"You're so nice" I said, wiping the rain on the bicycle saddle
by hand. "But right now I don't want to ask for anything" I just want to go home.
"Please let me repay the kindness of your heart" the woman insisted.
He lifted the burning ball with one hand. His hands were small and pale like his face, his fingers were thin.
"I really want to return the favor."
"My mother and father must have been anxious" I said, looking up
streetlamps.
No one, all looks lonely.
No one can protect me from this lunatic if he becomes dangerous. How crazy is he? my thinking. Could he be dangerous?
Did I make him angry for not wanting to obey, for not wanting to
asking something?
"It's no joke" said the woman, she could see there was a sense of doubt in my eyes. "Your request will come true. I promise."
His eyes. The red ball suddenly lit up even brighter. "Pronounce your first request, Shopie."
I looked at him again while thinking hard. I was cold, wet, hungry and a little scared. I just want to go home and change. My Dad's mom and my brother Rendy must be worried, why I haven't come home too on a dark day.
But what if he won't let me go? What if I can't get rid of it? What if he follows me home?
ignited. Maybe if necessary I can run to the nearest house and ask for help.
But, I thought, it might be easier to just obey this crazy woman and ask for something. Maybe he'll settle down and continue on his way, and let me go home.
"What do you want, Shopie?" his insistence.
His black eyes lit up red, just like the burning ball he was holding. Suddenly he looked very old. Old fashioned. His skin was pale and tight, I felt like I could see his skull. I stood stiff and silent. I don't know what to ask for. Then I let go of the talk.
"I want to be the most powerful player on my basketball team!"
I don't know why I said that at the time. I guess because I'm nervous. And
due to the thought of Yuni and all the events of the day, which ended in a basketball practice time disaster. So that's my request. Of course I immediately felt like a really stupid person. I mean, out of all the things that can be asked in this world, why ask for something like that?
But the woman did not look surprised. He nodded, closing his eyes for a moment. The red ball lit up the brighter it became, the brighter the instant the red light that was like a flame shone on me. Then immediately dim.
Marissa thanked him once more, turned around, put the glass ball into the purple bag, and quickly walked away.
I breathed a sigh of relief. I'm so glad he left! I got on the bike, I turned around, and I quickly piled towards the house.
Perfect ending to a perfect day, I thought bitterly. Trapped in the rain with a crazy woman. And that request? I know everything's really stupid.
I know I don't have to think about it anymore. Steady bike I left the place, moving fast to keep away, wet and slippery road makes it difficult to speed up my bike.
The wind that blew the rain towards me made me shiver, slowly but surely after I was exhausted and almost fell off my bike, my house began to look, and I felt, it was a relief when I finally got home. I want to take a shower and forget about today.
