Stuck in Marriage with a Wife

Past times

Christopher and Ratih were sitting on a park bench and were busy with their own thoughts. After a long time did not meet, finally the couple who used to be young is now found in their twilight age.

"How are you?" ask Christopher awkwardly.

"I'm good, Brother. How are you doing too?" tanya Ratih returned with a smile towards her ex-husband. Not ex-husband but still husband, because they are not divorced. They are only separated by time that goes on for so long.

"Well," said Christopher who also looked at Ratih.

Christopher was eager to grab onto Ratih's body and hug the woman. But he realized that everything was no longer the same, everything was different. It's all over and changed.

"I miss you, Ratih" said Christopher in a heavy tone.

Ratih is an ordinary woman who used to work as a secretary at the Christopher company. That's where their love story begins. That feeling grew because of the frequent togetherness they went through. But unfortunately, the relationship was challenged fiercely by both parents Christopher who wanted a classy son-in-law from a rich family and of course the dream son-in-law was not Ratih.

Ratih replied with a smile, "I miss you too, Brother," said Ratih.

Christopher loved this woman. He was even willing to lose anything for the sake of Ratih. However, still he was unable to maintain the woman to be beside him because of the selfishness of his parents.

"Since we parted I've lost my way in life" Christopher said with teary eyes. "I'm looking for you and Baby A, but you're lost in the earth. Never one day, you got out of my mind. I always wanted to meet even for a moment" said Christopher, a drop of clear details escaped in his eye patch. However, as fast as lightning the man wiped it.

"Sister." The tongue feels dull. "That night, Baby A and I took shelter in an old shophouse. Baby A fever, her body's hot and I'm freaking out. A 3-month-old baby should hold back in the rain. Then a car approached us both. Rollies, the man helped us and took us to his house."

"She immediately called the doctor to check the condition of Baby A. Baby A was kept in the glass for several weeks because of his condition. I lived with the man, slowly he fell in love with me and asked to marry me. At first I refused because I did not have any feelings and how can I get married while I am still your wife. But because of debt of gratitude I can not refuse let alone he so loved Baby A like his own son. And I need the figure of a husband to raise our son."

"Our marriage only lasted for 15 years, I was accused of cheating by Jasmine who wanted Rollies to be her husband. I've already explained that it's not true. I'm not cheating and I'm not double."

"Where did Jasmine find a picture of me with another man. It wasn't me and I wasn't close to anyone at the time. I was kicked out of the house for the second time."

"Baby A misunderstood him and thought that I was double. He was a teenager and I understood the feelings of a child who didn't want his parents to separate. But in any language I explain everything, Baby A will not believe it. Since then I have never seen him again. She's upset. He's disappointed and he hates me."

"Then I met Brother Robson who was looking down on me like a diamond. I work at his house taking care of our son Agam. I love Agam as much as I love Alta. Especially their age is the same."

"As time went on love grew between us. Unknowingly, I also fell in love with the figure of the man. After a long time I was thrown away worthless but he was a kind-hearted man who was willingly leaning on me. We married and lived happily."

"She also helped find Baby A. But destiny is not on our side. Baby A's missing in the earth and the Rollies won't tell us where our son is."

Ratih cried as hard as to tell his old life. He always meets good men. But always destroyed by in-laws and third people. So that the foundation that has been solidly formed collapsed with devastating memories until nothing.

Christopher also shed tears hearing the story of the woman beside him.

"You know what, brother? I was devastated when I had to let Baby A live alone out there. But he doesn't want to meet me. She's upset. He's disappointed. And I realize it's all my fault that I haven't been a good mother to her" Ratih said in tears.

"I understand" said Christopher. "It's all my fault. If only I had been braver against Daddy and Mommy, I definitely wouldn't have lost you and Baby A. But I'm too scared, I'm afraid they're hurting you. I'm afraid they're doing things I don't want to do" Christopher explained.

Ratih rubbed his cheek, "It's not your fault, brother. All are the destiny paths of life that we must pass" said Ratih.

"Now we've met" he continued.

"Can we still be together, Ratih? I love you!" Christopher looked at Ratih expectantly. Until whenever his feelings never change.

Ratih smiled and shook his head, "Sorry Brother, I have found the right person. I cannot betray the promise we agreed to together. I love Brother Robson" said Ratih.

Christopher lowered. His love story ends here enough, his love story has ended not now but after 30 years ago.

"You'll be happy, brother. We can be friends and family. As well as coexisting," explained Ratih rubbing the man's shoulder.

Christopher nodded. Even though his heart was eager to win back. But he does not want to be selfish, the happiness of Ratih is the most important thing in his life.

"Thank you, Ratih. I wish you Robson's happy forever. Sorry our promise to age together is not fulfilled" said Christopher smiling wryly.

Train smile. He understood the feeling of this man. But he apologized because he was already living in the future. Even though he knows Christopher still loves him like he used to. But there was one feeling he had to take good care of.

Without them realizing it, Robson stood behind them and heard all the conversations of the two people sitting in front of him. Robson's tears trickled down, he was already pessimistic and convinced that Ratih would choose Christopher over him.
