The Demon King Mode System

The Demon King Mode System
CHAPTER 47: WAR 1 (AGAINST RAKSHA )

After the three high-level demons finished their discussion, Xeron and Rashka walked out of the hall and immediately gathered their troops to prepare for departure.

A large number of low-level demons came out from their lair and gathered. Xeron and Rashka led them out of the demon city. After they left, the army quickly split into two units. One was the power Rashka had brought, while the other was the one Xeron had summoned.

Rashka's army was a combination of Ignatius's and his own, so it was comparable to Xeron in terms of numbers and strength. These two forces travel separately even though their mission is basically the same — obliterating the remaining AvLee elf reconnaissance team and destroying any human and elf village in sight to try to cut off supplies avlee elf.

In addition, there is an added advantage by dividing into two — breaks the attention of the main power of the AvLee elves. After all, the troops led by Xeron and Rashka were mostly made up of low-level demons. And although their numbers were large, their military strength was not high. Instead, the AvLee elves got the help of the golden dragon and were definitely stronger.

The two would join during the final battle and wait for Ignatius to come with an army of high-level demons from the demon city.

Roy naturally follows Xeron's army.

The majority of this army were small demons, with over five hundred demons. As cannon fodder, these little demons were naturally at the forefront of the army. At a glance, the army had all kinds of little demons gathered together.

The second largest group were a kind of low-level demons known as gogs. These demons are very interesting. Although they differ individually, most of them resemble monkeys, and they get their name from the ‘gog gog’ sound they make. They were rare among low-level demons and could use fire to attack from a distance. This fire was not magic, but from a special organ in their body that could secrete flammable liquid as saliva. When a gog spat saliva on their palm and threw it, it interacted with the air into a fireball that could explode.

Having such a method of attack determined that they were highly respected in the army. These explosive fireballs were like grenades and a nightmare for many low-level enemies. However, the obvious shortcoming is that it could also injure friendly troops by mistake.

The third type of demon is a hellhound, with only about 150 of them. However, this hellhound was very different from Fat Tiger. Ordinary Hellhounds could not exhale elements like Fat Tiger. Their method of attack was simple, and it relied on their powerful fangs to bite others! This hellhound is large and has fur and sturdy muscles. Regardless of whether it was their charging power or bite force, they were among the best.

Fat Tiger was naturally a stranger among hellhounds. Not only did Fat Tiger know how to exhale elements, but he also had demon wings and could fly short distances. Roy was once worried that Xeron could find out that Fat Tiger was different, but unexpectedly, Xeron didn't really care. He had just made Fat Tiger into a hellhound leader, leading them into action.

To Xeron, no matter how different Fat Tiger was, he was just a hellhound. For millions of years in the Abyss, demons like hellhounds had only managed to reach the top middle rank at the highest rank, and this was not worthy of Xeron's attention.

Fat Tiger became the boss of the hellhounds, and Roy was Xeron's aide. Low-level demons usually did not have much intelligence, and even marching was total chaos, only knowing how to follow. Therefore, one of Roy's tasks was to help Xeron train these low-level demons during the march, at least so that they could maintain the formation.

This task is not difficult nor is it easy. It was difficult because Roy did not know what kind of formation the demon army should use; it was easy because Roy only needed to slap them when he saw the formation fall apart during the march. It was simple and crude.

With Roy, Xeron has fewer things to worry about, which is why he insisted on keeping Roy.

This army, other than the chaotic demons, had many unique things. There are some big bed bows and siege engines. The bed bow is a commonly known balista, and the siege engine is a slingshot. Xeron had prepared these objects to be used against the city. Dozens of hellhounds were pulling them, moving along with the army. And because these instruments impeded progress, Xeron's forces did not move too fast.

After spending more than a month in this world, Roy gradually learned some information. The demon army was currently at the western border of the Erathian kingdom, and their target was to travel east, penetrate Erathia, and destroy the capital of Erathia. At this moment, not only the demon army from Inferno was moving, but the Necromancer Sandro army and the troops from Dungeon’s Nighon as well. These three groups are now allies and coalition forces.

Although Roy knew that this was the Hero of Strength and the Wizarding World, he really did not understand his history and background, so he did not know which war he was participating in. But that doesn't matter. All he needed to know was that the enemy of the demon army was an alliance of humans and elves.

After days of marching, the troops were about several hundred kilometers away from the demon city. The scouts who were sent to venture back to report that they had found the elves, finally saw some signs of life.

Upon hearing the report, Xeron immediately brought in troops to pursue.

These migrating elves had no habit of sending out scouts. Therefore, when Xeron led the demon army and appeared behind them, these elves panicked. The old and young among them were escorted to escape quickly, while the younger and stronger stayed behind to buy time for them.

Among these young children were fat mining dwarves and slender wood fairies, who were good archers. Obviously, they made the wrong decision. Only dozens of them were no match for Xeron's demon army, and they couldn't last long. When they die, the demon army will capture the old and young who are fleeing.

The devil never had mercy, and Xeron was no different. Upon seeing that these elves and dwarves dared to stay back against the demon army, Xeron looked furious. He roared and ordered the little demon to attack.

This group of little demons was used to killing. They shouted and charged at these elves and dwarves in a mess. However, what greeted them was the arrows fired by the wooden elves!

The little devil that attacked at the very front was pierced by this arrow. And standing behind, Roy could clearly see that some little demons were shot dead by arrows. They shrieked as they died, and their bodies were suddenly enveloped by the black fog of the Abyss Gate before turning into ashes. What remained was a ball of light that the Gates of the Abyss had drawn into the Abyss!

This was the first time Roy had seen a dead demon in another world. Such a scene would not happen in the Abyss. When the devil was killed in the Abyss, he was already dead. But here, because of the Sign of Ouroborus, the moment of death marks the expulsion from the world, and their souls are drawn back to the bottomless pit. Although their wounds remained, their bodies were reconstructed.

Although their souls were retracted, they were most likely severely damaged, causing a decrease in strength and possible memory loss. And most importantly, if there were demons with bad intentions lurking nearby, it was highly likely that they would be killed and their souls taken away as soon as they returned.

Thus, in general, the devil does not want to be killed and cast out except as a last resort.

Although the wood elves had sharp archery skills, their numbers were too few. While the little demons were attacking them, they only had time to fire two or three arrows, and there was a limit to how many little demons they could kill.

As the little devil approached, the dwarves holding the hammers took on the responsibility of protecting the elf archers. The dwarves holding these weapons were often so powerful that they killed the little demons with a single blow during the battle.

But they also can't last long. There are too many little demons. Soon, the dwarves and forest fairies find themselves surrounded and beaten to death by the little demons …

The battle ended quickly. When it was time to clear the battlefield, the dead little demons were expelled from the world, so there were no souls left. But dwarves and elves were different, and their souls would definitely appear. The little demons gathered those souls, and although they were salivating, they did not dare to swallow them but obediently handed them over to Xeron.

After receiving these souls, Xeron was very satisfied. Although the enemy this time was too few, and he did not enjoy the thrill of the battle, it was enough to harvest these souls.

After choosing, Xeron gives some small souls to Roy and devours the rest. These dozens of souls could only be counted as snacks for Xeron.

Roy takes these miserable souls, knowing that this is his bonus from Xeron. At the same time, he knew Xeron's first trap in the contract. Xeron did promise to give Roy ten percent of the soul after the win, but he has yet to detail the quality of the soul and only counts according to quantity.

Although it was a trap, Roy was not bothered by it. Humans have so many laws yet still have loopholes, not to mention the demon contract. The contract was only the size of a sheepskin, but how detailed was that? Moreover, Roy had already thought of the second trap that Xeron had set. Xeron could participate in battles and devour souls as he killed. The contract simply states that Roy is entitled to ten percent of the souls harvested after victory, so before the battle is over, the souls that Xeron eats do not count as the harvest of victory. Therefore, Xeron did not breach the contract…

Despite knowing that Xeron played his own small calculations, Roy was not upset. Because he knew that since Xeron could take advantage of the loopholes in the contract, he could also do the same. As long as Roy joined the battle, he could also devour souls on the battlefield. Furthermore, he could use the system to store souls, including those on the battlefield. As long as the battle continued, those souls were not considered the spoils of war!

Clearly, the loopholes and traps in the demon contract were sometimes double-edged swords …
