Ariana For Rangga

Ariana For Rangga
Episode Thirty Four

At one in the morning, Rangga had just returned from the Hospital. For three days he did not come home because of the many patients he had to handle, not to mention the surgery he had to do. Moreover, Dr. Arum who is also a new heart disease specialist took maternity leave. The increasing number of patients who must be treated by him because the patients who should be handled by Doctor Arum are now his responsibility.

Rangga was just about to go up to the second floor when suddenly the living room lights came on.

"The stairs, we need to talk."

She stood right behind Rangga.

"Ma, Rangga is tired. Can't we talk tomorrow?"

"Rangga, did you deliberately avoid mama?"

Mom asked firmly.

"Ma, Rangga is tired. Three days Rangga is sleep deprived because it handles many patients. If you want to talk about the engagement, please do whatever you want. Rangga doesn't have time to take care of everything."

Replied Rangga in a cold tone.

"Thus you must take a leave of absence. We're going to see Amelia."

"Ma, does Rangga have to come? This is just a proposal, it feels like Rangga does not have to be there. Rangga will only apply for a shift exchange during the marriage contract later."

"Rangga, at least you listen to mama first. It's also for your benefit. Why don't you care so much? At least, can't you take a little time to meet Amelia? Will you stay like this if you get married?"

Mama seemed to start to grow furious with the indifferent attitude that Rangga showed.

"Ma, please tell Amelia. Rangga is a Doctor and Rangga's priority is the patient. Likes not like that he should accept it. Otherwise, Rangga can't be with her."

Answer Rangga lightly.

"The man, answered my mother honestly. Is this because you don't love Amelia? Is this how you show your disobedience over this matchmaking?"

"The young man sure knows the answer."

Then Rangga melengos went to his room, leaving mama who was still silent sculpting.

"Is Rangga's attitude still unclear Ma?"

Papa, who had been watching his wife and son from the end of the stairs, finally opened his voice as he walked over to his wife.

"Pa.. At least Rangga should try to get to know Amelia further. Mama was sure that after she got to know Amelia, she would agree too. Amelia's a good girl Pa.."

"Then let them get to know each other first, don't force your will. Mama also had to think about the feelings of Rangga and Amelia. Papa knows Amelia's a good girl, Papa also doesn't mind if she becomes the daughter-in-law in this house. But if Rangga is not happy, Papa is the first person who will refuse this matchmaking. You better think about your plan again, before it's too late. My dad reminded my mom before. Don't let Rangga hate Mama because Mama can never understand her own son."

Papa turned around, returned to the room.

The next day, Rangga had just finished performing the dzuhur prayer at the hospital mosque.

Rangga will return to his room, and he accidentally runs into Amelia.

"Doctor Rangga, can we talk to you for a second?"

Ask Amelia.

"Sorry, I'm working. If you want to talk about a proposal, you can talk to your mom."

Reply Rangga.

Rangga was just about to leave, when Amelia pulled her white coat.

"Wait for the doctor, at least talk to me for a moment. There's something I need to make sure of the doctor."

Rangga sighed deeply, then turned around.

"OK, talk. I've only got ten minutes to deal with the next patient."

Rangga.

"Doctor, I was sorry if maybe I sounded presumptuous. But I have to ask the Doctor directly, has the Doctor agreed to this matchmaking? Please answer honestly Doc."

"Wouldn't tomorrow's event be held? Never mind, you don't have to think about that. Mama has prepared everything well."

"But I'm asking the doctor's opinion."

Amelia interrupted.

"Amelia, I don't have much time to take care of things like this. You don't have to worry, my mom has everything ready. I'll have permission to change shifts at the wedding contract."

"Okay Doctor, I understand. At least I got the answer. Excuse me Doctor, Assalamualaikum."

Amelia passed away, even before Rangga returned his greetings.

Rangga, do you have to accept me? Even your gaze seemed to say, I am only a stranger to you. Is there not a little feeling in your heart for me?

Inner Amelia while holding back her tears.

"Doctor Rangga, the patient is waiting in the room."

A Sister reminded Rangga who was still silent looking at the back of the girl who had passed from before her.

"Oh, Yes Sus. I'll be there soon."

Rangga rushed back to his room.

"Tante, Amel apologise. Amel could not continue this engagement. Amel please, please just cancel Auntie."

That afternoon Amelia met Mama Rangga at her home.

"Came, Amelia.. Butwhy? Try to explain well with aunt why did you suddenly change your mind? Amelia, tomorrow is the day of your engagement with Rangga.. Even the preparations are done."

"Tante, Amel doesn't want to be a burden to Doctor Rangga. After all, it seems like Doctor Rangga did not want this matchmaking. Amel didn't want to be a hindrance to Doctor Rangga."

"Amelia, you're misunderstanding son. Rangga did not want it. It's just, you know for yourself. In a Doctor and for him the patient remains a priority."

"Amel understood Aunt, but Amel had already decided. Amel could not accept this engagement. Unless Dr. Rangga himself asks for it. Amel did not want to be like a beggar, who only received mercy from others. Aunty is a very good woman, and Amel is very happy to know Auntie. For Amel, Auntie was like Amel's own mother. But as a mother, Amel sure surely Aunt wants Doctor Rangga happy right. Therefore, Amel chose to retreat. Amel apologizes Auntie.."

"Amelia.."

"Tante, trust Amel. Doctor Rangga would be happier if Auntie could understand him. Aunt is his mother, Amel sure Auntie must know better how Doctor Rangga feels."

After Amelia said goodbye, Mama Rangga stayed in her room.

"Yes Allah.. What I've done. I let Amelia down, and I couldn't even understand my own child's wishes. What should I do now. How can I correct my mistake.."

"Mama why? Since Papa came home earlier, it seems like Mama has been quieter. How are the preparations for Rangga and Amelia's engagement tomorrow?"

Mr. Bayu opened the conversation after dinner.

"Pa, looks like Papa's right. Rangga doesn't want this match."

Answer Mama Rangga.

"I mean mama?"

Mr. Bayu opened the glasses that were still attached to his face.

"Last afternoon before Papa came home, Amelia went to see Mama. And he's canceling the engagement."

Mama Rangga.

"Does Mama understand now? Never mind Ma, Rangga is an adult. Papa is sure he knows what is best for him, let him make his own choices. Believe me, Rangga would be very happy if he could make his choice without our interference."

"Hem.. Yes, Mama understands Pa."

Answer Mama Rangga.
