Asphalt Edge Empty House

Asphalt Edge Empty House
Chapter 24 Wingit

The sun had started to rise, the warm morning air hit Siska's beautiful face. The policewoman was seen walking back and forth, in front of the porch of the village chief's house, it seems that she was restless waiting for the arrival of Tomy.

"Later the full moon night, it means they're gonna take down the girls soon, hopefully we can still save Linda."

"God help us just this once, Linda's a good girl I don't want her to be a demon."

"Where are you, please come here soon."

Siska was still grasping the phonsell belonging to the village chief. He tries to contact Tomy and Wira, but always fails. Siska is increasingly anxious because their time is getting narrower by the minute.

"Mbak Siska is calm first yes, if help from the city does not come, we villagers are ready to help, even though life is at stake."

Suddenly the voice of the village chief surprised Siska, he turned his body and saw the village chief smiling while grasping something wrapped in black cloth.

"Sorry Mr. Kades, I was too anxious to realize the presence of the father. What are you holding, sir?"

"Oh. This ancestral heirloom keris belongs to the founder of this village. It's been hereditary in bequeath to us. I happen to be the head of the twelfth generation village."

"Later after I stop serving as the village chief, this kris will be handed over to the elected village chief, to continue the task of protecting the villagers."

The village head recounted the history of the formation of their village, and its relation to the heirloom keris that is currently in his hands. The chat lasted for quite a while until Siska could be a bit calmer.

For a while the anxiety in Siska was reduced, but the look on her face still depicted Siska's restless mood.

The girl was still worried about Linda's situation, especially when she left Linda in a very desperate state.

"I shouldn't have left Linda back then. Right now he must be depressed and scared."

There was regret tucked away in the depths of Siska's heart. She regretted leaving Linda alone. But how else, Siska had no choice, even though he was equipped with martial skills in the police, but to deal directly with four people at once is not an easy thing, he said, especially at that time, they had firearms.

Siska does not want to end up like Revelation, so she is forced to leave Linda in order to ask for help.

"It's nine o'clock but Tomy hasn't come yet, should I take the plunge, save Linda without any help from the police?"

The village chief noticed Siska who was back daydreaming, he perfectly understood the anxiety in Siska's heart. Not wanting to disturb any longer, the village chief immediately got up from his seat, then stepped away leaving Siska who did not respond as he bade his farewell.

Moments after the village chief left, Siska regained her senses from her daydream, she repeated her monole to the side, and saw the village chief no longer sitting nearby. At that moment Siska felt very silly, how could she to the point of ignoring the host.

Buru hurried Siska back into the house to apologize, but she did not see the village chief around the house. Siska patted her forehead in shame for being disrespectful.

Then someone slapped his shoulder from behind. Siska almost screamed in surprise, she turned her head with a look of annoyance.

"What are you doing here, who are you looking for?"

It turned out that he was Darmanto, one of the village chiefs' confidants in charge of caring for livestock.

"Oh mas Darmanto, sorry I was a bit surprised. I was looking for Mr. Kades, but he wasn't anywhere."

"Pak Kades is going to the house of the sepuh. It looks like he'll discuss the matter of mbak Siska to the village elders."

Darmanto's words made Siska feel bad. Because of his presence in the village, all the villagers became involved in the problems he was facing.

"I feel bad to bother the kades sir and the whole village."

"Mas Darmanto knows a shortcut to the forest, if I may ask for help delivered mas."

"Don't look for Siska's mother's case, though I know the way, I dare not take Siska's mother to the forest again."

Because there is famous wingit, many spirits of lost murder victims. If we are desperate to get into the middle of the forest, guaranteed we will not be able to come out again mbak."

"It is said that those who fell victim to the sixty-fifth anniversary are still wandering around looking for a way home."

"Even until now there are still villagers missing in the forest mbak."

Sulu kuduk Siska shuddered, he remembered when he first came to the village with one of the residents. The old man had reminded Siska not to look back, but out of curiosity, Siska ignored the warning and what happened later, after all, he was really frightened by something in the forest.

Several black shadow figures stood among the trees with glowing red eyes. It was only fitting that the time in the Siska forest felt strange. The girl seemed to be in another dimension, where there was not a single animal she could find, except a black starling that led her to the edge of the forest.

"Then how about Darmanto, are there no people, or alternative roads to get to the forest?"

"It would be safer if Siska went to take the path around the hill. Maybe in between eight, or nine hours drive, Siska's mom will reach across the forest."

Darmanto tries to provide an alternative as an option. According to him, taking a detour will be much safer than having to take a forest path that is known by villagers wingit or haunted.

Siska persevered hearing Darmanto's words, the remaining time would not be enough to take a detour. Siska was worried that Linda would not survive if she had to wait that long.

"What should I do now, this village is so remote, if I choose a detour, will Linda be okay there?"

In the midst of his heartbreak, the village chief came to Siska. The man was not alone, with him was a white-bearded grandfather in all-black clothes.

"Mbak Siska, this is Wongso Darsono. He was the village head before me. If he had to go across the forest, he was willing to drive. But there's a risk we might encounter when we get into the middle of the forest."

The village chief hesitated to continue his words, but seeing Siska's face suddenly so often, he also finally said all the risks they had to bear while exploring the forest.

"Maybe Siska has heard the history of the forest from Darmanto, and indeed the existence of mbak."

"If yesterday Siska was able to get out of the forest safely, it was just a stroke of luck, but this time it wasn't necessarily. So from now on prepare mentally mbak Siska."

"In the forest it would be a lot of astral interference, we might be misled, or it could even enter the occult portal. Creatures are good at manipulating the mind, so never daydreaming, or getting carried away by emotions, they will easily trap us."

"Oh yes, I'm sorry, it's a bit personal but I have to say it before we really go into the forest."

"What personal thing does Mr. Kades mean?"

Siska immediately cut off the speech of the village chief, she was impatient to find out, because she did not want anyone to hinder their mission.

"Once again forgive me, is Siska coming to the moon?"

Hearing the village chief's question, Siska so smiled knotfully, in this day and age there are still people who consider such questions as taboo.

"Oh that, now still not the date sir, hopefully not come early. But obviously for now I haven't been able to."

"So if it's a problem, I'm safe sir."

"Haha..!"

"Sorry, Siska, frankly I am a bit uncomfortable asking about this, but this is important because the soft people are very happy with the smell of blood, so I want to mbak Siska from now on."

The village chief laughed while scratching his head. He was relieved that the greatest abstinence was certain to no longer exist. Now they just need to prepare physical, mental, and supplies.

Then immediately set off for the forest accompanied by Mbah Wongso, the village elder who was very familiar with the ins and outs of the wingit forest.

Almost twelve o'clock in the afternoon, when Siska walked towards the terrace of the house. He was ready with a small backpack, borrowed from the village chief's son.

Before leaving Siska checked the contents of the bag again so that no items were left behind. Food, mineral water, medicine, clothing, flashlights, and of course daggers in neat arrangement. Afterwards they prayed together, then headed for the forest.

Meanwhile Tomy and Wira had entered the village gate, they had asked the residents who were working in the rice field.

"Sorry ma'am asked, where is the village chief's house?"

A young mother wearing a caping hat in shabby clothes approached them. The woman noticed Wira and Tomy's makeup, then with a plain face she asked.

"Who is this father, what is the need to find the village chief?"

"We are from Surabaya city police, we mean to come here, to pick up a friend."

"Oh lost city girl, she was in the house of the kades sir, but now they must have gone into the forest."

The woman answered and then gave directions to the village chief's house. Wira and Tomy thanked him and immediately gasped towards the village chief's house.

"The woman said Siska and the village chief had gone to the forest, we should catch up with them Tom, hopefully it's not too late."

Tomy drove his car very fast, they were chasing with time as if hunting.

"Linda hold on wait for us..."
