38. New mission

After a while Leonardo, Lily, and Razor finally arrived at their destination, the kingdom of Noa. There are very crowded with residents. Old brown buildings that stand firm. Housing is lined up with each other. Merchants were selling things to each other, even some residents were riding horses just to travel, and at the very center of this crowd, at a great distance there was a huge black palace. Everything here was protected by a white, circular border wall, that wall was huge. It was almost impossible to be broken through by someone.

"Huh, to be honest I'm lazy to this place." Razor sighed and started walking.

Lily and Leonardo follow Razor from behind without starting a conversation, passing various alley stalls and housing. After a while they finally reached the palace, where Gray was the one who called them.

Without further ado the three of them entered the black palace, walked through the large staircase to the Gray room and had a little chat.

As they were walking Leonardo unintentionally stared at the photo that caught his attention. It was the same photo he had seen when he first came here.

Photos, not rather than say these photos are more like paintings. The painting features a blonde woman in a red dress sitting on a chair and smiling.

Leonardo walked up and stared at the painting, after traveling to the city of OZ he finally knew who the identity of the photograph was. Yes, she is his mother. He felt the painting.

"Why is my mother's painting here?"

The two people walking with him looked confused and looked at each other for a few seconds, then walked up to Leonardo.

"He's your mother?" ask Lily to approach Leonardo.

Leonardo nodded his head in response yes.

"I'm not really sure. But it's no mistake my mother has blonde hair, at least that's what I see in my memory."

"Senior, as long as you know it's a painting you brought here."

Leonardo opened his eyes wide, he certainly does not remember the event. So Leo could only answer, so,

"So yes."

"From thinking about this it's better let's get to Gray's room."

Leonardo turned his back and walked away from the painting. He felt claustrophobic if he remembered the fire because he decided not to look at his mother's painting. The footsteps were followed by Lily and Razor.

Moments later the three of them finally reached the room belonging to Gray, as usual he used a pretty strange fashion, he used a purple shirt and used a white coat with long sleeves to cover both arms. Gray is currently enjoying a warm tea.

"Your guys are finally coming."

Gray welcomed their arrival, he placed a cup of tea on his desk.

"So, why are you calling us?" ask Razor.

"It's about the OZ town you visited yesterday."

Lily, Leonardo, and Razor are back in memory of their defeat just a few days ago. They all lowered their heads and bit their lips.

They can't forget Monika's death.

"I know, we all lost. Edward's running away!" Razor looked angry, she raised her tone.

"No, it can't be said to be a defeat.."

Gray stopped talking, he went back to drinking his tea quietly and then finished it.

"Edward did run away, but thanks to that the citizens of OZ can return to normal. They won't live in Edward's arms."

"You could say this is our victory."

While smiling Gray said that. Did he try to comfort them? Or did he just say what he said?

But hearing that they won didn't make the three people happy. They even become insinuated.

Especially Lily, she looked insinuated and angry. Lily walked up to Gray, hit the table in front and looked at Gray sharply.

"Win? We can't even save one innocent girl! How can you call that a victory?"

"That's right! We failed to save a little girl and you said it was a victory? What's in your head?!"

This time Razor looked wrathful, she had her hands in the air.

Receiving the words from his subordinate Gray was not angry and he even smiled wryly.

"Calm down!"

"Why do you have to pay attention to one girl's life? What you did yesterday almost caused a civil war, but fortunately the revolutionaries didn't fight. If only for the sake of peace instead of the life of one girl is a cheap thing?"

The voice was calm, but firm and a little scary. That was the aura Gray possessed. Razor and Lily wanted to deny what he said, but Gray now looked scary, he did smile, but the smile did not look friendly.

"What you said may be true.."

Amidst this calmness Leo ventured, no. The sentence braved less precise, Leonardo himself did not look afraid at all.

Lily stared intently at Leonardo, she could not believe what Leonardo was saying. So too with Razor.

While Gray smiled, "As per your guesses too"

"But if we can protect Monika why should we sacrifice her?"

Gray's smile faded away, he looked solemnly at Leonardo.

"... I should have been able to save him by then. If I had only realised Edward's whereabouts, nothing like this would have happened."

While saying that Leonardo clasped his hand, he vented out emotions with a Fist.

Hearing the answer from Leonardo made Gray disappointed, he sighed. "It's very naive."

"You managed to make OZ city cheerful, so in that city for a while there will be no more rukh, so forget about that and let's get serious talk."

Gray breathed out he was about to head for a serious conversation.

"Your next mission is to go to the kingdom of Magnostadt!"

Razor somehow looked surprised. "Magnostad?"

"Yes, the kingdom of witches."

"I'm sorry, but I don't have time to follow your mission. I want to remember everything as soon as possible so I'll go.."

Leonardo was about to walk away, but stopped because of Gray's words.

"If your memory, I'm sure magnostad could also potentially appear!"

Leo turned his head. "Where do you know that?"

"Yes, at least following my directions would be better than walking without directions right?" Gray quipped.

"...."

"Do you seriously want to leave after hearing of the evil in the Kingdom?"

"Village? What do you mean."

"Magnostad is a kingdom for witches and there is a cruel criminalization for non-witches!"

"Witches do cruel things to non-magicians. They treat some people like trash! Are you sure you left after hearing this?"

Gray knew that Leonardo was a good man. So he used that kindness with his words.

And Leonardo was lured, he walked back to Gray.

"Well I'm gonna do something, but what are we gonna do?"

"The three of you go to the magic academy there. Pretend to be a student there and find out as much information as you can about the principal, Morgan." Gray explained.

Lily, Razor and Leonardo were shocked.

"" Why do we have to look for information about the principal?"" They asked simultaneously.

"That's because principal Morgan is the king there. She is a genius witch, her existence is what makes decriminalization system for non-magicians."

"I want you to dig up information about the old man and stop that rotten system which is why being a student of the academy is the best choice."

"That's your new mission."
