Ammar opened his eyes, his consciousness returning. His body felt heavy to move. It brings a look around him. A place he had never been before. He saw a one-way street. To his left was a tree that followed his only path. The empty houses were left by their owners. He's afraid. He doesn't know what to do.
In a state of extreme fear, Ammar was able to move his legs after much effort. A speck of light then appeared at the end of that path. Initially afraid to move, he ventured to step where the light was.
Ammar found his fur standing. The breezy night wind also adds to the gripping atmosphere there. The dim lights attached every two meters gave him a glimmer of light that illuminated his journey. The trees on his right left. Not a single house was visible, not even a few dim streetlights every ten meters along the trail. It's like a fairy tale, but this is what he's looking at.
The light slowly approached Ammar. He was in a state of great fear. He tried to move his legs to retreat, unable to. His legs seemed paralyzed and could not be moved at all, but he remained strong to stand. Not just his legs, even his whole body was paralyzed. He finally came with the situation.
The light was getting closer to Ammar. With those few steps, he could tell that the light was a man.
Someone kept getting closer. Getting close. Up to the distance between Ammar and the glowing man was only one step.
“A..You who?” Tanya Ammar stammered.
“You don't be afraid, son. You must know me.” Answer the man.
The light on the mysterious person slowly faded away. Finally it appeared that the figure was an old man wearing all-white clothes with a cane that helped him to walk.
Ammar observed the stick the man was holding closely. He was like a stranger to that thing. He realized it was in his father's closet. Dad always took care of her and didn't let any dust stick on her.
Ammar set his eyes on the entire body of the man in white clothes. From the bottom up, the posture of the man was similar to someone familiar in his life. The clogs sandals he wore were once used by his father to go to fill the study at the village mosque.
“Grandpa?” Ammar tried to guess the mysterious man.
“Iya, I'm your grandfather.”
As soon as the silence occurred, Ammar did not expect to meet his grandfather.
“This is where, Cake?” Ask curiously.
“This is your grandfather's nature. It's not time for you to get here, but fate says another.” His grandfather embraced him then walked down that path.
“Follow me, fly.”
Ammar followed his grandfather's steps. Grandpa then flew into space. He doubted. Can he fly like Grandpa?
He tried and finally could.
Along the way, grandfather just kept silent not to say a word. Ammar also did not dare to open the conversation. Until he gets somewhere.
“We are in the sky cloud. You can see the sky soaring from east to west.” Grandpa pointed around him.
Grandpa walked back. Now, grandfather walks parallel to Ammar.
“So long ago grandfather didn't see you. Grandpa's done it when you were two years old. How's your Mom's dad doing?”
“Alhamdulillah, Cake. Fine.”
After a few steps through the sky, the two of them arrived at a place. Ammar saw two different trees. One is large and has withered leaves, the other is small and the leaves are still solid green.
Ammar nodded.
“What do those two trees mean, Cake?” Ammar could not help his curiosity.
“See the tree left. The tree is small and the leaves are still bright green. But you need to know my grandson, the roots of the tree are fragile and the estimated age must not be long.”
Ammar thought for a moment.
“While it is large, seen from the outside it looks withered and it may be its age soon. But when viewed from within, the tree's roots were still firmly stuck in the ground. If a strong wind hits it, does not demand the possibility of the tree standing upright.”
“I still don't understand, Cake.”
“The two big trees are of the same type, but the ages of the two are different. Does not demand the possibility if the young die first before the older.” Grandfather continued his words while continuing his footsteps.
Ammar continued to follow his grandfather's footsteps. Grandfather continued to walk without looking back though. Grandpa's footsteps grew faster. Grandfather then soared into the sky above him. The sky slowly opened as if giving way to grandfather to it.
“Where, Cake?”
Grandpa remained silent. Ammar tried to follow his grandfather up into the next sky. He had not yet entered the sky, there was a visible wall that prevented him from ascending. He also fell back into his place. The sky was again covered by white clouds.
“Kakeeekkk..” Shouts from where he stands. Still no voice answered. It was already impossible for him to catch up with his grandfather.
Ammar looked in all directions. There's no one. It turned out that the sound came from the sky above him. It was grandfather's voice.
“Ammar, it's not time for you to catch up with grandpa. Your journey is long. Many people are waiting for you down there.” Grandfather's voice echoed throughout the eyes looking, “Go to the edge of the sky, follow that breeze, you will find something useful.”
Ammar obeyed what his grandfather said. He walked back up the sky. Behind it, he also thought if the sky turned out to have an end. He does not care about his curiosity. For all he knew, his grandfather used to be the most honest man. That he got from his father's speech when he was still MTs first.
Ammar continued walking, his eyes looking around. He closed his eyes and was suddenly in the hospital.
“Icha ...” Her voice is weak. He tried to pat Icha on the shoulder. Niente.
He saw his body lying with a face wrapped in bandages. Beside her was Icha who was asleep in her palm. Halim and Azmy sleep on a carpet held near the entrance of his room. Mom and Dad went home because something needed to be done.
Ammar winked, and at once he was in the sky again, resting on the clouds.
“Is that what grandfather meant?” He said in his heart when he saw a small envelope that gave off light.
“Maybe this is his item”
He hadn't touched the item shown by Grandpa. He fell from the sky. The cloud suddenly split itself and fell. He did not dare to look down. He could only pray that he would be okay. He heard a voice from the sky. Another case with the first, this time his voice did not come from grandfather, but from someone else he did not know.
“Ammar, this is not your nature. You're not yet time to set foot here. You should go back. There are a lot of people waiting for you. Your family, your relatives, your villagers, and others who still expect your services. You have to be able to fight for your life. You are needed there.”
Ammar collapsed after hearing the sound.
