CHAPTER 18: WRONG PLACE?

Hasel did not care for the surprised Vann, he continued walking forward while saying "Just follow me, don't look around like a fool".

Vann nodded and followed Hasel again, but his eyes continued to observe around where there were countless disciples who were practicing swords or other battle techniques.

The name of the Wood Sword Academy was not without reason at all, the academy was famous for their wood sword fighting techniques.

Although not wearing a real sword, anyone who dared to underestimate the power of a wooden sword in the academy would regret it.

Yesterday night, Vann searched for as much information regarding the Wood Sword Academy as possible, however he would become a student here.

After reading some information that is quite unclear, Vann found out in this academy there are several techniques that make wooden swords become no less powerful than real swords.

Even the head of the Wood Sword Academy was a famous figure in the cultivation world, he managed to become a mid-level cultivator and was only 50 years old.

Each academy has their own age limit. As Vann knew, low-level academies only trained their students until the age of 40.

If disciples did not manage to reach the intermediate level cultivators and their age had already passed from 40 years old, they would no longer be given resources by the academy except to become teachers here. In addition, those who could become teachers also had to pass countless tests, too, therefore most of the people who had already crossed the age limit preferred to become free cultivators and look for hidden resources that might be able to make them strong.

So the head of the Wood Sword Academy who could become an intermediate cultivator at the age of 50 was already very great.

At first Vann thought Hasel was taking him to the house where he lived, but Vann found that they continued to walk far enough away from the settlement in the middle of the mountain that was the settlement of the students of the academy.

Hasel led Vann to a warehouse in a corner of the city, pointing to a warehouse that looked like a dump before saying "From today, you live here".

Vann opened his mouth wide in shock because what was in front of him was definitely not a home for humans to live in "Teacher Hasel, are we not misplaced?".

"Wrong place? How could a cultivator like me make such a small mistake" Hasel said coldly "It seems that you are still misunderstanding here, you are indeed accepted to the Wood Sword Academy but a person without talent like you cannot become a disciple. At most, you can be an academy cleaner. Besides, you can't join the class like the other students, your job is to just clean up the academy every day and not have to study. As long as there are areas in the academy that are not clean, you will not be given food! I don't have much time to explain all this to you, you better ask your other colleagues, they've lived here longer than you! After your age has passed from 40 years old to become an academy cleaner, you must be returned to the city. If you can't resist until you're 40, then you can stop now to become a cultivator".

Then Hasel walked away from this place coldly, as if he had wasted too much time on Vann who was completely worthless.

As a student at the academy, Vann was not allowed to take classes which meant he could not study, besides the academy assigned him to clean up the academy every day.

Vann began to wonder if he was accepted here as a student or cleaner?

While Vann was still confused, the figure of a man emerged from the warehouse "Are you the new member who came with Teacher Hasel? Don't think about it, Teacher Hasel's attitude was indeed rude like that".

Vann stared at the figure of a man about 30 years old in front of him "My name is Vann, I'm a new student in the academy".

"My name is Foltra, you can ask me anything about cleaning up at the academy, after all I am your senior" Foltra said smiling kindly "I have lived here for 10 years and have never been allowed to join any class, therefore I am still a normal human being without any cultivation strength. Lately, there aren't many more people joining the clean-up group, so there's just us".

"10 years? Very long!", said Vann in surprise.

Foltra smiled bitterly "Most of the people must have given up, the longest person other than me can only stay here for 5 years. After knowing there was no chance of becoming a cultivator, they accepted the reality regarding their talent and returned to the city where they used to live. As for me, I might just be a fool who keeps hoping that one day my dream of becoming a cultivator will happen, for this reason I keep waiting".

Vann's face became increasingly heavy as a result of Foltra's words, it still didn't seem easy to become a cultivator even though he had already arrived at the academy.

Foltra certainly found Myro's heavy face, so he waved his hand as quickly as possible "Don't despair that fast, in the end there is still a cleaner who managed to become a cultivator about 7 years ago. He was my junior, but he managed to increase his strength and was accepted as a student. Out of the 20 people who had been accepted here, only he had managed to become a cultivator! Maybe next is your turn!".

Vann smiled, he knew Foltra was just trying to make herself not despair "I know, thank Senior Foltra! Ever since I came here, I definitely have not given up so easily! After all, there are people I should meet at the top of the cultivators".

"Good spirit!", said Foltra throwing a broom to Vann "You don't need to be too formal, just call me Foltra! Let's go, our duties sweep in from morning till lunch break. During the lunch break, we are given a 1 hour break before sweeping again until night time which is dinner time! We don't need to clean the houses of the disciples, our task is just to clear the study hall of the Wood Sword Academy! I'll take you there".

Foltra walked forward first while Vann immediately followed her while carrying the broom that was thrown just now after putting the bag she had brought from home to the warehouse.

Although his trip to the Wood Sword Academy was not up to expectations and Vann only became a cleaner, but Vann did not give up.

He was sure, an opportunity must have come so that he could become a cultivator and be accepted as a disciple of the academy.
