The One Thousand Days

The One Thousand Days
Chapters 11. Possessed

We went home from the store and had dinner outside. After that, Geral went to sleep. So did I. I thought the nightmare would never come again. However, I opened my eyes when I heard a noise from the living room. My hair bristles especially the clang of the wall clock makes the night atmosphere even more tense. I stepped out with caution\-care. Turn the door knob. Who knows if it's a thief or a robber. Though I'm not sure there's anything valuable they can steal from this place.

The voice disappeared and the atmosphere went back to silence. I sharpened my ears. No footsteps could be heard coming in. I screamed as I saw a shadow coming out. I was still glued to the spot, too shocked to run. The tall figure was getting closer.

“Geral?”

The dim,\-bright light from the full moon pierced through the window that was not covered by the curtain to make me see it clearly.

“Geral?” my voice trembled, for some reason it felt strange.

He didn't answer. His face was cold with no expression. His eyes were also dim. Then he moved closer. His hands move fast. Knows\-know Geral's fingers are already moving to my neck. I wanted to scream but my throat was closed. My legs kicked\-kick as the oxygen entering my respiratory tract began to thin. I hit her\-hit her wrist repeatedly to make her sober up. The horror spread as I looked into her empty eyes. Then a cruel smile appeared on his face.

“I'll kill you,” his cold voice sounds cruel.

I'm still thrashing. Geral's grip was still firmly pressing down on my neck. I want to scream to call his name. My lips are. My heart is beating fast. My hand hit\-hit her wrist. A low growl came out from his lips as if a wolf was now languishing in the young man's body.

“Geral..I beg you...Geral...listen to me!”

The tick\-tock sound of the clock breaks the silence. My leg's still kicking\-kicking looking for a target. My breath is short and cut off\-breakup. My eyes began to blur shut in tears.

“Ge...Ge...ral..” I tried to call him.

He was unmoved and his two dark eyeballs were now glaring sharply at me. His grip loosened and my feet found the target. I kicked his knee. Not too hard but he reacted. He tilted his head slowly. His eyes stared at the nano. I kicked him again. The end of my foot hit his leg. The pain ran through my bones. He didn't seem to be in pain at all. His grip loosened then I felt my body drift. My heart stopped and a screech stuck in my lips. My back hit the wall at an unmoved speed. I gasped and the\-yellow green spots started to form in the eye fertilizers.

I'm still trying to get up when Geral comes back. Run. That's the word that formed in my mind. I have to save myself. I stared at the nightstand near where I fell. I stretched out my hand to reach for anything that could be reached. As Geral moved back, my hand was right on the surface of the vase. I clutched the vase of flowers. Geral. I smashed that glass vase right into Geral's head. Geral fell down near my feet.

My legs are limp and my heart is still beating fast. Cold sweat ran down my back. Geral was still lying on the floor. I crawled quickly into my room and locked it.

My feet are unable to support my body. I fell down close to the door. I leaned my back against the door. Sweat stuff stung my eyes. I wiped my face with my shirt. Just barely. If I hadn't hit Geral just now.

I hit Geral's head. I looked at my trembling hands. What have I done? I did all this with my own hands.

“I...i...” My voice vibrates.

My eyes are foggy. I'm biting my lower lip. My hands keep shaking. Only my sobs that were held back rang out through the night. What am I supposed to do? How about getting hurt because of me\-for. I shuffled but didn't move an inch.

Silver bracelets twinkled in the darkness. Wait for. Alice. Right, that girl must know the answer. I need to call him. I'm standing. My legs are still too soft and limp. I grabbed the phone from the table and dialed the phone number the girl gave me a few days ago. I heard a soft tut sound.

“Thank Alice, come on!” I bit my lips.

“The number you are going to is inactive.”

I gritted my teeth and threw the phone on the bed. I want to strangle the girl right now. I chose to sit on the bed. Pull the wooden box of brooch container into the grasp. It's too silly to be armed, but I have to be ready to throw it at any moment if Geral comes back. I leaned my back against the wall. My eyes were staring at the door that did not move. I just wish I was at least goodnight.

“Enza?”

I jerked. I don't know how long time has passed but the sunlight has broken through the ledges of the window ledges. Shit, I really\-asleep.

“Enza?” geral's voice softly sounded from behind the door.

My hand gripping the wooden box in my lap was getting tighter and tighter. My heart is beating fast again. I looked towards the window, I should be ready to jump at any time. I didn't slide down to open the door. I shut up and waited. Geral's voice was no longer heard. I breathed a sigh of relief as Geral was heard walking away.

I walked out of my room. My house's empty. My eyes are looking around. Silent. I moved to Geral's room, the blanket folded neatly. The shards of the vase have disappeared. Could it be Geral who cleaned all the broken glass? Does he remember last night?

I yawned wide, drowsiness and fatigue still lingering. I need coffee. My feet go straight to the dining table. My eyes stumbled on a cup of coffee and a few slices of sandwich at the dinner table. I put my lips on the cup and then I saw a piece of post-it paper stuck to the table. My eyes grew as I read the\-circular circular writing on the yellow paper.

Enjoy breakfast. I'm out for a second.

With love, Geral

He out. I coughed softly. One second later I rubbed the coffee liquid on my lips while putting the cup carelessly. I hurriedly\hurry out. Last night's experience still shudders me. My slipper moves slipperyly on the stairs. My legs slipped slowly but I still kept running. My breath was hunting and my heart was hitting\-hit hard. I just have to catch up with him. I hope he doesn't hurt anyone else.
