The Ustadzah

The Ustadzah
The Night of One Suro

Today, Miya is not at all focused on learning. Many times Ustadzah Retno rebuked him when he misread some verses of the Quran. Although indeed Miya still can not remember how to read the Quran that he once mastered when a child (because Miya only two days in this boarding school) But this time he was the same once unable to concentrate.

The appearance of "Ustadzah Ghost" was at dawn, Ustadzah Romah who glared sharply at him, the strange behavior of Nabila and the stench he was trying to cover from his black clothes, and the strange behavior of Nabila, as well as the fact that Nabila also has a black shirt and hood has made Miya more confused. His mind wandered everywhere, guessing the no-no. However, when he saw the atmosphere of the class that was so shahdu and solemn in reciting the holy verses of the Quran, Miya's heart was a little calm.

It's okay, if there are ghosts in boarding houses like this, anyway in every place there is a waiting genie, right? It is natural that boarding schools in remote villages like this have one or two creepy stories.

Then about Nabila, his son used to love to keep secrets from me and Mirna. Besides about clothes and black hoods that smell bad .. do not need to be dizzy deh ... After all Nabila is indeed a nephew of Ustadzah Romah, maybe they both have their own business so that requires Nabila to wear the same clothes as the Ustadzah-Ustadzah.

I am here to seek tranquility, to atone for my sins, to return to the way of God. I have to focus on studying religion and worship, things like this can not make my concentration break, can not make me not calm! mumbled Miya in heart.

Miya seemed to be trying to calm herself from the excessive worry about the strange events that occurred during her stay in this cottage. With a deep sigh, he then returned to concentrate on reading the Quran that was opened before him, Bismillahirahmanirahim.

....

The following days, Miya spent thoroughly enjoying cottage activities such as teaching, Fardhu Prayer, Sunnah Prayer, learning Fiqh Science, and many other things. Only the dawn prayers were Miya reluctant to do so on time. He prefers to do it himself in the room, of course Miya is still afraid of the appearance of the ghastly ghost. He did not dare to go down the stairs of the dormitory building two nights, especially having to walk to the front of the boarding school, right in front of the dark forest. He had requested permission from Ustadzah Shinta and promised to actually perform the Fajr Prayer in the room. Ustadzah Shinta who finally heard the reason why Miya walked into the forest alone that night –until found by Mr. Kades-willing to agree to Miya's request. It seems that Ustadzah Shinta understood the Ustadzah Ghost, did he ever see it?

But this time Miya seemed to be acting 'modo very' with all that. He prefers to prick himself in pesantren cottage activities. Miya also diligently woke up at dawn and performed the prayer in her own room, as promised. And because of that, he became aware that Nabila was always not in the room in the early morning until early morning.

Nabila once told him that he performed evening prayers with Ustadzah Romah, Imah, and Ulun at the place of Nyi Wati, continued until dawn prayers. Not only that, it seems that Nabila did not follow the same learning activities as Miya. Is Nabila different material, so he studied in another class? Or study with the Ustadzah-Ustadzah? Although his mind muttered wildly, the attitude of 'bodo very' that began to be applied by Miya again managed to make his mind calm. But because of that, from day to day during the week, Miya increasingly rarely communicates with Nabila.

However, communication with the Dina Trio, Ira, and Nina is getting closer. Miya increasingly played to their room, especially when the break before the Magrib Prayer, where the day became evening. Even after the Isya Prayer (about eight o'clock in the evening) the three of them never absent to deliver Miya back to the room. Yeah, three, because they're scared too. But tonight will be different, because there will be additional teaching activities after the Isya Prayer.

"In what order, huh?" Miya asked spontaneously when Dina recounted the additional teaching activities.

Unlike usual, Trio Dina, Nina, ira and Miya walked out of the mosque leading to the classroom of the second dorm building. Tonight they will be teaching in the room until dawn. While walking, they talked about this.

"Aheading Night one suro, Ukhti"

"One Muharram means?"

"Yes, God willing next week" Abun Nina.

Miya looked up at the sky while trying to calculate the date in her mind. It turns out he has been more than two weeks here, not felt already ahead of the Islamic New Year.

"Many?"

Moments later Miya recalled the village youth she asked for directions when she first came here. The young man managed to make Mirna afraid when he explained that usually people will come to this boarding school on the night of one suro.

"Yes! Later will be many people like Ukhti city" said Nina jubilant. It seems Nina was actually happy with the crowd, in contrast to Ira.

"Eh, what?"

"They asked for prayer, followed the study .. like that" replied Dina

"Rubble-Rubber! Later Nina will get a lot of snacks!"

"ah! They just make a fuss, worship is not khusyu! Nor is teaching special! Tomorrow morning we'll clean the field! City people can only get dirty!"

"Hush! Ira, Ukhti Miya's a city person too!" Snapping Dina

"Hahaha no papa, Dina. But ... Will it be that many?"

"A lot of people! Our field will be full of good cars!"

Furthermore, the three of them told that the activities of the night celebration of one suro in the boarding school is like that, there will be many people in the city every year. They conduct congregational worship and follow the studies held by this boarding school. But it was a diversion, according to Ira they came to ask for 'prayer blessing' to Ustadzah Nyi Wati.

The blessing prayer in question, is for the smooth running of each other's affairs, such as facilitating a soul mate, facilitating sustenance, to be elected in the general election, to pass the test, and so on and so forth. Thus, the guests who came were the city's elite, officials, even famous artists. This one suro night celebration has been routine for decades, even before Ira was born, and every night, the village will be crowded with celebrations. Quickly, the village youth initially thought Miya and Mirna were city people who regularly came there every night one suro.

Hearing about the celebration, Miya was less enthusiastic. He was even a little afraid, afraid when he met one of the clients who had booked him first. Miya doesn't want outsiders to know where she is here. Of course, only Mirna knew, even Mr. Indra, his boss, was not informed of this. He also did not take care of the resignation letter from Mr. Indra's company, and decided directly last night.

And what horrified him the most was the reason these people were here. Isn't that an act that leads to Shirk? asking for blessings to Ustadzah to launch his life. When Miya revealed this, Ira agreed. But he explained that according to his father (Pak Kades) it is not true. They keep asking for prayers to Allah SWT, through the worship and study held. Asking for a blessing prayer to Ustadzah Nyi Wati is only symbolic, because Ustadzah Nyi Wati is an elder, as well as the founder of this boarding school.

The four of them arrived at their classroom. At that time the room was so dark and terrible, very different in the morning when the study hours. Ira immediately turned on the class lights, Dina and Nina immediately took a chair and suckled it in a circle with a table right in the middle of the circle of chairs. Miya helped them, the three people looked very nervous. Then after everyone sat down, they began to bring out their own Quran.

"M-Tonight we have a turn to teach.. A-ayo let's just start friends, Ukhti ... Bismilbornrahmanirrahim" said Dina stammeringly.
