Elena and Carlisle finished eating, then left the restaurant. He felt a chill on his skin as he stepped from the warm building into the cold night, and took a deep breath and enjoyed the fresh air. Unlike when they first arrived here, Carlisle's people were nowhere to be seen. However, he could still sense it with his sharp senses.
"…Please."
Carlisle opened the carriage door and helped Elena enter as usual. He became very silent after Elena threw a fork at the arrow board. There was an indecipherable expression on his face, as if the chaos of his mind made him unable to speak.
However, Elena pretended not to know how Carlisle was feeling. He is a protector, not one to be protected. Regardless of his feelings, it did not change the meaning of the word. If there was an arrow flying towards her at this moment, Elena would throw herself in front of her without hesitation. There will be absolutely no confusion about it.
Elena silently stepped into the carriage.
Hying–
A horse neighed with heat in the air. His heart was eager to ride on a horse on a cold night like this, not sitting in a stuffy carriage. However, she had dedicated herself to the role of a noblewoman and had to suppress her desires.
Elena glanced at the horse with longing eyes and then rolled her eyes back to the carriage.
NAH!
Carlisle closed the carriage door without saying anything, then walked away from Elena.
"What…?"
He would ask about his mysterious behavior when he replied with an indifferent gaze.
"Do you want to go up?"
"Oh, I thought about it for a while, but …"
"Then say so. You speak well, but sometimes you express yourself strangely. "
"…"
"Just tell me what you want to do, not what you have to do."
It was a shocking statement for Elena, who herself had a strong sense of responsibility. What he wanted the most was to save his family, even if it meant abstaining from the others.
"I'm doing fine. No matter how late, I can't be seen in the open with you. ”
Their identities were hidden while they were in the carriage, but in the open on the horse was different. Carlisle and Elena could not ascend together to the mansion this way.
Carlisle ignored him and barked the order into the empty air.
"Bring my horse."
Then, amazingly, someone emerged from the forest, holding the reins to a huge dark horse, bigger than an ordinary horse. Elena knows it's a good horse.
Carlisle rode the horse easily then reached out to Elena.
Elena hesitated. He was very much against doing anything unnecessary.
Carlisle felt his uncertainty.
"My arm hurts, quick."
Carlisle straddled a large horse is not a fairytale picture of a prince on a white horse. But he has a much more dangerous allure. Her thin, slanted eyes pierced Elena, and her pitch-black hair and high nose reflected the moonlight.
His head had yet to decide what to do with his proposal. Yet despite the complicated thoughts that darted through his mind …
He took his offered hand. While he believed in the man's promise that they would not be seen, it was also true that he wanted to ride a horse again. There was no reason to refuse Carlisle's offer to do what he wanted. However, he did not want the burden for anything.
Carlisle, however, did not have such thoughts at all, and smiled faintly as soon as Elena's hand was in his.
Hwiig–
Carlisle pulled her, and Elena sat in front of him. The long skirt of her dress makes sitting a little uncomfortable, but she loves the wide-open view that can only be seen from atop a horse.
Tadak, tadak.
The horse began to move forward. Suddenly he felt something warm on his shoulder, and when he turned his head, he saw that Carlisle had taken off his coat jacket and placed it around him.
"I'm doing fine. No cold– ”
“Stay cover yourself. Just in case someone sees you. "
The coat certainly did not cover her face, but it was a little better than exposing her full dress. He had already started resisting, but found out that he had a point.
"Yes, then .. thank you."
Carlisle seemed to have anticipated the answer. He spoke after he confirmed that Elena was wearing a warm coat.
"Let's run."
Carlisle flicked the bridle, and the horse began to gallop at a faster pace. Elena smiled as a cold wind blew past her cheeks and ears.
"Are you not afraid?"
"Not everything. I want to go faster. "
"As you command."
He urged the horse to go faster and faster. The freshness of the air seemed to cleanse his body. He feels more alive than ever. He had no idea how long it had been since the last time he glided freely through the dark forest path.
Carlisle could not see Elena's reddened face, but could hear the small breath of happiness he was unaware of. Elena enjoyed the cool breeze like she did when she was a knight.
