Revision paper, Ch 23

Melisa has prepared a gift for Nico neatly and thoughtfully. He also puts the Gift Ray gave in the piano room that he will give to Nico. Waiting for Nico to come home Melisa's cooking for dinner.

So when Nico came home, he could smell the ripe rice and home cooking. It wasn't a surprise that impressed and it wasn't a fancy party, but the feeling at home was strong. Nico smiled as he headed to the kitchen and thought he had found the house he was looking for.

Melisa who was arranging the food at the table looked at Nico and said, "You're home? Sit down and we'll eat together."

Nico put his bag on the chair and went to the kitchen with Melisa, "Can I help?"

Melisa looked at Nico for a moment in surprise before smiling, "yes, you can move this with me." Melisa pointed at the food that was still in the kitchen.

They moved it in an orderly manner and completed it quickly. Sitting in a chair, Melisa also brought a small cake and candles on it, "I can't buy you a big one because it won't run out with the two of us."

Staring at Nico, Melisa added, "I also bought another one for you. Don't you like cake, you can eat it tomorrow again."

"Thank you." Nico looked at Melisa with pleasure. Thinking for a while, Nico asked curiously, "Why can you think of cooking like this for a birthday?"

Thinking about her sister in the other world Melisa replied, "Didn't you like her? I feel like cooking and eating together on those birthdays is warmer. So I don't think this is bad."

"No, I like it. That looks more sincere." Nico can feel subtlety and attention without having to surprise people or spend a lot of money on a party. Enjoying this cozy atmosphere, Nico desperately wants to freeze time to keep feeling it.

Melisa who heard Nico's answer was also happy, because she also did it with Lia's sister. He was confused to make any surprises so he just did what he used to do with Lia's sister.

They would cook together and eat together as well. Recalling her made Melisa long to return, so she immediately put those thoughts aside.

After finishing his meal Nico realized something, so he said to Melisa. "That I want to ask, can I call you without the word madam?"

Melisa who lit the candle looked up at Nico, "yes, I once said that you can call me whatever makes you comfortable."

"Thank you, Melisa." Nico smiled gently.

"Here, make a wish and blow out the candle." Melisa handed me a cake whose candle had lit.

The fire swayed lightly, burning the candle underneath. Although the light is outnumbered by the lamp above them, the warmth can reach their hearts.

Nico closed his eyes and started making pleas. She hopes that she can be with Melisa, and hopes that this happiness will not be lost easily.

After making a wish, Nico opened his eyes and blew out a candle. With that Melisa cut the cake with more Nico parts. He also tells Nico that he will take her to see other gifts after this.

After eating their cake, Melisa invites Nico to a room. Nico remembered it was an unused study room. So he was a little curious about what had been prepared for him.

The door slowly opened and revealed the contents inside. A piano was in the middle of the room, next to the floor-to-ceiling window. The room had changed with the dominant color of white.

The dark-colored space became bright and had good air circulation. Melisa also looks to make it have a soundproof wall. It would make him very calm and not have to fear the sound of bothering him or vice versa.

Nico was a little surprised before walking towards that piano. Stroking slowly, she immediately felt a familiarity with the piano that had not been played since the death of grandfather.

Seeing Nico happy Melisa asked, "Do you like it?"

Nico nodded lightly before replying, "Yes, I like it a lot."

He had long forgotten his fondness for the piano since he left it. But when he saw her again, he could feel that his fondness for the piano was never lost.

"Can I play it?" Nico asked doubtfully to Melisa.

Melisa who heard just smiled and said, "yes, this is yours now anyway."

Sitting on the chair she stroked the piano keys to get acquainted with him, Smiling Nico started playing the Song she played the most and learned while with grandfather.

The bright lights and the darkness outside the window were in stark contrast, making her glow with her own light. Rows of beautiful tones jumping over his tuts. The slender fingers flow like water and follow their owners to make that tone.

Melisa stood behind him, listening quietly. Although the original Melisa has seen many piano music performances, and Melisa now knows that Nico's level can not match the professionals. But Melisa also listened to the music carefully, Melisa knew Nico poured all her feelings on every note.

After the song ended, Nico fell silent. Despite her embarrassment, she turned around and smiled gently at Melisa.

Seeing her smile Melisa then remembered the main thing she wanted to give, "There's actually something I want to talk to you about."

Nico who heard also said, "Sama, I also want to tell Melisa something." Laughing he added, "Like can talk first."

Melisa was happy and said, "I will list your name as my son. I've taken care of everything, just got your approval. There are also many rumors because I have delayed changing your name. So when you agree, I can make you my family."

Melisa said happily without knowing that Nico's face was slowly freezing, Her smile slowly disappearing replaced with helplessness.

Smiling reluctantly Nico said, "I don't want to."

"What?" Melisa asked because it seemed like she had heard wrongly. He had no idea why Nico had rejected his proposal.

"I don't want to be your son, I'll never want that position." Nico said softly and a little melancholy.

"What's wrong with you, Nico??" Melisa asked worriedly, had she made a mistake that made Nico refuse like that.

“After all the attention you give, do you just want me to just be your son?" Not answering any questions, Nico asked Melisa. He approached Melisa and saw the face of the person who had always been kind to her up close. Seeing the frown at the end of his eyes, Nico slightly rubbed the corner of his eyes lightly.

“Isn't it like that?” Melissa was confused at this moment. He did not understand why this change of atmosphere turned around so quickly.

"When I first met, I was afraid because you would make me like a man's pe. But right now I wish you could be more selfish to have me." Lowering his hand, Nico retreated slowly away from Melisa. lowered his head, he added, "I don't want to be your son, but your companion. Because I love you, Melisa. Not as a child, but as Nico, a man."

Nico turned away from the room and went to his room.

Melisa was stunned for a long time before realizing what all Nico's words meant. As he exited the music room, he saw Nico carrying his suitcase down from his room on the second floor. Melisa yelled to Nico, "Where are you going?"

“I'll stay in the dorm and live alone. I didn't do it impulsively, just wanted to calm down and stay outside.” Nico told Melisa firmly.

“Why?” Melisa asked while stopping Nico.

Nico did not answer him and left with a very gentle smile. Melisa herself wants to stop him, but she knows that Nico also needs space to calm herself down.

Nico himself wanted to go out because he wanted to be independent, because if he stayed in that house, Melisa would still consider him a son.
