FULFILL PROMISES

" Rama. Let's take a shower. Brother has heated the water for you." said Tama while hugging her already helpless sister.

The atmosphere became very quiet. Only Tama's sobs were heard. The boy, who recently turned two, had to lose his entire family. Even his sister, who was only a few months old, had to leave forever.

" Rama...why are you as silent as they are? Is Brother evil to you? Why did you change like them?" Tama wondered, while stroking her sister's hair.

Tama was confused by everything she saw. For a moment he daydreamed, propping his right and left cheeks with both hands.

" Why doesn't everybody talk to me? Fathering.. Mother.. Brother Moon.. Where're you? Help me.."

Tama became agitated. He began to worry, the people around the place were not his family. Then, he ran to get a towel and clothes from the cupboard in his room.

" I want to take a shower so that my body doesn't smell. Mom once told me men can't smell. So he told me to take a bath three times a day. My clothes stink. I gotta take my shirt off, take a shower."

" Rama, I'll take a shower first. You don't go anywhere. Brother just for a moment, really." Tama's message to his sister.

Tama went to the bathroom and immediately took off her clothes. He went into the bucket and washed his whole body with water.

Up to fifteen minutes, Tama indulges her body by soaking in water. Then he remembered that, right now, only he was in his house.

" Rama. forgive Brother. Brother forgot, you are still here." muttered Tama then moved from the place to soak and entered into his room.

With great difficulty, Tama took her clothes. His high clothing made him unable to take it. Luckily, there was a long sleeve shirt hanging down. He tried to grab it and pull it. Because the clothes he pulled, was the bottom of the clothes, once he managed to pull them, all his clothes fell down and hit his head.

" Ouch.. Mom, I'm sorry. I've dropped all my clothes that Mom had tidied up. I promise I will rearrange it." said Tama as she took all her clothes and put them one by one, on her bed.

When finished, he began to wear fragrant powder as when his mother put it all over his body. Then he immediately put on his clothes.

" Mother..I have perfumed.. May I take Rama away from here? There's no one here. I'm afraid to sleep alone in this house. Rama now does not want to play. From then on he continued to fall asleep." said Tama in front of a photo of her mother on her bedroom table.

Not waiting long, Tama immediately took her sister and carried her out of her house. And again, he carried his sister with great difficulty. Although his sister's weight has been reduced, but his body which is only a difference of how many centi meters with him, still makes him overwhelmed.

He passed by and looked at the people around his runaway courtyard lying on the ground. Their faces and bodies have changed. They don't recognize their faces.

" You are not my Mother, Father and Brothers. You're who? Then where are Mom, Dad and the others?" Tama wondered to herself, feeling confused by what she saw.

The day has begun to afternoon, the sun is only two hours away from sinking. Tama looked up at the sky. He didn't want to be in that place when it was getting dark. Then he walked down the path. This time he chose a path to the west that he had never crossed before.

" Rama, do you know, Brother is very lonely. Brother is afraid, wake up Rama. Let's go play. Crying away. Say something to Brother." said Tama as he walked down the street to the west of his house.

" I don't know where this is going. Hopefully we can meet Mom, Dad and our brothers there."

" Mom, why do we have to walk? Where's Miss Rani, won't she pick us up?" ask Khalid to his mother.

" Stttts.. Never mind, we better go there ourselves. Maybe Ms. Rani is very busy. Hp is also inactive. Maybe because it was too busy, he did not have time to charge his cellphone battery." replied Arti.

" But why don't we get in the car or something? why do we have to walk? Bu Rani's house, said Mother is still far away."

" It's okay, Khalid. You are innocent. Mother is guilty of forcing you to live like this. I'm sad to make you like this too. If you had any other choice, you wouldn't have chosen a life like this, son." Said Arti then slowly she shed her tears and fell on Khalid's cheek.

" Mom don't be sad. Khalid promised that one day he would make Mom happy. Khalid promised to be a smart boy. Smart looking for money. If Khalid can't go to school, Khalid will find a job with a big salary to make ends meet" Khalid comforted his crying mother.

" Khalid my son, you're a child. But your mind is very mature, son. I'm proud of you. But, you're a kid. You shouldn't have thought about that. It is my mother who should think about how to make you happy. Looking for money to support you."

" Mom, Khalid knows how we are. Khalid knew that Dad was gone. There's nothing more we can hope for. If Mom works for Bu Rani, maybe our lives will be better. But, Khalid did not want to, I became a maid. Being a maid is tired. Khalid doesn't want me to get tired."

Time passed, and the day began to evening. Tama continued to walk down the quiet smooth asphalt road. Not a single person walked down that road.

" Rama, it seems like it's evening. I'm afraid there's nobody here. Rama, wake. What's wrong with you? Come on. laugh. Cry. Say something to Brother." said Tama. He looked terrified walking through the quiet forest and there was no light at all.

After saying with his sister, the sound of lightning struck quite loudly. They also seek refuge. The wind was blowing pretty hard. I felt his whole body cold. He pulled over and took shelter under the trees.

Luckily he found a small hut a few meters from the side of the road. Had there not been a flash that intermittently illuminated the area, Tama would not have known there was a small hut nearby. Trudgingly he walked towards the small hut. When he entered, inside the hut was very dark. Even he can't see himself.

But his fear of lightning, forced him to stay in the hut. He put his sister in a small cot in the hut. Then he sat crouching in the corner of the hut while hugging his own body that felt cold.
