The Return of the Female Knight

The Return of the Female Knight
CHAPTER 3:

After meeting her brother, Elena went to the armory where swords, bows, arrows, armor and all kinds of weapons were stored. Ordinary people were forbidden to enter, but fortunately there was no place in Blaise Castle where he could not go. Nevertheless, he dodged everyone's eyes, and passed the neatly displayed weapon and headed towards the deepest part of the room. He passed through a dark and narrow corner before arriving at the jet-black armor that stood in high majesty.

Elena knew how special the armor was. It was used by her mother when Elena was a child. The metal used to make the armor was so expensive and so pure that even the official knights could not afford it. Only until she became a sword lady did she realize her worth, but it had been taken before she could wear it.

As he gently placed down the armour, his eyes were wet with emotion. The cold and solid touch under his palm awakened his memory. As a child he considered the armor to be his, but after his mother died, his father opposed the woman who learned to fight the sword. For this reason he had never studied swordsmanship despite being born into a family of knights. In the end, he had to learn it as well. Maybe it's destiny. After recalling the past, he immediately began to place the armor into his large sack.

"I know that Dad misses Mom and can't bear to use her precious things, but I'll use them to save her."

Moreover, his body was physically less fit than in his previous life and he needed good armor to protect him.

After finally placing the black helmet in the sack, he chose the unused sword. It was the first one he held since returning to the past, but for him it was only yesterday. Her soft, unfeeling hands awkwardly gripped a firm grip, but her mind felt a perfect strange understanding. He was lucky his training never left him.

Elena unsheathed the sword from its sheath and saw her face reflected on the sharp blade. The woman's face was much different from the short sword lady of the past, but the determination in her heart burned even fiercer than before. Elena brandished the sword into the air several times and muttered to herself.

"… I'm only half good."

His speed and strength were limited in this untrained body. However, he had swung the sword thousands or tens of thousands of times, and the battles in which he had risked his life were countless. No matter how weak and slow he was, he knew exactly where to swing his sword. There were more times where he fought in dire circumstances than in a favorable situation, and he became resourceful in a bad situation.

In one battle, their supply units had been annihilated and they starved for three days and three nights, while the others fought paralyzed and could barely move. They hold out every moment. After enduring like this for so many years, even his untrained body had not diminished in ability. He concluded that while his strength was significantly lowered, he could overcome it to some extent with experience and instinct.

Elena finally sheathed the sword and placed it in her sack, tying it with a knot that could not be opened easily. He suddenly realized that carrying his own large sack could attract attention. It wasn't easy to let go of the mentality of being a hardened assassin who did everything himself, but now he couldn't forget he was part of the aristocracy. After leaving the armory and putting as far distance away from her as possible, Elena called out to a passing servant. The waiter approached her and Elena pointed to the large sack.

"Bring this into my car."

"What are these big things, ma'am?"

"This is a gift to Glenn when we arrive."

"That much? When Glenn sees all this, he'll be happy to see you. "

Although the size and weight of the sack was a bit unusual to be a gift for a noblewoman, the maid did not think too much about it and did as Elena ordered. Other luggage, such as dresses and other items, are already guarded by other servants. When Elena confirmed that everything needed had been loaded, she boarded the train.

"Huh huh. Just a minute."

Mirabelle held onto her skirt with one hand as she ran towards the carriage while with the other she held a large picnic basket. Elena paused for a moment when she saw Mirabelle rushing towards her, then came down and rushed towards her.

“Mirabelle, be careful. You'll get hurt. "

But Mirabelle didn't slow down until she was right in front of Elena. He inhaled a deep breath of air and gave a bright smile to his sister.

"I don't want you to go without eating, so please take this."

Mirabelle gave him the basket and when Elena picked it up, confusion flashed across her face. The burden was too heavy for him to even contemplate.

"Have you forgotten the person who told me that eating well every day would make me healthier?"

Elena became silent for a moment. That's what he used to say to Mirabelle, who always had a grudge about eating.

Mirabelle realized that she was lifting her little sister up, so she quickly pushed Elena into the carriage and spoke in a cheerful voice.

"Go and come back quickly. And don't forget my gift. "

After being pushed inside, Elena sadly stared towards the window at her sister.

"…I'll be back."

"Yes. Careful, brother. ”

The big wagon departed and Mirabelle waved her hand. Elena lifted her head out the window until and watched until her brother disappeared from view. She almost wanted to cry when she promised to come back. He couldn't believe he had a place to go back.

Elena suddenly recalled the basket on her lap. He placed it on the chair next to him and took out the food one by one. Inside there is a generous salad with fresh lettuce and chicken breast, a ham sandwich, boiled eggs, a sweetly decorated rice ball, and finely chopped fruits. They all look delicious to eat. Mirabelle's lunchbox seems to be an endless feast of all Elena's favorite foods.

"…"

He spread the food neatly on the carriage, but he could not bear to eat it. Sophie, the waiter sitting in front beside the driver of the carriage, looked at him through the window anxiously.

"Miss, are you okay?"

Elena held her face in her hands and appeared like she was crying.

"…no problem. I'm just – I'm a happier person than I thought .. ”

He always longed for these moments when his family was still alive in his previous life. His father, his brother. Mirabelle. How he wished hundreds and thousands of times for them to live there. Now he was happier than his imagination had imagined.

"… How can I eat all this food?"

Sophie replied, not understanding how valuable the food was to Elena.

"If you like, we can wrap it up again later."

Elena nodded, rubbing her wet eyes with her palms.

"Yes .. That will work."

His whole family is alive. For that long, his happiness will last forever. Now Elena's gone so she'll never lose it again. He will change the future at all costs.
