“Thank you,” Nina said as she picked up her ticket.
“Should have learned French, but I was lazy,” muttered Amelia when she threw her body in the chair facing the window.
“Looks like we won't have time to learn. There are orientation tests, interviews, and tours once we get there later, Nina's” reminds Amelia to be back.
“You're kidding right. The time of all those activities should we follow all?” answer Amelia.
“That's only part of all the events,” Nina said while wondering if Amelia had read her Junior Weekend brochure. “That interview is the main event of Junior Weekend, so they can judge us. You want to read my brochure?” ask Nina.
“No, thank you, I read the brochure. Just kind of forgot a little bit,” said Amelia. It squirms and evaporates. “May not be boring!” amelia said again expectantly. Then he turned his back to Nina, sitting cross-legged enjoying the view outside the window.
Nina then bit her own lips. Amelia's attitude towards him was very clear. He has no interest in attending Junior Weekend. Or maybe it was Nina who made him feel bored.
Nina shook her head then pulled the sketchbook inside her bag. If Amelia doesn't care, she can't do anything. Nina could only give up on the circumstances.
An hour later, Nina held up her seat and looked out the window as the bus entered the terminal area.
Amelia had been silent for an hour and a half. Nina lost her appetite for starting conversations.
Nina took a long breath. Let go of a little bit of his burden. She was sad, but she had to face it because Amelia was her cousin anyway.
After Amelia's father succeeded in his business, Amelia changed as she is today. His attitude turned cold to Nina and as if he did not need Nina anymore.
Amelia is ashamed to be friends with Nina. Amelia only came if she was difficult or desperate, but every day throughout her life Amelia can indeed be said to be arrogant. In addition, now his father has become a successful and respected person.
This may also be added to the environmental influences at Pelita Harapan High School. But it doesn't feel good that Amelia keeps acting so indifferent towards Nina, like lately. Amelia didn't want to talk to Nina about anything. He just kept quiet and thought it was as if Nina wasn't there beside him.
Alright. Although Nina pretended not to feel hurt or disappointed, it would not change the atmosphere either. Throw that thought away from his brain. Focus this weekend on the future, not on the past.
Whatever Amelia said or did to her, but Amelia remained her cousin forever after all.
Sometimes, at the bottom of her heart Nina could feel that Amelia was also very fond of her. But Amelia did not show her affection.
There is no benefit for now, however, other than silence. As the wheels of the bus began to run, Nina was covered in a happy feeling that was very pleasing to her heart.
It will be a weekend at one of the famous colleges in the area! It'll be so much fun! Nina is determined, nothing can ruin her days there for the weekend. Including her own cousin Amelia.
