Andra drives his bike at high speed. Splitting the streets with a flood of annoyance. His heart was racing with the night wind. His jacket crossed with clenched hands. Andra is increasing the speed of the motorbike without caring about the crowded highway.
For everyone, home is where we go home. The place that everyone misses the most, the place where we get happiness, and the place where we can feel comfortable. But not for Andra. For him, home was the single most sinister place. A place where he always felt lost and void.
Trouble after trouble came rushing to him. Love seems to know it. The world seems to be hostile to him. When there are many people around him, somehow he still feels alone.
People who pass by, don't care about it. There is also a curse on him because the motorbike rate is above average. Until the moment his motorbike passed through the streets are dim and very quiet people, suddenly a figure passed in front of him to make Andra motorcycle tires squeak because stepping on the brakes suddenly.
Andra's breath hunted along with a deathly pale look in shock. A girl sat down with her head down, with some oranges splattered from her plastic bag.
Andra immediately removed the helmet from her head, then got off her bike and approached the girl. “Mbak? Ma'am, isn't papa?”
Andra was getting worried when the girl didn't respond. A moment later, the man gasped as the girl raised her face.
“Adyra..”.
••••
The breeze moved lightly sweeping the cold of the night. The sky is not completely dark because it is accompanied by thousands of stars and moons. But, silence seemed to envelop non-stop. Since then, the girl has remained silent. His eyes were straight as if they were empty. In fact, when a long chair in a roadside stall he was sitting in moved slightly, he hardly noticed it at all.
Andra took a seat beside the girl, then thrust a bottle of mineral water in front of her. “Drink first, nih!”
The girl grabbed the mineral water violently, then gulped it down greedily as if her throat was already barren due to drought. Andra stared in horror at the girl drinking in an unnatural way.
“Slow-slow,” says Andra. The girl looked over without responding. Until a moment later, the water he was drinking seemed to be stuck in his throat and made him cough.
“Uhuk! Uhuk—huk!”
“Tuh, right! What did I say?” Andra nibbled at the girl's nape without permission.
“Heh! You think I'm gonna puke, what?” snapped the girl while hitting Andra's hand. The guy just kept quiet, without looking at the girl.
“Sorry.”
Adyra frowned, then let out a long sigh. “Sorry?” he said repeating Andra's words. “After you almost hit me and made me shock like a crazy person, you just said.. sorry?”
“Partially who told the mallem to walk alone,” Andra quipped.
Adyra doesn't like it. “I should have said that! Who told malem-malem to speed up on the road?” Adyra grunted in annoyance. “Lo want to crash the other day?”
Andra did not open her voice. He looked straight ahead as if he did not care about Adyra who had rambled this until it froze. The focus seemed to be split into pieces. While Adyra, she stopped her chatter when she saw Andra who was just silent.
“Lo why, anyway?”
Andra turned his head off guard, “Ngak papa.”
Adyra rolled her eyes irritated at feeling neglected. But then, a moment later, he remembered something. What is important, about Andra.
“Lo... any problems?” Adyra tried to say it carefully. As if you do not want Andra offended by his words.
Andra just looked over for a moment, then shook her head. “Even if I have a problem it is not your business, right?”
Adyra nailed her eyes, then let out a long sigh. The girl slid her legs while rubbing them slowly from the cold. “Looks me, a few days ago, you once told me that we have already done.”
“Emang I ever said that?”
Adyra nodded enthusiastically. “And I've been nganggep lo temen since we first met when lo nolongin I it.”
Andra unintentionally chuckled as she recalled her first encounter with Adyra back then. Recalling Adyra's deathly pale expression when facing the upperclassmen in the school hallway, until she put up the horses for showing off her karate style in Elementary.
Adyra pulled the corner of her lips, as she saw Andra smiling. “Lo can tell me anything. I will always try to be a good listener for lo.”
Andra paused for a moment, as Adyra patted her shoulder twice. “Because I temen lo,” whispered.
Andra pulled the corner of her lips perfectly. A sweet smile returned Adyra's smile. Andra felt something different. At least he is not alone in this world. He was surrounded by many people who loved him. And right now, he also has Adyra in his life.
Adyra gasped, as a jacket fell on both of her shoulders perfectly. “Still, because you want to be my friend,” whispered Andra mystical.
Adyra gawked for a moment, as Andra landed her hands on Adyra's shoulders as if embracing.
Suddenly in a cold night like this, sweat started dripping down his forehead. He began to grow sultry, as if the oxygen supply had thinned out.
••••
“Loh? Isn't this the way to my house?” Adyra frowned while patting Andra's helmet from behind in panic.
Andra complained, “Nevent need to parno, kali! I can't kidnap you too, right?” Andra screamed a little because they were both on the bike.
Inwardly, Adyra confirmed Andra's speech. But soon Adyra's eyes widened in disbelief after Andra switched off his engine at a place Adyra had never expected.
“Down.”
Simple, but awesome.
A sentence representing Adyra's current feelings. Adyra smiled in amazement at the expanse of stars that were plastered beautifully in the sky. In a very dark field, there are thousands of stars that make this place feel very amazing. Andra smiled, looking at the sparkling gaze from Adyra's eyes.
“Where? Nyesel no, I brought it here?”
Adyra averted her gaze, then looked at Andra without removing the smile on her face. “This is so, so cool!”
Andra dropped her body on the grass by lying down while using her arms as a pillow. Adyra followed the same, without turning her eyes to the sky above.
“Lo often here?” adyra asked as she turned her face slightly towards Andra.
Andra nodded then shook her head, “Ngak also.”
“Lo know, no? He said, every good person who dies will be the brightest star up there.”
Andra turned her head then chuckled softly, “Masa?”
“Iya.” Adyra nodded steadily. “And I believe, if Mama has become one of the brightest stars.
Andra stunned. The smile that had been engraved earlier had now disappeared fading gradually.
“Mama?” Andra.
Adyra smiled as she nodded. “Mama is the most valuable woman in my life. The only place I go home, and share hope.”
Adyra sighed then smiled. “Gue never knew why God took the person I love most from my life. But I never messed up. Because as unwilling as it may be, I never feel happy even though it does not last long enough.”
Andra was sculpting, as if all the vocabulary in his brain was eroded away with nothing left. It was as if someone had pinched his heart there.
Adyra noticed a very noticeable change in Andra's expression. He knew, if perhaps the sentence he was talking about had touched his mind. And the girl had indeed deliberately created such feelings to disturb Andra's mind.
“Ndra.. I love being with me.” Andra tilted her face slowly. Seeing Adyra's face exposed to the reflection of moonlight.
“Lo... also dear right, same nyokap lo?”
There's nothing interesting about Andra's face. The guy started to put on his mainstay flat expression. Adyra breathed a sigh because Andra did not return her words. But a moment later, Andra smiled and nodded.
Adyra saw the response the guy gave. Just a smile and a nod, without a statement. Adyra smiled bitterly, as if she could feel what Andra was feeling through her eyes.
••••
The sound of the door opening caused a slow squeak. The middle light has been turned off, and surely everyone in this house is asleep by now. Andra checked her watch. And sure enough, it's late at night. Andra didn't realize it because she talked about things with Adyra for too long before Andra drove her home.
The guy stepped into the house, then fumbled through the wall to find the switch. After Andra found her, she immediately turned on the light and saw someone sleeping on the sofa.
Andra paused for a moment, looking at the sleeping figure subconsciously. His feet stepped without a cue, approaching the sofa. And it made Andra more clearly see his face.
“Mama.”
Andra opened her eyes in disbelief. His chest warmed up to see the peaceful face of his sleeping mother. The woman looked cold because of her sleeping position which hugged her own body like a shivering person.
Andra went inside the guest room, then she came out carrying a warm blanket in her hand. The movement of his hands was very painstaking to spread the blanket to cover his mother's body. Try as gently as possible so that the woman does not wake up.
A moment later, Reya wriggled to make Andra rewind her steps. The woman was just looking for a comfortable position with her eyes closed.
Andra sighed in relief. At least, Mama didn't know that Andra was nearby.
Andra's feet began to step closer to her Mother. He stretched out his hand, slightly rubbing Mama's hair with his fingertips. His hands clenched after realizing what he was doing.
Andra pulled her hand suddenly. Then it passed leaving Reya without waking her up.
Reya opened her eyes slowly, as she felt that someone was rubbing her head. A moment later, the woman was shocked when she saw the warm blanket covering her body. He didn't even remember bringing a blanket before he fell asleep.
It seemed, he had a dream that Andra was covering him earlier. And after that, Andra also rubbed her head affectionately. But it couldn't have been if Andra had done it all.
“Maybe just a dream,” his sigh disappointed.
Elsewhere, Andra was still standing behind the door of her room, who was endlessly looking at her palm with a feeling that was hard to explain.
Reality seemed to have slapped him. And fate has turned her feelings upside down.
