The Return of the Female Knight

The Return of the Female Knight
Chapter 2: I will change the future 1

After Elena made up her mind, she began to feel anxious. The time when Prince Carlisle was about to be killed overlaps with the present. Although the exact time when he was killed is unknown, he was lucky to remember the location because the murder was the most talked about event before the uprising.

There is no time to spend. It would be disastrous if he missed this opportunity to save Carlisle's life. Blaise Castle is located south of the capital, and it takes a few days to get from here to there. He should hurry as soon as possible.

"Our brother Derek's training right now, isn't he?"

“Yes, always the same. If he did not hold the sword even for a day, he would probably get a rash. "

Mirabelle stuck out her tongue sweetly and Elena looked at him lovingly. Elena misses her sister a lot. He desperately wanted to continue looking at her, but now he was in a hurry. She stroked Mirabelle's soft hair and spoke to her sadly.

"Mirabelle, I have to go somewhere for a while."

"Huh? Where are you going?"

"It's gonna be a few days."

"Through that? I'm coming with you! "

Mirabelle gripped onto Elena's nightgown. Perhaps it was because Mirabelle did not remember their mother, who had died early, but the young girl had always hated being away from her older sister ever since she was a child. Elena did not hate Mirabelle for following her like a mother, and they only had a few memories separated until their family was destroyed in their previous life.

Decades of life without Mirabelle are lonely. Elena wanted to pamper her sister and listen to everything she said, but this was not the time.

"I have to go alone …"

He quickly turned his face away. He had to leave for at least a few days to save Prince Carlisle, but he could not disappear for no reason. This was not life when no one stopped him as a swordsman, no matter what he did. She was the Count's daughter who had to tell everyone her every move.

A memory flashed through Elena's head and gave her an idea.

"I have to go see Glenn, and you can't travel that far with me."

"Glenn's?"

"Yes. I heard from him in a letter some time ago, but I thought I should go there myself. ”

Glenn was a baroness who lived on the estate and away from the Blaise family. She loves Elena and Mirabelle and, although not a frequent visitor, will make sure to visit Blaise Castle whenever she visits the south. Elena remembered that Glenn was very nervous about preparing for his wedding. In Elena's previous life, she had only attended the wedding day to congratulate her, but now she had to leave Blaise Castle for whatever reason. Glenn, who had been a good acquaintance since childhood, would make a good excuse.

Elena glanced at Mirabelle's face worriedly, wondering if her memory might be wrong. Fortunately, Mirabelle spoke with a calm gaze as if she already knew about Glenn.

“Do you still have to go there alone? If you are worried, you should send someone else .. You can't travel that far just to see if anything happens. After all, this house is nothing without my sister. ”

“In some ways, marriage is the most important thing in a woman's life. I need to visit it myself. "

"But…"

“Glenn has a lot of hair and he worries about taking care of it every day. If I go there personally it will help him a lot. "

"… Oh."

Mirabelle pouted in disapproval, and Elena sighed. If the future did not depend on saving Prince Carlisle, he would never leave his brother's side for a long time.

"My sister is too good for her own good."

Elena smiled faintly at that. He doesn't care if the world is stained with blood for the sake of his family, so the word "good" is far from appropriate. It was impossible to estimate how much blood her hands would have to shed to save Crown Prince Carlisle, but Elena simply smiled innocently.

"I'll bring you a present when I get back."

"Very? I'll look forward to it. "

"Yes. I'll pick something you like, so be patient. "

"Yay!"

As if she had completely forgotten her opposition to Elena leaving, Mirabelle smiled as bright as a flower that was about to bloom. Yeah, Elena doesn't mind being a hellish demon to protect this smile.

"Then you have to wait at home quietly. When Dad came back, I told him I was going to help Glenn's wedding. "

"good. You should return as soon as possible, sister. ”

"I promise. I just need to say goodbye to Derek and then I'll be gone soon. "

"Have you?"

"The sooner I leave the sooner I can get back."

Mirabelle's expression turned grim, but then her face immediately shone with an idea.

"You don't have to–"

"While it's talking to Derek!"

Mirabelle left as quickly as possible, and Elena smiled sadly watching her leave. Mirabelle was a weak child who could never walk properly, and despite being seventeen years old, she was small and thin for a child her age and looked only fourteen. Elena was worried to see him running slowly, but was moved by his efforts. When he saw this little bit of kindness, he couldn't help but realize that he had actually returned.

After a moment of gratitude, Elena quickly regained her senses and sat down at her desk. She planned to leave the house under the pretext of helping Glenn's marriage, but Elena wasn't sure if she could actually visit him. He planned to send Glenn to the master beautician just in case, and planned to inform him in advance so that he could avoid a difficult situation later. Elena wrote to Glenn about going to help with the wedding, then another letter to the capital's most famous hair salon. The two letters were instantly sent, each carrying the seal of Count Blaise.

"Yeah!"

A strong smell of sweat and heavy breathing sounds came from within the training hall. Unlike the large area where the knights trained as a group, Derek, his elder brother and the next heir to the Count, preferred this quiet and comfortable place. He was engrossed in practicing his form and was unaware of Elena's approach. He watched her silently without saying anything for a moment.

"…Remember me."

For a long time when he had to survive alone, he held a grudge against Derek in the corner of his heart. Not only did he forcibly prevent her from trying to save Mirabelle, but …

He died to save her.

Elena had been dragged out of the castle, leaving Mirabelle in danger, and Elena was so confused that she could not tell if it was a dream or reality. The cries of the servants filled the air, and the smell of blood stung his nose. There were the footsteps of the knights and the sound of shouting.

Until then, Elena was just an ordinary princess of a noble and found herself helpless against this nightmare. Derek finally raised his hand and slapped him. His head jerked to the side with a loud punch. His cheeks, which had never been hit before, quickly turned red, but his eyes widened into consciousness. Derek spoke seriously, holding his face right in both hands and looking straight into his eyes.

– Elena, I can buy you some time so you can escape. Don't look back and go to Arden. Our family safe house is there, so you have to hide until you know what happened.

He didn't fully understand what Derek was saying, but he nodded towards his frightening eyes. There was an approaching sound and Derek drew his sword. He turned towards her and spoke again.

– Go. Go and congratulations, brother.

That was the last time he saw her. She watched her brother's back get further away, then she turned around and started running in the opposite direction. He didn't do it to live. She was too scared and just followed her brother's orders. Through the mist of her fear, she doesn't realize until her dress is torn and her bare legs are covered in blood that Derek, her beloved brother, sacrificed himself for. He continued to run through the pitch-black forest even though he could not see anything. That dark night was the most terrifying night in Elena's memory.

Only then did he identify the messy bodies of his father and brother hanging on the wall like a spectacle for everyone to see. When he saw them, he felt his blood coming out of his body. Even a scream came out of his mouth. There was only heaven and earth that collapsed on him. He wanted to follow his family, but he was so angry and bitter that he could not even kill himself. His brother wants him to survive.

Survival is hell. It was so hard and stifling to bring the death of his family with him and he became annoyed at his brother for saving him and sacrificing his life. In fact, Derek was always scary and difficult to deal with, and grew up as the heir to the same Count as his father. She rarely said thank you or regret during Elena's childhood. He wondered if all the knights were like this.

And in the end, he sacrificed himself without the death of a special hero. Elena could not express her gratitude and hatred towards him, and what she wanted to say to him was built on a mountain of words in her heart. Funnily enough, he didn't realize how much he loved her until she died. He blamed her for leaving him alone …

She missed him as bitterly as she was angry at him.

"How long have you been there?"

Derek too late noticed Elena's presence and interrupted his thoughts in a low voice. He had to clear his throat before answering.

"A few minutes ago."

"What's that?"

Elena's heart warmed to her straightforward style of speech, unlike in the past when she found it difficult to communicate with him.

“I'll be gone for a few days to help Glenn prepare for his wedding. I just stopped by to say goodbye to my sister. ”

"Yes. Careful."

Derek's face was not interested and he started to clean his sword. Elena turned around, took a few steps, then stopped and looked at him again. He looked at Derek who was now and who from his previous life overlapped in his eyes.

"Brother."

"…?"

She looked at Elena in surprise, as if the conversation was over for her. Then, under the bright sunlight, Elena was seen with wavy blonde hair and red eyes that shone like jewels.

"… I really want to say thank you."

"What?"

Derek asked in astonishment, but Elena simply continued on the journey with a mysterious expression on her face. He tilted his head. Elena looked different from yesterday. She was his precious sister, but they were not very close. As he looked at the growing distance between them, he muttered in a worried voice,

"By the way, he might not take enough guards."
