The Destiny Emperor's Journey

The Destiny Emperor's Journey
12 Major Suffering Towards the Highest Victory Part 1

Wang Wei was sent out of the Pagoda along with all the other disciples. Each of them benefited greatly after this trial.

In fact, this time the star of the Second Examination was not Wang Wei. It was actually Li Jun. All of the core disciples had already started cultivating, so they were already used to the concept of loneliness. As they retreated in seclusion, although they would not spend hundreds of years, retreating for several decades was common. Hence, this trial had no greater impact on them than ordinary humans like Wang Wei and Li Jun.

As for Li Jun, the reason he shined the most in this trial was because he was used to being lonely.

In the Li family, other than her mother, no one would be willing to interact with her. Even his father, he would only see him at the dinner table. But then, only a few words were exchanged between them.

Li Jun was used to the cold, indifferent, and aloof gaze of the people around him. Loneliness has become part of his daily life.

So, in this trial, after several years of adapting to the environment, he immediately adjusted his emotions and tried to make the best use of his time.

Li Jun knew that the plan his brother had made for the two of them was his only chance to fundamentally change his destiny. However, this plan requires enormous resources.

With his elder brother's status, the sect elders were willing to spend it on Wang Wei, but they were unwilling to do so for him. It was his sister who insisted that he needed a powerful general to support him in the fight for Heaven's Will; therefore, the elders agreed to invest resources on him.

However, many people are dissatisfied. They couldn't complain about her older brother, but they could express their dissatisfaction to him. Therefore, Li Jun knew that the Pagoda Trial was the only way to prove to the sect that he was worthy of the resources they would invest in him. So, the better the performance in the trial, the better the future will be and guaranteed.

....

After adjusting their minds and souls for a few days, Wang Wei, Li Jun, and the other disciples returned to the pagoda for the Third Examination.

The Third Examination can be considered as one of the toughest exams in the Pagoda. The goal of the experiment was simple and clear enough: pain.

In this trial, the examiners will experience all kinds of torments - both body and soul - and they will have to endure them.

Wang Wei was confused as to how to design this test at first, but then, she only modeled it after the 18 Chinese Hell of her past life.

After entering the Pagoda, Wang Wei found himself bound by chains surrounded by a group of demons. On top of his head was a plaque that read: "Torn Tongue Chamber".

Soon, Wang Wei knew with great difficulty what these words meant. These demons used all sorts of means to cut off Wang Wei's tongue.

What made Wang Wei even more tragic was the fact that this torture had never surpassed the limits of her abilities. Once he could not stand the pain anymore and almost fainted, they stopped, then grew a new tongue so that the pain continued.

It was as if they were slowly pushing his pain threshold to a higher level. Even worse, this torture also has a spiritual aspect.

Every time his tongue was plucked, Wang Wei felt like he had lost his ability to express himself out loud. Not only physically, but he lost the determination to express his ideas, philosophies, views, even ideals. All of this was slowly taken away from him.

Therefore, Wang Wei started to fight back. He cursed these demons at every opportunity he got. Even though his tongue was no longer there, he still cursed them unheard. No one can take his voice away from him.

In the Second Layer Hell, the Scissor Chamber, Wang Wei felt the pain of all his fingers being cut off one by one. He felt a part of himself had been taken away forever, that without being whole, he would never have meant anything in life. But he refused to believe such a thing. Only he alone determines his worth.

In the Third Layer Hell, the Iron Cycads Room, Wang Wei suffered being hung on an iron tree. The trees would pierce through his body, then pierce all the organs that came into contact with him. His screams echoed throughout the room for endless hours.

In the Fourth Layer Hell, the Chamber of the Vengeance Mirror, Wang Wei was shown his true identity through a mirror. In this mirror, he saw that he was a powerful Emperor, but, to sit on that throne, he was willing to do anything. He killed millions of people. He sacrificed the sect that raised him. And even his parents could not escape his greed for power. Thousands of worlds were destroyed and countless races became extinct because of their thirst for power.

In the Fifth Layer of Hell, the Steam Room, Wang Wei experienced steam alive inside the steamer. He watched as the insides of his body were slowly melted by heat and steam.

In the Sixth Layer of Hell, the Copper Column Forest, Wang Wei was placed on top of a burning copper column and felt the pain of his burning skin. In that layer, he could smell the scent of his burning skin; it smelled like overcooked street meat.

In the Seven Layers of Hell, Blade Mountain, Wang We was forced to walk barefoot up a mountain filled with sharp and pointed knives. Every step he took, his legs would be pierced, blood flowing out leaving a trail. He gritted his teeth and walked forward until he reached the top of the mountain. Then, he had to return in the same way as when he had come. He repeated the process nine times before leaving.

In the Eighth Layer of Hell, the Ice Hill, Wang Wei was left naked on the freezing hill. His body began to shiver, his speech was unclear, his breathing became short. His skin became bright red, his consciousness slowly faded, his body functions dropped below normal functions. She lay on the floor in a fetal position trying to find warmth and comfort. Even his ideas or memories of warmth and comfort slowly faded away. Therefore, he tries to think only happy thoughts, only good memories with his loved ones to pass this ordeal.

In the Hell of the Ninth Layer, the Boiling Oil Cauldron, Wang Wei felt what it was like to be cooked alive with cooking oil in a large cauldron. He even saw the demons in charge at this level secretly infuse some herbs into the cauldron. Worse yet, this process does not only occur once, but repeatedly.

Throughout this torture, the only sound that was heard was only Wang Wei's scream of pain that echoed throughout the room, conveying the unimaginable pain and suffering that he had to endure. Unfortunately for him, he had only passed half of the torture in the Eighteenth Level Hell.
