Fall of Dream Pesantren (Move WRITE)
Hashashin and Assassin

“You saw that house, My?” Ammar said pointing to a house.

Azmy just nodded her head accompanied by an increasingly subsiding cry.

“The house used to belong to a Dutchman. The house is now uninhabited. Even so, the house still stands strong until now. That said, the house is haunted because it has not been occupied for decades.”

The two brothers looked at the house closely. The house is very majestic with white paint that dominates accompanied by a spacious but unkempt yard. Many walls are broken. Not a few of the foundations of the house are eaten by termites. Surprisingly, the house was still standing solidly without a single one collapsing inside.

“Our village was once colonized by the Netherlands. However, the village religious figure whose tomb is in the mosque and his name is immortalized as the name of the road in this village is the most instrumental figure in expelling the invaders. Our beloved mosque, it was not going to be destroyed even though what hit it was a bomb from the Netherlands. That's because our predecessors fought their hardest to be free from invaders until blood was not left. In addition, the practices they use also cannot be separated from the magical things that occur.

“Our country has experienced critical times first after being colonized by the Netherlands. Apart from colonization from abroad, our country is also colonized from within. The kiai and religious figures who were targeted and killed at that time. They are considered the main enemy of the rebels who want to destroy the ideology of the nation based on the principle of Pancasila. Almost all of our villagers were affected. Whether it is disturbed outside the house or inside the house. Some of their stuff suddenly disappeared. Either their pets died suddenly.

“At that time, there were still some village warriors who fought against the rebels after the death of the kiai and religious figures in the village. The average swordsman is the santri of the kiai. Of course, there are special practices that are passed down to them so that some of them are not penetrated by bullets, some can dive for a long time, some can topple a helicopter with only green beans thrown. Our villagers, used to call these warriors with the term “Ninja”.

“Kayak in movies, Mas. Pack ninja-ninja all.” The cry of Azmy has disappeared.

“Lho, this is true. This story is already hereditary.”

Azmy nodded.

“Means the one in the movie was inspired from a real story?”

“Terussin, gih.”

“Ninja is originally from Iraq and has the nickname “Assasin”. The Japanese adopted it and gave the ninja its name to be different from those of Middle Eastern Arabs. Assassin's name slowly faded and changed with ninja's popularity. Until finally Western people also participated in producing films related to ninjas.

“By the years later, this group is no longer heard and the term “Asassins” has undergone a change in meaning to “Payan” Killer. In pop culture, the term is applied to novels and screens. In the conflict in the Arab world, the descendants of this group are known as the Druze, a pro-communist group in Lebanon and Syria. But some small groups still survive today around the region.

“Assassin is actually a lafaz and a term from the west that comes from the word Hashasyin. Hashasyin is a well-coordinated and well-trained group of secret assassins. Prior to the Crusades, Hashashin was formed by Hassan Ibn Shabah who was eliminated in succession in Egypt in 1090. Then he rallied the forces of the Shi’ah in Syria to kill the Sunni Muslim leaders and leaders (Ahlus Sunah wal Jamaah).  Hassan also built a powerful Masyaf fortress in Alamut, south of the Caspian Sea and north of Iran. The strategic position of the fort makes it easier for Hashashin to carry out their infiltration and assassination.

Azmy nodded his head in understanding. Although he was not even a decade old, his interest in history was very high. Ammar's books of crusade history were devoured by Azmy. Sometimes, his book about the story of the kingdom of the time of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Lut belonging to Ammar was thick also read.

“Assassins is not only different on the surface, but has substantial and doctrinal differences. Assassins can no longer be considered part of the Muslims because they do not require prayer, zakat, and fasting, which are essential in Islam.

“Alamut Temple is the strongest fortress because it stands on the top of the mountains where there is only one way to get out and enter, it is very difficult and steep. Inside the fortress, which is a relic of the Roman Emperor Trajan (98-117M), there are confusing rooms and a secret garden in the middle, where not everyone can access it. By Hassan al-Sabbah, Fort Alamut was used as the headquarters of the group.

“It was from Alamut that the Assassins spread terror throughout the kingdom, both from the Shiite side and its Sunni-Abasid and Seljuk opponents. These days are known as the Great Terror. The power of these Assassins was so legendary that it became the talk of the European Crusaders."

Azmy tried to recall her brother's words. As he knows, assassin is one of the game characters who are often described as kidnappers or hitmen. Understandably, since childhood already familiar with the game makes it easier to understand historical terms that have to do with the game he played.
