ٱقۡرَأۡ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡأَكۡرَمُ ٣

Read, and your Lord is the Almighty,

ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِٱلۡقَلَمِ ٤

Who taught (man) with a pen.

عَلَّمَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ ٥

He taught man what he did not know.

كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطۡغَىٰٓ ٦

Not once! Truly, that human being is truly beyond bounds,

أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰٓ ٧

when he sees himself enough.

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجۡعَىٰٓ ٨

Truly, to your Lord is the place of return (you).
