The One Thousand Days

The One Thousand Days
Chapter 29. Weirdly

When the young man opened his eyes, the first thing I thought of was the identity of the soul in that body. I'm sure there's Geral there, but without any certainty what I can believe. Plus Geral's strange habits that sometimes turn brutal as\ as if possessed by a wild animal at night. For that matter I have not found a clue at all until now and Alice remains reluctant to open the mouth of the woman remains adamant on the annoying secretive pretentious attitude.

“Rael?” Alex called him. While I was still glued to the spot, too afraid to stare at the newly conscious young man.

“You must be confused, there is Enza kok here!” he said Alex again.

My gaze now turned to the figure of Alex then alternately looked at Rael who was still silent in bed. A look of confusion still flashed on his face. The possible effects of anesthesia have not disappeared completely. His eyes were still empty when I approached. I want to say his name. It's just, my tongue is cuddly. Honestly, now I'm even too afraid to say anything. Afraid also that I got the wrong call and he dodged then Alex would catch my axe wet. Horrified at the thought of my lies might be exposed every second unexpectedly. She's over it all, I don't dare to imagine that last night's ritual failed and there was someone else on that body. I bit my lip and looked at Alex who was still standing stiff at the other end of the bed.

“You think something's wrong?” Alex turned to look at me, his forehead wrinkled. “He looks weird”

“Iya?” this time I am observing Rael lekat\-sticky while trying to find the oddity discussed by Alex.

“Iya, try to notice she is still her like that from earlier?”

“Perhaps the effect of the accident and anesthesia, he just woke up,” I chimed in while my eyes were not separated from the figure of Rael who had been still silent.

“Do we need to call a doctor?”

“I'll call,” bargain me.

Alex smiles. “So's not it, you're with Rael.”

I agree directly. The decision was better because I could at least be with this young man and alone. Although, I myself am not sure who woke up this time. Honestly, I still have doubts. As the door of this room moved shut, I advanced to the edge of the bed. Pulling out his drooping fingers while quietly\ hoping that he would recognize me soon.

“Gerals? You it?”

He looked at her for a moment. There was no change, his facial expression was the same. There was a confused expression there.  I'm sure he doesn't even recognize me.

“Rael?”

I really hope he doesn't respond. That way I'm sure that the one inside the body is Geral and no one else. He's still quiet. A second later, he raised his eyebrows.

Whatdoes thatmean?

“Rael, right?” I repeat, just reassuring.

He looked towards me. My heart started to beat in my chest. The temperature in my palm dropped drastically as fear began to squeeze my inner being.  Could I have failed? Did last night's ritual not succeed in summoning Geral back into the world and entering Rael's body? What am I supposed to do? Am I gonna lose Geral again when I'm not ready for it?

“Geral or Rael?”

I tiptoed when the door slammed open. Some paramedics entered the room. Alex also went behind them. He pulled me away from the crowd. Our Jemari link was missed. I followed Alex out of the room.

Damn, I haven't even had a chance to ask.

“He will be fine\-all, Za.” Alex took a slow breath as I just leaned back against the surface of the wall.

“I know.”

“At least he's conscious now.”

“Minimal she's alive.”

“Enza.”

Alex turned around, pulling my chin until we sat up. “All this is not your fault, this was an accident not you intentionally did it.”

“Stay only.”

“She lives, she breathes, she opens her eyes. So there's nothing you need to think too far about!” alex's voice went up.

“How is it?”

The doctor confirmed the location of his glasses and smiled. “Patient well\-well, he just hasn't been fully aware. Dope effect so he's still like that, not a big deal.”

I breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, he was okay. I can't be more relieved than this.

“Thank you very much, Doc.”

“Sama\-sama, Enza.”

Alex patted my shoulder, I looked up. She smiles. His eyes seemed to say I had to trust him because everything he said was true.

“No going home first?”

“Later to visit Rael.”

“Oh, alright.”

“You should also go home.”

“Tapi–”

“Mandi, eat and rest for a while. After that, you can come back here.” Alex closed my argument with a stern sentence. It's an order and alex obviously doesn't like to be denied.

“Iya,” I said finally.

We walked inside. The young man seemed to be asleep. Eyes closed. I approached him. The teeth began to run from my fingers while cold sweat now began to flood my nape. Silently\-secretly I glanced at Alex, she must not realize that now I really\-completely nervous.

“She slept.”

“Then we can go home for a while,” Alex puts a shoulder to shoulder.

“Oke.”

I pulled out the blanket and covered her body until the edge of the blanket touched her chin. Hopefully this way he will be more comfortable. That's all I can do now, little useless stuff. I wish he could sleep well, whoever's in there. Either Geral or Rael, as long as he is safe and well\-just fine that's enough for now. It was not enough to dispel my fear, but it could make the guilt that had been lingering in my mind a little torn apart.

 “Enza, come!”

“I–iya, Sister.”

I hurriedly\-rushed away, removing the end of the blanket from my finger. I gasp. My heart stopped beating for a split second. My breath was stifled.Angin seemed to blow my cheek for a moment when the window of the room was splashed open. No one touched the window. No one was even near the window. The strange sensation began to strike. Raising my hair that began to be curious.

I gasped and looked straight back when something touched my hand. The touch made me tremble. My eyes are fixed on my arms. He's grasping. This time I looked at that face. The black manic looked at me.

“Enza!” the hoarse voice was floating in the air.

My heart started beating slowly and then it was getting faster as if there was a firecracker ready to explode in a few seconds. My breath began to hunt as a feeling of tightness filled my chest. He recognized me and called my name.

“Ge–Geral, right?” I said after I swallowed.

“Geral?”

Alex's voice echoed through the room. Men's eyebrows are confused. My lips were trembling, looking for an explanation. His grip on my hand grew stronger. My hands clenched. My lies have been exposed.  Alex already knew that in Rael's body there was Geral's soul. Why am I going to be released? What am I supposed to say now?
