The Return of the Female Knight

The Return of the Female Knight
CHAPTER 20

Helen could not speak at the sudden focus of attention.

At that moment Marissa's hardened face appeared in his view. Helen could not forget that this tea party was hosted by one of the most powerful women in southern society. He wouldn't be the one to ruin this.

While Sarah and Margaret are plagued by unexpected developments, Helen quickly notices the situation. She did not understand why Elena would drop her teacup, but Helen quickly made a new plan.

He'll bury Blaise's sisters here. Mirabelle dared to mock him. The humiliation he received today was too much for him to back off now, right after he added salt as a trick.

Hearing the sound of the tea cup breaking, the party went silent, but now the murmuring sounds began to fill the air. Everyone's attention was on Marissa, who approached them to see what was happening.

He arrived right behind Elena and was about to ask what happened when–

"… Heugg."

Suddenly Helen shed tears.

Sarah and Margaret looked most embarrassed to see him cry. Marissa's face was set when she saw Elena, Mirabelle, Sarah and Margaret gathered at the table. It was no small matter that Helen, a noblewoman, cried at her meeting.

"What's going on here?"

Helen was the first to answer in a clenched voice.

"Lady Lawrence spilled a cup by mistake, and I just asked Blaises to have tea together as an apology."

Helen's eyes were wet with tears as she covered her mouth with both hands. Marissa gave Helen a handkerchief to calm her down.

"Oh, dry your tears, young lady."

"Then Lady Blaise knocked the cup to the floor and it broke .. I-I was so embarrassed and hurt …"

Helen receives the handkerchief Marissa offers and wipes away her tears. Then she pretended to hold back her sobs and spoke again.

"Mrs Blaise, did I do something wrong?"

He gripped a handkerchief to his heart. The crowd of inquisitive people turned to Elena and Mirabelle. Marissa stared intently at Elena, looking even colder than before.

"Lady Blaise, is this true?"

Sarah and Margaret's anxious expressions turned to relief as the situation turned in a favorable direction. Only Mirabelle's face was anxious by the sudden change in mood.

"Um, sister …."

Hearing Mirabelle's trembling voice, Elena held her sister's small hand. Then Elena looked straight at Sarah, Margaret, and Helen in front of her.

The reason why he did not immediately recall this incident was because he was still relatively young here. In a future where he had a hard time after his family was killed, the memory of being tricked into drinking salty tea was trivial. When Elena worked as a mercenary, she was always at risk of poisoning and even nearly died from it. Drinking this cup of salted tea was nothing to Elena. If he drank this alone, he would laugh at him. But…

Not with Mirabelle. She could never forgive Helen tricking her younger sister into drinking it. If she could hold her sword here, Elena would defeat them with her strength without hesitation.

Then he would cut off at least one arm just to teach them a lesson.

However, this was a high society, and Elena's sword skills did not help. In this situation he felt more comfortable with strategizing and competing fairly with his skills.

"What Lady Selby said isn't right, ma'am."

Hearing Elena's calm reply, Marissa opened her mouth curiously, but Helen cut in before she could say a word.

"Not right? So I'm a liar? "

"It's true we'll have tea together, but that's not the tea we're receiving."

Marissa, who was listening to the two women, could not help herself.

“What does the name of heaven mean? Not tea? "

Helen's face hardened in an instant. So it was true that Elena had been paying attention to her plan ever since they spilled the teacup. But how did he know? She could not understand how Elena knew the tea was salty without drinking it. No matter how hard Helen thought about it, she could not understand how she was captured.

"He suspected something was wrong, so he stopped his sister from drinking it."

He wanted Elena to be embarrassed in front of everyone before he could prove his claim. However, if Elena already knew her plan, Helen was ready with another solution.

"It's the only way .. yeah."

As people began to listen to Elena speak, Helen took a step back with an angry face. The proof is in a teapot containing salted tea. If Helen pretended to accidentally spill a teapot onto the floor, Elena would not be able to reveal the truth no matter how much she protested.

People like to gossip. Once bad rumors about Blaises spread, it would be hard to stop, regardless of whether it was true or not. Such was the game in high society, and Helen had the confidence to play smarter than anyone else.

Moreover, the hearts of the people were weak when they saw a woman crying. Helen was the first to shed tears, and she knew she still received more sympathetic attention than Elena.

Helen took a step forward with a firm face, then pretended to stumble and fall to the table. And unlike Margaret's awkward efforts, Helen grabbed the tablecloth easily.

The teapot on the table shook and almost fell to the ground.

Dululu–

Taag!

In a gust of wind, a chair slips on the ground and the backrest blocks the teapot from falling to the ground. The teapot is balanced and stops at the end of the table.

Helen's eyes widened at the dramatic action. His gaze slowly moved towards the direction where the chair was flying.

There stood Elena with an expressionless face. Those far away did not see what was happening, but Mirabelle, Marissa, and Sarah and Margaret saw it clearly with their own eyes. With a cat's reflex, Elena grabbed the chair next to her and pushed it towards Helen. Elena couldn't possibly have that kind of agility without professional training.

But that wasn't the only surprise. Before anyone could say a word, Helen raised her hand and instantly dropped the balanced teapot. Just before touching the ground, Elena flew out like a flash of lightning and her hand shot out to grab the tea pot in the air.

"I – me …!"

Helen could not speak, trembling with anger. Elena calmly poured a cup of tea filled with salted tea, her movements as graceful as water.

“This is from the pot given to me and my sister. If there is nothing in it, do you want to drink it yourself? ”
