The Love Story of Haifa

The Love Story of Haifa
16. Take Haifa.

After finishing breakfast Vishnu and Haifa pamit to Ibu Deswita and Mr. Broto.

“Bu, I'll go home first. Later if my mother is healed, I will come back here again,” said Haifa.

“Yes, it's okay. Take good care of your mother!” answer Mother Deswita.

Deswita's mother took out a white envelope, Deswita's mother held Haifa's right hand and placed the white envelope on Haifa's palm.

“Mother can't give souvenirs to your family. But I leave this for your mother,” said Ms. Deswita.

“No need, Ma'am, "resist Haifa.

Haifa tried to pull her hand.

“This is for your Mom. To buy your mother's medicines,” said Ibu Deswita.

“But my mother has been on medication to puskesmas,” Haifa said.

“Haifa,” call Vishnu.

Haifa turned to Vishnu.

“Accept it,” says Vishnu.

“But, Mas,” Haifa said.

“Have received it,” said Vishnu once again.

With the weight of Haifa received the envelope given by Mother Deswita. Actually Haifa did not want to be a burden on the Deswita Mother's family.

“Thank you, Mom,” Haifa said with a hearty heart.

“I say goodbye first, Bu.” Haifa kisses Mom Deswita's hand.

Then Haifa turned to Mr. Broto.

“I'll go home first, Mr.” Haifa kissed Mr. Broto's hand.

“Send my greetings to your parents,” said Mr. Broto.

“Good, Sir,” replied Haifa.

It is now Vishnu's turn to pay his parents.

“Mah, Vishnu departs first,” farewell Vishnu.

“Be careful on the road, yes!” mother Deswita's Message.

“Ya, Mah.”

Vishnu kisses the hand of Mother Deswita.

Then Vishnu turned to Mr. Broto.

“Pah, Vishnu departs first,” says Vishnu.

“Yes, be careful on the road. If you better cape stay overnight first, do not go straight to Jakarta,” Mr. Broto message.

“Iya, Pah,” replied Vishnu.

Then Vishnu kissed Mr. Broto's hand.

“Assalamualaikum,” says Vishnu and Haifa together.

“Waalaikumsalam,” reply Mr. Broto and Ms. Deswita.

Haifa and Vishnu came out of the house to Vishnu's car which was parked in front of the house. Mr. Tono was waiting beside the car.

Before getting into the car Haifa pampit first to Bi Nani who stood together with Mang Diman in front of the garage.

“Bi, Haifa go home first.” Haifa kissed Bi Nani's hand.

“Salam samama Mamahmu. Sorry Aunty can't yet see,” said Bi Nani.

“Iya, Bi," Haifa replied.

“Mang, Haifa go home first.” Haifa kissed Mang Diman's hand.

“Iya,” said Mang Diman while patting Haifa on the shoulder.

Vishnu's turn paved to Mang Diman and Bi Nani.

“Mang Diman, Bi Nani I go first,” Vishnu said.

“Titip Haifa, yes Den,” says Bi Nani.

“Ya, Bi,” replied Vishnu.

“Assalamuaikum,” says Haifa and Vishnu.

“Waalaikumsalam,” reply Bi Nani and Mang Diman.

Vishnu and Haifa got into the car, they were both sitting on the passenger bench. While Mr. Tono is driving his car.

The streets in the city that morning were still not jammed, because they left early at half-seven, but when the car entered the outer ring road toll began to be crowded. Today is a working day so many people leave for work using the outer ring toll. The car runs by crawling. When exiting the toll Cikunir congestion starts to split and the car can run smoothly. After passing through the Kerawang the streets began to empty, because they had passed through the industrial area.

“Pak, where are we going? Purbalenyi or Duchy?” ask Mr. Tono.

Vishnu turned to Haifa.

“Where are we going?” ask Vishnu to Haifa.

“Yesterday Mang Diman through Duchy,” Haifa replied.

“Pak, via Duchy,” says Vishnu.

“Good, Sir.” Mr. Tono took the right lane so as not to be blocked by the vehicle that will turn left which will go to Purbaleunyi.

(Author chose through the Duchy because the author had never passed through the Cadas Pangeran tunnel. The last author to Sumedang Cadas Pangerang tunnel is still made.)

The toll road leading to the Duchy was quiet enough that Pak Tono drove his car at high speed until they finally exited at the Duchy toll gate. The road from the Duchy to Sumedang was quite empty, only when they entered Nyalindungi did they encounter many sand-carrying trucks and stone-carrying trucks. Haifa closed her eyes because Mr. Tono had to get ahead of the truck in an uphill state with a winding road. Fortunately, Mr. Tono who drives a car, if Vishnu who drives a car, Haifa may be stressed because Vishnu must face heavy terrain.

After going through the obstacles that triggered enough adrenaline finally they reached Cimalaka. The streets of Cimalaka were already somewhat flat but densely creeping. Until finally they entered Sumedang district the road began smoothly.

Mr. Tono directed the car to the middle of Sumedang city. Before the Pajaji dispensary, Mr. Tono turned his car to the left. (Hayo the Sumedang who remembers the Pajaji dispensary? Legendary dispensaries in Sumedang) Three hundred meters later they finally arrived at Haifa's house.

“Pak, parking here only.”  Haifa pointed to the vacant land that was two houses away from her house.

“Then Mr. Wisnu and Non Haifa went down first, I parked the car,” said Mr. Tono.

Haifa and Vishnu got out of the car and took Haifa's travel bag in the trunk. Then Vishnu and Haifa walked towards Haifa's house.

“Assalamualaikum,” Haifa said as she knocked on her door.

“Waalaikumsalam.” I heard someone's voice from inside the house.

The door of the house was open, and I saw Euis opening the door.

“Haifa,” said Euis' mother who was shocked to see Haifa standing at her doorstep.

Haifa immediately kissed Mother Euis' hand.

“Whose name are you here?” ask Euis' mother.

Euis' mother saw Vishnu standing behind Haifa smiling at Euis' mother.

“That's who Haifa is?” ask Euis' mother.

Haifa looked back.

“Mah, this is Mas Vishnu. The employer's son Bi Nani,” said Haifa.

Vishnu salutes Mother Euis.

“Masyallah meni casep kieu,” said Mother Euis when seeing the good looks of Vishnu.

(God is so handsome)

Vishnu only smiled hearing the praise of Mother Euis.

“Please enter Den Vishnu,” said Ms. Euis.

Haifa and Vishnu entered the house.

“Sorry Haifa's house is small and messy,” said Ms. Euis as she cleaned up the messy living room table with Dodi's books.

While Haifa went straight to her room put her travel bag.

“Dodi habits if you want to go to school, unused books like to be put on the table,” said Ibu Euis.

“Please sit down, Den Vishnu,” said Ms. Euis.

“That's who?” asked Euis' mother who saw Mr. Tono sitting in front of the terrace.

“That's my driver,” replied Vishnu.

Euis' mother headed straight outside.

“Pak, sit it inside,” Mother Euis told Mr. Tono.

“Iya, Mom. I want to come to the bathroom,” said Mr. Tono.

“Please, Sir.” Euis' mother escorted Mr. Tono to the bathroom.

Then Euis' mother returned to the living room to accompany Vishnu. While Haifa after from his room immediately made drinking water for Vishnu and Pak Tono. Haifa brought two cups of tea to the front, one he gave to Vishnu and another to Mr. Tono.

Suddenly came Bi Ros Bi Nani's sister while carrying a plate with both hands.

“Assamualaikum,” said Bi Ros when entering the house.

“Waalaikumsalam,” Reply Mother Euis.

“What's up, Ros?” mother Euis asked, looking at the plate in both hands.

“This is for Den Vishnu, I was told to cook with Ceu Nani,” replied Bi Ros.
