism is the hallmark of the area there.
“Udah, lecture around here only. Success does not always come from studying in a big college. After all many of them from small campuses even more shining name.” She refused subtly when Ammar expressed his desire to study in Egypt, at al-Azhar University.
After that, he expressed his intention and ended up apologizing to Mr. David for not being able to continue his studies there. Instead of refusing, he actually supports it because obeying what parents say is part of the absolute key to success.
Finally, Ammar chose UIN Surabaya to be the initial purpose of his lecture. He really wanted to take a more general major, but his little heart leaned so that he chose a religious department only.
Until one day, he gets an answer to the mother's rejection. He thought, education is not everything indeed, let alone a famous campus. Indeed, being an outstanding campus alma mater can be a value in finding a job. However, if his efforts are not directly proportional, then the results are futile.
Now it is proven, his friends who study abroad with the same majors as him, even more likely to become a pesantren teacher, especially just filling lectures in their area. While Ammar, his name began to be known among the campus alma maternya. More than that, he is often asked to be a flying lecturer at several campuses throughout Indonesia.
Actually education, whether it is school to college, they are only limited to uncertain aids in achieving success. Success can be obtained from anywhere, even people who have never experienced many successful lessons.
For Ammar, school and learning remain the most important. Although only limited to tools that are uncertain, but until now there are no other tools to achieve success more effective than education itself.
