Reasons Behind the Cantika Veil

After delivering Cantika to her room, Aunt Susi goes down to the kitchen to prepare food for Arya and Cantika, but she is preceded by Arya.

"Auntie just wait at my dinner table who will prepare the food today." Arya said excitedly. He cooked some of Cantika's favorite foods.

Bi Susi just smiled looking at Arya's smile and spirit.

"It seems like you really love her Son" Bi Susi said inwardly then went up to the upper room to call Cantika down.

Cantika herself was daydreaming, I don't know what she thought by hugging an old book she looked so sad. Like something was bothering him.

"Acika!" The arrival of Bi Susi shocked Cantika. He hurriedly hid the old book he had been hugging from earlier.

"What's wrong with ya?" Ask Cantika friendly.

"Let's go down, Nak Arya is making a meal for us today, soon to be done. Come on!" Take Bi Susi and then pull Cantika's hand.

Cantika only follows Bi Susi.

By the time she reached the dining table Arya had already prepared her food.

"Why do you cook Ar I can cook too, starting tomorrow I will cook for you and Aunt."

Cantika said she felt sad because she was the one who was hitchhiking and she was also the one who served.

"Can you really cook? then Aunt will be looking forward to your cooking." Bi Susi girang.

Arya just smiled looking at the atmosphere of the dining table that felt crowded at this time. Like when I was in Cantika's old house and her mother.

"Here, I specially made it for you."

Arya said as she poured Cantika's favorite beef rib soup in her bowl.

Cantika was very fond of rib soup from small, his mother used to make it from pork ribs.but since Cantika was 15 years old he told his mother to replace pig ribs with beef ribs.

Arya only knows that Cantika really likes beef rib soup never knew that Cantika used to love pork rib soup.

After that, Arya leaves for the hospital.

He opened and read each page. He recalled the first time he found the book in a room that was always locked by his mother in the old house.

At first Cantika was confused and did not understand the meaning of the writing. But after reading every page after page, he found out that his father and mother were different religions. His mother is non-Muslim while his father is Muslim.

They loved each other and decided to get married. Her mother hid her true identity and family from her father. Because he knew Cantika's father wouldn't marry him if he knew they were different religions.

But as clever as Mother Cantika hid her identity, even though she had pretended to pray with her father Cantika and secretly while going to church must have been discovered as well.

And sure enough somehow Cantika's father found out everything when a month was already their marriage.

They quarreled and no one would budge which resulted in separation. At that time either Father or Mother Cantika did not know that there was already a seed that developed in the womb of Mother Cantika.

Cantika's father decided to leave by leaving the divorce papers and not return.

After Cantika's father left, Cantika's mother found out that she was pregnant.

But he couldn't tell Cantika's father. Because he realized his mistake. And if he told Cantika's father what good it would be to be married just for the sake of a child. Their love is hindered by faith and religion.

Cantika cried hugging the book. He found the book when he was 15 years old. Since then he convinced himself to embrace Islam like his father and started wearing a hijab and veil. He found an Ustadzah to lead him to utter two sentences of shahada.

But he hid it from everyone including his mother.

When he first saw Cantika wearing a veil his mother was shocked. But Cantika explained that her cheek hurt a sharp object and left a mark so she did not believe herself to show her face.

Her mother was very worried, she wanted to check Cantika's face but Cantika was in the way. He said that he was really embarrassed to show his face and had also treated him in the hospital so that he would not get an infection but would leave a terrible mark.

His mother was very saddened by Cantika's circumstances and never again forced to see Cantika's face.

Everyone also only knew that, they thought Cantika's face was so bad that they had to cover it with a veil.

No one knows that Cantika is only pretending because she can't tell anyone that she has embraced Islam following her father before she manages to find him.

He always found out who his father was but either from his mother or from the old book he found no clues except for a picture of a house with pine trees surrounding it as well as the river that surrounds it.

He's been looking for a place like that, but he hasn't found one yet. Though maybe that place is an important clue for him to be able to meet his father.
