The Part 14
After taking a bath and getting dressed, Darwin immediately slides into Jessica's house, and he can't wait to meet Evano and his wife.
Darwin knocked on the door and gave his greetings, heard footsteps from inside and the door opened.
“Win, let's go in?” take Valen when you know who's coming.
Without answering, Darwin simply complied. Once knowing who came Evano's face immediately smiled as brightly.
Jessica glanced at Darwin not liking the tip of her eye, she was preparing dinner. “I hope you don't come now,” he said coldly.
“Why?” darwin asked half a whisper so Evano and Elijah wouldn't listen.
“You can make our mood worse,” Jessica said. It was the mood of him and Asmira.
“Stttt!” Valen put an index finger on his lips.
“Do not mess in front of children.” Valen looked at Jessica and rounded his eyes.
Jessica and Darwin were both silent. After everything was done, Jessica told Evano to call her mom in the room.
Asmira's steps came to a halt when she saw Darwin's presence at the dinner table. But Evano did not want to let go of Asmira's hand, he forced her to eat together.
“Honey, what do I want to get?” ask Darwin.
“I can do it myself,” Og Asmira.
Darwin was silent, he could not force his will especially in front of the children. The atmosphere was very awkward, Valen several times tried to melt the atmosphere. But still he could not break the silence when the dinner took place.
After eating, Valen took the children up to the second floor, let them solve the problem downstairs.
The atmosphere was getting quieter, Darwin clasped Asmira's hand. Asmira tried to pull his hand from Darwin's grasp, but could not he not be that strong.
“I'm sorry.” That's all that came out of Darwin's mouth.
Asmira was fixated, she wanted to vent out all the turbulent emotions in her heart. He was not satisfied with just an apology. She wants to know what her husband has been doing the last two weeks so there is not a little time for her and Evano.
But Asmira was still the Asmira who used to be, she chose the silence of a thousand languages rather than angry and screaming with all the annoyance that she craved.
“Already, Mas.”
Darwin looked at Asmira inside, he did not know what his wife meant. The word 'Already' that Asmira spoke had too much meaning if he were to describe it.
“I will not look for reasons to justify myself. I admit I was wrong, I'm sorry. Apart from everything I did that made you sick, I beg you to forgive me.”
“You think it's that easy, Mas.” Asmira stared at her husband's brown bead of eyes. A drop after another of tears flooded Asmira's eyes.
“Do I mean nothing to you, Mas?” asmira asked coldly, she threw her gaze to the side.
“No dear, I'm just too busy.”
Both of them went back to silence. Asmira wakes up from her seat, Darwin pulls the wife's hand but is pushed aside by her.
“Go home, Mas. I want to rest, my body is not fit, even to ask my condition Mas forgot, right?”
“Yes God, I'm sorry baby, how are you doing now, what are you actually sick?” ask Darwin. Not inattentive, he completely forgot, his main goal was just to persuade Asmira and bring her back home.
Asmira smiled wryly. “Forget it, Mas. If Mas is bored, continue with this attitude, I will choose my own path.” Like a knife to Asmira's heart when the words escaped from her mouth, she could no longer hold back her tears.
From the first week she learned of her pregnancy she was eager to share her happiness with her husband, but she did not get the chance. Day by day Darwin's attitude increasingly made him feel neglected.
“I swear by whatever baby, I'm not bored at all with you and Evano. I just didn't realize, I was too overwhelmed by a project that had trillions of profits. From the first week I worked with the K company, I wanted to finish it as soon as possible. I want us to take a vacation on our Anniversary day after the project is finished.”
“I didn't expect it would all end like this, believe me, all this for you and Evano.” Darwin continued his words.
Jessica and Valen who had been eavesdropping on their conversation had only been silent on Darwin's confession. Jessica approached them both.
“Already Win, let tonight Asmira rest first, he still has not recovered back.” Jessica grabbed her sister's shoulder.
“Rest, I'll pick you up tomorrow.” Darwin kissed Asmira's forehead and gently stroked her cheeks.
Jessica escorted Asmira to her room while Darwin was still there with Valen. He looked at his wife's back with a glare.
“What does this have to do with the woman at the Cafe with you?” valen asked breaking the silence.
“You saw it, Mas?” ask Darwin. Valen.
“Ya, Yunita her name.”
“Something seems wrong, Win.”
Darwin looked at Valen's face. “Means, Mas?”
“After you left, I saw him contact someone and he got angry. I don't know more exactly what he's talking about,” Valen said.
Darwin was silent, from the beginning Pratiwi had warned that there was a hidden purpose that Yunita had hidden. But he did not believe it at all, he was as suggested by Yunita with financial problems so that all he thought about was money only. But am I that stupid? Darwin wondered.
“Beware, Win.” Valen patted his sister's shoulder.
“Thank you, Mas. I'm going home first.”
Valen nodded, and he led Darwin to the gate of his house. Then Jessica's voice called out to her, and she rushed inside.
“Darwin is gone, Mas?” ask Jessica. Valen.
“What has Asmira slept?”
“Already, Mas. Is everything okay?”
“Just misunderstand, I don't think Darwin lied dear.”
“My hope is so too Mas.”
While Darwin did not go home, he contacted Kelvin and asked him out together, there were things he needed to tell his best friend.
They're at Darwin's Cafe, Kelvin just arrived. Seeing Darwin's unfresh face he soon found out what happened to his best friend.
“What's up?” kelvin asked directly towards the conversation.
“You remember Yunita son of the owner of my high school foundation first?” ask Darwin.
Kelvin racked his brain trying to remember the events that had been long enough. They know their age is no longer young.
"That ugly, big-bodied person who often chases you?" kelvin asked in a slightly surprised tone after recalling it. Darwin and Kelvin were two years apart, neither did they go to school in the same place, but Darwin often told him about Yunita.
Darwin nodded slowly. Kelvin narrowed his eyes after getting an answer from Darwin.
“What does this have to do with the woman?” ask Kelvin.
