Ask for Restu

Joo Soong frowned when he heard this girl before him speak. The man knew a little of the language Nayla spoke.

Both of his legs stopped right next to the foot of the patient's bed. He looked at Nayla carefully. The girl was wearing a cloth that wrapped her head.

Reminds him of the woman he has loved since he was twenty years old. About forty-five years ago. And his face, reminiscent of the girl who always called him "Dad". The sadness was now seeping in his heart.

"Who is this father?" asked Nayla who was starting to be wary of the middle-aged man who was still looking at her.

Joo Soong smiled faintly. The language used by this girl was the same as his wife. His eyes are now beginning to glaze over.

"My name is Joo Soong. Kim Joo Soong," she smiled.

"Whose name are you, son?"

Nayla was silent about who she was. The pain began to hit his head again. Every time he tried to remember about himself, the pain always appeared. But he tried his hardest to endure the pain. He wreaked with tears.

With tears in her eyes, Nayla shook her head.

Joo Soong who saw the girl crying started to worry. He got closer to the girl by sitting on his bed, next to the girl.

"Calm down, son."

Nayla looked up at the two beads of men who now looked anxious.

"I don't remember who I am" the girl shed tears.

"I don't remember who I am" he said so softly.

Nayla swept through this entire room with a question mark filled look.

"Why am I here?"

"I don't know dad. I don't know that guy. What's going on with me?"

That guy? Could it be Joo Young? he asked in his heart.

Nayla kept crying. Crying over her who could not remember her identity and the cause she could have in this room.

Joo Soong tried to calm her down by patting her gently on the back.

"Shhhhh, calm down, son. Don't think about it just yet. Forgive me for asking."

It felt like the middle-aged man was bringing Nayla into his arms. He believes that if he can hug the girl, his longing for his daughter who died five years ago will be treated. That exact same face was his belief.

Nayla continued to cry as she muttered and asked about herself.

"Dad?"

Joo Soong turned his attention to the figure of the man who was now standing on the doorstep of the patient room. Behind him was Sua who was also stunned to see the presence of the middle-aged man.

Joo Young walked over to her father. But his attention was only on Nayla.

"Please calm her down" said Joo Young, glancing at Sua at a glance and turning her gaze to Nayla again. He hugged to calm the girl. But again he can't.

Sua quickly approached and grabbed the tranquilizer bottle that was in the nightstand drawer. He injected the tranquilizer with a small dose. Slowly the effects of the drug began to work. Nayla is starting to control herself.

Sua helped him to sit leaning on the head of the bed.

"Please get out of here" he said softly but sounded resolute.

His father and Sua were silent for a moment and then stepped out according to his commands.

Joo Young stepped closer and sat down beside Nayla. He stared fixedly at the two beads of the girl's eyes. I think he wants to cry every time he sees this girl.

"Don't do that again" he said so softly. He lowered his head to hide his tears that were beginning to accumulate in the eye sinks.

"Don't worry me" the man shed his tears.

Nayla who was still under the influence of medicine simply observed Joo Young speak. He knew the man was crying. The man's tears fell right on his fingers.

"Why are you crying?" nayla asked after a while just silently looking at Joo Young. His voice sounded hoarse.

Joo Young lifted her face and wiped her eyes.

"I'm not crying" she smiled.

"Why are you worried about me?"

Joo Young momentarily fell silent, "Because you're an important person to me" she replied.

It's important that I'm not matched.

Nayla was silent for a moment hearing the statement from the man.

"Am I really your lover?"

"Yes. You're really my lover, and we're getting married."

"Why am I here? Why don't I remember anything?"

"You had an accident while visiting me to the Goseong Border Company. According to the police investigation results from the road cctv footage, a truck suddenly drove into your car and hit you until you were thrown out of the car. Your head hit. The doctor said you had a severe concussion that made your memory disappear."

Nayla silently heard Joo Young's explanation.

"Is that really what happened?" ask the girl.

Joo Young nodded still fixedly staring at the two beads of Nayla's eyes. He tried to convince the girl from the look in his eyes.

"Can I trust you?"

"certain. I'm your lover and your future husband. Isn't trust the most important foundation in a relationship?"

Nayla just kept quiet and didn't respond.

The girl tried to find lies from the gaze of the man in front of her. But he was hard to get what he was looking for.

"Trust me. I'll always be by your side until you remember everything back."

With a still doubtful feeling, the girl nodded her head slowly.

Even though her words were so convincing, I still hesitated to believe it.

But who else should I trust at a time like this, if not the one I saw in the first place when I opened my eyes.

"I'll try to trust you. I just hope you won't let me down." His words are so soft.

Tired of feeling unbearable Joo Young when he heard the girl's words. However, he had already made this decision. He had to pretend until the last moment that he knew when it would come. The moment the girl regained her memories.

"All right, it's night. You go to sleep first. I'm going to meet my father and come back to accompany you here" he moved from his seat.

Nayla glanced at the clockwork that had shown ten o'clock at night.

"Wait, can you take me to the toilet? I have to pray" he said, which made Joo Young speechless.

"Don't you remember your identity?" ask Joo Young.

Nayla nodded her head.

"Then do you remember what your religion is?"

Nayla smiled faintly, "I don't remember who I am. But I do remember who my God is" said the girl with teary eyes.

I'm certain. Even if my memory is lost, my faith will not be lost. Nayla's inner voice.

"Alright, I'll ask Sua to help you to the toilet."

Joo Young stepped out of the nursery, replaced by Sua's entry into the room.

"Hi" greeted Sua with a big smile.

Nayla looked at her clothes.

"Ah, I'm an army doctor at this hospital," said Sua who understood Nayla's gaze.

"My name is Hyeon Sua. Just call Sua," she extended her hand.

Nayla replied to the hand, "My name-" she could not continue.

He doesn't remember what his name is.

"Yun Ji Kyung. That's yourname. We used to call you Jia."

Nayla looked at him confused. This girl was so sure that it was her name. But he himself is not sure.

"I know about you" Sua smiled.

"really? Are we familiar?"

Sua shook her head.

"We're not so familiar. It's just, since you're Joo Young's girlfriend, I know you very well. Me and Joo Young are like siblings."

"Can you tell me who I am and the people around me?" ask Nayla.

"certain. I can tell you the things we did first. But as for who you are, I'm sure Joo Young deserves more. He's your future husband" Sua smiled.

Nayla exhaled slowly.

"alright. Can you help me to go to the toilet?"

Sua swiftly helped him to get out of bed. Both of his legs felt heavy because they had not been moved for a long time. He's like a cripple. Sua grabbed the wheelchair next to the patient's bed and brought it in front of Nayla.

"You'll have to have surgery once again for your leg. You're having a dislocation. Well, even though it is classified as a minor injury, we should not take it lightly," Sua said while transferring Nayla to a wheelchair.

Nayla just nodded in response. He pushed the wheelchair up to the toilet.

---------------

"Is that girl your lover?" The middle-aged man asked as they sat on the waiting bench in front of the patient room.

"Yes dad."

"His face is very similar to Hyun Joo's," the middle-aged man said sounding dejected.

"Dad almost thought that your sister came back to life after five years of absence."

Joo Young smiled, "Early meeting him I thought that way too," he stared fixedly at his father's face.

"Dad gets curious how the story goes you get to meet him" muttered Joo Soong without seeing his son's face.

"Let me tell you. It's just that, right now there's something important that I want to ask," Joo Young stared fixedly at her father's face.

"Do you mind if I marry him?"

Joo Soong chuckled at her son's question. His right hand moved to embrace that sturdy body.

"Hey, Captain Kim, since when have you always been against your decisions?" his left forehead lifted.

Joo Young released her body from her father's embrace, "Dad doesn't mind?" ask the man who still does not believe.

Joo Soong nodded confidently.

"Father always supports the decision of the father's child as long as it can still be accepted."

Joo Young's smile was perfect. Though he had prepared more excuses if his father still wanted to match him with Sua.

"Are you going to convert too?" joo Soong asked suddenly. The smile from Joo Young's lips just changed.

Aye!

He almost forgot that one thing.

Nayla, ah no, Jia.

Jia is a different girl Religion with her. The girl is Muslim while she is Catholic.

"I haven't thought of that."

Joo Soong frowned confusedly.

"How did you decide to get married? Though your religion is different" the middle-aged man asked.

"We're planning to marry in a different religion."

Joo Soong was surprised to hear that. Joo Young's statement made him remember the decision he made forty-five years ago.

He didn't want his son to experience the same thing.

"No! I don't agree if you're married by any religion. I don't want the past to repeat itself. Your father and mother experienced it. Don't you Joo Young."

The man stood up to neutralize the emotions he was beginning to feel.

"We can handle that dad."

"Yes, you can. But the girl's family? Do they know that you're getting married?" ask Joo Soong. His tone began to rise.

"He's an orphan. Both of his parents have died. His mother's family in Malaysia doesn't care about him. In fact they deliberately sold it to be made into *******. That is why she moved to Korea with her Grandmother, the mother of her father. But last year, his grandmother died. He lives a father's kara. I want to marry her. Protecting him from the bad guys of his uncle and aunt from Malaysia."

Joo Soong who heard her son's words became interested in what Joo Young said.

He sat down next to Joo Young.

"Tell me of the girl's origin and the beginning you met" said Joo Soong, who made her bite her own lips.

This mouth. It seems I found a pent-up talent of myself. I'm good at acting and making up scenarios as it turns out.

"Come, tell me about it."

Joo Young exhaled.

"Daddy remember when I was the Korean-Malaysian Defense Ambassador last year?" ask Joo Young. The man began to play his part.

Joo Soong nodded.

"When I was in the country, I took the time to make a pilgrimage to my mother's grave. There, I saw him for the first time," he threw his gaze everywhere.

Joo Soong is still faithfully listening.

"He was crying in his mother's belly button. And suddenly a woman who was his aunt came and roughly pulled the veil she was wearing. He didn't even hesitate to slap the girl.

I saw her helping the girl by scaring her aunt with the gun I was carrying. Even I said, I was the girl's lover. Her aunt's face was terrified and I immediately took her away from the cemetery complex," she leaned her body against the back of the chair.

"I took him away and got into my car. Unknowingly, I spoke Korean with her, making her ask if I was Korean. Well I answered yes. She immediately cried while begging me to help her go to Korea. He wanted to meet his grandmother and father," he stared at his father's two beads.

"After that?" ask Joo Soong.

"Obviously I refused. It's just, I feel sorry for his condition. She told me all about her mother's family treatment. And I finally helped him come here by taking care of all his papers.

We boarded the same plane just a different class. That's why, the officers who came with me didn't know how things were going.

Arriving here, we separated in Myeongdong, he said his grandmother's house was not far from there. After that we never met again."

"How did you guys get together?"

"I'm not done yet, Dad."

"Oh, okay continue."

"Five months later, precisely on Christmas Eve, Min Hyuk and I, who had just come out of Myeongdong Cathedral, accidentally met a veiled woman. It turned out to be Jia. That night I immediately asked for his phone number and we started more conversations from then on.

Since it was so intense to communicate, I learned that her father had died before she returned to Korea and after three months of living here, her grandmother died. He became alone. And after I realized that I loved her and wanted to protect her. Luckily my expression of love was reciprocated by him," the man smiled at the end of the story.

He glanced sharply at his father.

"Are you satisfied?"

Joo Soong clapped his hands as if he had just seen the appearance of someone on stage.

"Dad proud of you, son. Father's son is gentle."

Joo Young just threw her lips annoyed at her father's behavior which seemed to be exaggerated.

"Then, did you approve of our marriage?"

Joo Soong stood up from where he sat.

He glanced at his son.

"Dad told you, I'd agree with your decision if I could still accept it. But the one you're worried about is your religion. Meet me again if you've made a decision I can accept. As long as it remains tight to hold a marriage of different religions, as long as it is also the father will not give his blessing," The middle-aged man smiled.

"Dad go first. Say hello to your lover."

Joo Soong stepped away leaving behind Joo Young who was still staring at her back.

The middle-aged man stepped up followed by his bodyguards.

Joo Young leaned her body roughly on the back of the chair and rubbed her face roughly as well.

Damnit damnit! he swore in his heart.
