The Return of the Female Knight

The Return of the Female Knight
CHAPTER 9

"I am from the Fourth Knight Order who has served the royal family for generations."

“... Elena Blaise. “

Elena was stunned to hear him say his name. Does he know her? Hows it? Elena gave Carlisle a look of disbelief.

"Do you know me?"

He never predicted this outcome. Prince Carlisle had been on the battlefield since childhood and had never appeared in high society. There was no way he could meet her, who lived in the southern region of the capital. He was unlike his father, nobleman, or elder brother, the heir. It was more likely that a needle thrown into the sky would fall on his head.

He looked at Carlisle with bewildered eyes, pondering over the possibility of an earlier encounter between himself and the crown prince. But he doesn't know how he knows his name. Meanwhile, Carlisle's shocked expression brightened and was replaced by his mysterious and stoic face.

"How do you know I'm in danger? And since when are you good at sword fighting? ”

Hearing Carlisle's sudden question, Elena calmed her confused head and began to organize the response she had prepared. He couldn't give her the truth, but he still had to give her a reasonable answer. If he told her that he knew she would be killed here because she was from the future, he would think of her as a mad woman.

"In my family .. I shouldn't have learned about swords. So I went out alone and happened to find the crown prince in danger and help him. "

“So it was a coincidence? All this?"

He could tell by looking into Carlisle's eyes that he didn't believe her. Of course he doesn't want to. There are many holes in his claim. Everybody lies. But he carefully planned out the reason, and on top of that he was the one who saved his life – he couldn't be suspicious of her even if there were doubts. If he had bad intentions, he would never risk his life to save her. Elena's actions spoke of more than just a trustworthy explanation. But still…

Carlisle nodded first before he could put out his prepared words.

"Alright .. if that's what you're saying."

"What?"

He didn't even want to listen to her a moment ago, and her sudden cooperation caught him off guard. Carlisle continued to speak in a soft voice, while Elena looked on with a puzzled expression.

"I believe you."

Whahuh? Why would he trust her? Elena could barely hold back the question pleading out of her mouth. This is a good result no matter what and he will not spoil the atmosphere with unnecessary questions. The situation would only become more complicated if Carlisle decided to change his mind. Elena silently observed the man in front of her, while Carlisle seemed to be in an even more curious mood.

"Why did you suddenly propose to me?"

She said she would not marry, but now she acted as if that was not the case.

"You didn't talk like this a while ago."

"Now it's different."

"How's it?"

"Because you're Elena Blaise."

"What?"

That was a totally unexpected answer.

"You didn't answer my question so let me ask you again. Do you know me, Your Majesty? ”

"Didn't you know me?"

His eyes were strangely shining. He had never seen the crown prince in his life. He was sure his memory was not so bad that he could forget a handsome face.

"As soon as I saw you from afar for the first time today, I knew you were the crown prince."

"I didn't ask that."

"Have we met before?"

"If it's not in your memory, then the meeting doesn't exist,"

he replied faintly, which only added to his confusion. Elena stopped to think for a moment as Carlisle spoke again.

“Now it's time for you to answer my question. Why did you propose to me? "

"Oh, that's because …"

Whatever the circumstances, the fact that Elena wanted to marry Carlisle did not change. Elena continued in a calm voice.

“The Blaise family is a noble family. As a member of that family, I want the crown prince to succeed as emperor. I'd be honored if I could add a little more of my strength to you. "

That's a cliche sentence. She sounded like a noblewoman with the ambition to marry upwards. It seemed like she wanted to make her husband emperor and become the supreme woman in the empire.

"You want me to be emperor?"

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"Your family's royalty?"

"…Yes, that's it."

There was no change to Carlisle's expression, but Elena could sense that she was unsure of something. He swallowed. She wanted to kneel down and hold the leg of her pants and ask him to marry her. He's desperate.

To face King Paveluc, he had to be placed in a strong position by Prince Carlisle's side. He understands palace politics more than anyone, and he can come and go as part of the royal family. If he did not support her, how could he save her from danger at any moment? Prince Carlisle should have died here. It is unclear how his survival will change the future.

What if he refuses? He planned out countless responses in his head depending on the answer. His brain felt like it could explode. Carlisle's lips, which were tightly closed, finally opened.

"… I didn't expect you to propose to me."

“I was sincere when I said that I wanted to be your strength. Even if you don't want to get married, I promise to stay by your side– ”

"Who said I didn't want to?"

"What?"

"I like that idea."

"W-what, you agree?"

She looked at him hesitantly as she opened her lips again. He was a blue-eyed demon with a piercing expression.

"I accepted your marriage proposal."

There was a sharp breath from Elena. It also seems that it was not a bad offer for Prince Carlisle. Legally the crown prince was allowed to marry a woman from a family no less than his rank, which was a close call for him. It wasn't easy to marry into a higher-ranking family, but if one had to find a skilled bride with a sword like Elena wasn't a terrible choice. Elena's heart skipped a beat as she received the answer she wanted.

"Let me ask you this. You know about the prophecy about my first bride. Are you sorry about your decision? And you know .. I can be a monster. "

“Think carefully before you answer any questions. This might be your last chance to escape. ”

Seeing Carlisle's lonely expression, Elena felt that it was not yet time to dig up the secret about her. No need to rush. He will spend a little more time then unravel the mystery of the man.

"I don't care if you're a monster."

"Why? Do you really want to be an empress? "

"Yes. If you can become emperor, I can do more than an empress can. ”

Carlisle's facial expression changed subtly, as if the answer was unexpected.

"For example?"

"If you think that an empress is a position that I don't deserve …"

"I don't think so."

"What?"

“Don't forget this. You're the one who came to me. ”

Elena felt strange when she heard Carlisle's reply. He looked at her as if he was looking at a prey, as if the chance of escaping had already disappeared. Silence hung in the air as they faced each other.

Suddenly, he could hear the sound of horse hooves gradually getting closer. Someone came here. Elena quickly pushed herself off the ground, preparing herself for the assassins who might follow them. Then we heard crying.

"Your majesty! Crown Prince!"

"Where are you?"

He could see flags flying in the distance from the direction of the search sound. It was a beautiful flag with a golden border and in the middle was a black dragon biting its teeth. It was the symbol of the crown prince's guard. Carlisle frowned at his people who had just appeared.

"…Slow."

"Your Majesty, there may still be a killer mixed up with them,"

he said full of warning.

“No problem now. My people are here. "

"But-"

"Because of our first meeting, you thought I was a weakling."

Elena grimaced at her accusations. He's not wrong. He was very worried about his safety now he could not believe anything. Carlisle casually picked up Elena's helmet despite the injury.

“The man you chose to marry is not a weak man. Don't worry about anything and go. If you don't disappear now, you'll be arrested. “

"Your highness…"

“Try to hide your sword fighting skills as much as possible. It'll be safer. “

"…I understand."

Elena agreed with his assessment. He could easily become a target if his abilities were known. Better to act in the dark.

Even though he had to leave, he still felt uncomfortable leaving Carlisle. Carlisle then held the reins of the horse and pressed it into his hands as if in a hurry.

"I'll be visiting you in ten days."

"Please .. be careful, Your Majesty."

Elena forced herself to ride a horse, then looked at Carlisle one last time. He stood still while his blue eyes looked at him. He finally clamped the reins of his horse and rushed away, leaving him with a warning.

"Beware of the Duke of Lunen."

Paveluc was a traitorous king who conquered the throne in the future, but now he was the grand duke of the duke of Lunen.

Carlisle looked at the figure of Elena retreating on his horse, then muttered in a questioning voice.

“Beware of my uncle? What matters to me now is not him … "

However, the person who could answer the question was already gone. Carlisle stood motionless, until he was completely invisible.

In a beautiful castle.

A white-skinned dove skilfully flew into a corner of the room carrying a dazzling collection of treasures from all over the world. A female servant carefully retrieved the letter from the bird.

In the center of the room was a lavishly decorated sofa, and the one sitting on it was a middle-aged woman, a graceful woman from head to toe. The woman wordlessly received the letter and slowly read the short passage. Suddenly, he squeezed the paper in his fist.

"… Failure!"

Her displeased voice caused the female servant to look up.

"Is there something going on?"

"It's nothing, come back."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

The woman was Ophelia, the wife of the current emperor Sullivan and the 12th empress of the Ruford Empire.

She's Carlisle's stepmother, too.

Ophelia watched the maid disappear, then placed the end of the letter in a candlelight flame nearby. The words on the letter gradually began to darken and burn.

Failed to kill Crown Prince Carlisle.

"Prince Carlisle, you'll find it better to die there."
