9. Disruption of the heart and mind

Outside the Pagoda, in the clouds.

Sect Master, Great Elder, and Elder stood there, hovering in the air, talking to each other.

"Supreme Elder Li Jiang, I didn't expect your family to have such genius potential," said an Elder.

Even though he equipped the Great Elder, you could tell from his tone that he was insinuating.

Another elder said: "It looks like your Li family almost missed the Chosen Heaven."

The conversation between Elders actually involved internal contradictions and the competition of the Dao Opening Sect.

Great Elder Li Jiang was actually in charge of the Resource Hall. This hall, as the name suggests, involved the distribution of resources to all the disciples and Elders of the sect. Whether it was the distribution of pills, talismans, weapons, or choosing a cultivation cave filled with spiritual energy, all belonged within the jurisdiction of the Resource Hall.

The Li Family was in charge of the Resource Hall for this generation.

In fact, the current Opening Dao Sect was divided into four parts: Wang Family, Yan, Li, and Sectarian parties.

The Dao Opening Sect had 9 emperors: 4 from the Wang Family, 2 from the Li Family, 2 from the Yan Family, and 1 from disciples recruited outside the family.

As a result, there is a lot of contradiction and competition between the four parties.

Li Jun was actually the Young Master of the Li family and Great Elder Li Jiang was actually his father. However, Li Jun's life in the Li family was not so good.

In the Opening Dao Sect, the disciples were divided into outer disciples, inner disciples, and core disciples. The top 10 Core Disciples were referred to as Contemporary Holy Sons. They competed against each other and the winner would win the status of Holy Son.

What is the Holy Son?

The Holy Son represented the future Sect Master of the Dao Opening Sect. This represents having most of the sect resources at your disposal.

The status of the Holy Son was second only to the Sect Master and the Great Elders of the different Hall.

The Holy Son even has the right to mobilize the elders—who are all in the Sacred Realm—when necessary.

Therefore, many disciples were competing for the status of the Holy Son.

In fact, Wang Wei was appointed as the Holy Son when he was born, but this news had yet to be announced. Although this was unfair to these disciples, this was how things were in the sects controlled by powerful groups.

Of course, things are not as simple as stated. When Wang Wei became the Holy Son, he had to prove to the Contemporary Holy Son and all the other disciples that he deserved such a title. 

Otherwise, his status was simply empty air. So, a fight was about to happen between Wang Wei and them sooner or later.

Although Li Jun escaped the pain and tribulation of the desert, Wang Wei did not. Immediately, 13 days passed, and Wang Wei was still walking.

Everyone could see on the screen outside the Pagoda was a skeleton with worn out clothes walking in the endless desert.

Immediately, the skeletal body began to decompose into the smallest sand particles blown by the desert wind.

Wang Wei was expelled out of the pagoda after thirteen days of relentless arduous travel.

It took a while for Wang Wei to process the fact that he had escaped from the endless desert.

A wish that could make even the most ruthless of people tremble.

A desire that can inspire courage, dedication, and foolish courage for all of his allies.

A will that can instill fear in the hearts of his enemies - even if he is the Devil himself.

After Wang Wei regained his composure, he observed all the disciples who were staring at him. Wherever his eyes went, most people lowered their heads in fear, while others looked at him respectfully.

Soon after, Wang Wei fainted and started to fall. However, before he fell to the ground, his father appeared out of nowhere, caught him and immediately left.
