"Rangga, what do you mean?"
Ardan tried to control his shock.
"I'm really sorry Mas, I didn't mean to complicate the situation. But, I really want to protect Arin."
Answer Rangga seriously.
Ardan stared intensely at Rangga, as if trying to find the honesty behind his gaze.
"Mas, I'm not messing around. I want to marry Arin and I want to take care of her, protect her. Maybe this sounds silly and I know that Ardan doesn't believe me either. But, Arin was the only reason I came back here. And to be honest, I've been in love with Arin since our first meeting, even now. I've tried to forget it even I went far to America on the grounds of continuing college. But every time I tried to get him out of my head, fate made me meet him again and again."
Ardan was still speechless, trying to digest what Rangga said.
"Mas, please give me my blessing to marry Arin."
Said Rangga in a soft tone pleading.
"Rangga, I know you're a good man. And as a brother, of course I also want Arin to get the best. I would be very happy if Arin married a man who loved her sincerely, and could protect her and be ready to accept her with all her flaws. But to marry her, the decision was in Arin's own hands. You better talk to him. Give your good intentions to him. I can only support and wish you all the best."
Answer Ardan.
"I know Mas. But before I tell Arin, I need to get permission from his family first. I knew it might not be easy to convince Arin. But I'll try to prove my words."
"By the way, why did you suddenly say this? I mean, are you really sure of how you feel? If it's just a momentary feeling of liking, you'd better back off. Never bother Arin. I won't let anyone hurt Arin again. He's suffered enough."
"No, I'm absolutely sure of how I feel. I love Arin, and I want her to be my wife. I know what I'm doing is ridiculous and hard to believe, but I'm gonna prove my point."
Rangga looked very serious with his words, he did not even flinch.
"For now I believe in you. But if you hurt Arin once or even just one drop of tears falls from his eye because of you, then you'll deal with me."
Said Ardan with a sharp look.
"God willing, I will strive for it. I can't promise I won't make her cry, but I'll fight for it."
Reply Rangga steadily.
"Alright, as a fellow man I hold your word."
Reply Ardan.
Ardan and Rangga were walking back to the waiting room in front of the NICCU room, and then Rangga accidentally saw Arin who was talking to several men and looked very familiar.
Rangga remembered exactly, one of them. It was the same man, who a few years ago he saw Arin leaning on his shoulder on one of the benches in this hospital.
Rangga's feelings raged. On one hand, he was annoyed with the man. But he realized he was nothing and he had no right to feel that frustration. On the other hand he also felt very curious, who the man was and how he could be so close to Arin. Even Arin seemed awkward when talking to the three men.
Ardan who was at that time beside Rangga, could see the glare of sharp eyes with a look of dislike to see what was in front of him.
The man immediately gave an explanation, before Rangga made his own conclusion.
"That's Hadi, Bimo and Irfan. They were friends of Arin during college. Even with Irfan, he's known her since High School."
Ardan explained that he pointed at the three men one by one.
Rangga felt awkward because Ardan realized his sense of regret seeing Arin close to another man. Finally he just nodded while smiling awkwardly.
Rangga and Ardan approached Arin who was still chatting with her friends.
"Bimo, Hadi, Irfan.. How are you guys doing?"
Sapa Ardan's.
"Eh, there's Mas Ardan. Thank you for the good news. Sorry we just got here. We just found out that Grandpa was sick and had a critical time, even because Arin was absent at the graduation ceremony."
Answer Irfan.
Ardan introduced Rangga to the three friends of Arin.
"How are you, long time no see. Maybe the doctor had forgotten, but the doctor was also the one who helped my father's surgery in this hospital."
Said Bimo while extending a hand.
"Thank God the good news. Sorry, every day it has become the responsibility of a Doctor to handle patients alternately so it is rather difficult to remember patients one by one. By the way, how's your dad doing?"
Rangga asked in a stale manner while replying to Bimo's hand.
"Alhamdulillah Doc, since living a healthy lifestyle Dad's condition is getting better. It was also thanks to the Doctor's advice."
"Allah, thank goodness then. Say hello to your father."
Said Rangga sincerely.
"Where is Rin's grandfather's condition, has it been rumored?"
Ask Ardan.
"Alhamdulillah the new grandfather siuman bang, but his condition is still very weak. Doctor Indra is inside to check on Grandpa's condition."
Answer Arin.
"Allah, thank goodness."
Ardan heaved a sigh of relief.
"Weak conditions in postoperative patients are common. Inshaa Allah in the next few days grandfather's condition will improve."
Rangga.
"Oh yes Arin, Rangga wants to talk to you about something. It's important."
Ardan conveyed the intention of Rangga who wanted to speak with Arin.
"Rin, if that's what we're waiting for outside. Looking for a canteen."
Said Hadi while pulling his two best friends.
----------
"What are you talking about? Is this about grandpa? Is there a problem with the operation?"
Arin began to panic.
"Relax Arin, don't panic just yet. This is not about grandfather. But, there really is something important that I want to talk to you about."
Arin gawked for a moment.
"What is important, Mom?"
Ask Arin who seems curious.
"I'm sorry before, maybe this sounds silly and very presumptuous. And I also know maybe this is not the right time to say it."
Arin who looked increasingly curious looked at Rangga suspiciously.
"Arin, I want to propose to you. Make you my wife."
Finally the sentence was said from Rangga.
The words he had been listening to for years, came out just like that.
The sentence that he had long wanted to say to the girl who was now standing before him, with a face that looked confused and awkward.
