SILENT SENTENCE

SILENT SENTENCE
4. LIKE THE HOTTEST RAIN

The relationship of the brothers turned awkward since the incident 5 days ago, Ken is not as active as usual at home. Ms. Mirna and Mr. Hardi had to hold back tears every time they came face to face with their firstborn. There was no more witty impression in Ken's two beautiful eyes, his spoiled tones of speech could no longer be heard, he always forgot his dinner and breakfast. Ken was no longer cheerful, always showing a forced smile. And it all happened after knowing how much Deka hated and embarrassed them about their brotherhood.

There is one thing Ken never forget, which is delivering lunch to Deka whenever his sister has a basketball practice schedule until the afternoon. Ken still set off on a bike to Deka school, ignoring the awkwardness of Deka's always cold gaze.

“Kha, mba and lat. Dhi anan lambhai (Deka, sorry late. On many roads).

Deka clucked, then snatched the blue box from Ken's hand.

“You are useless! Food needs a reason. You don't know if I'm hungry?”

Ken did not smile as usual, just looking at Deka with a sad highlight that made Deka wave himself.

“O—oke, you go now!” Deka stared around the field that was starting to get crowded, “do you see? My friends have gathered, I am lazy to follow their questions about you. Quick go!”

Ken gulped as his shoulder was pushed roughly by Deka. With a hurt feeling (again) he left the school area, without knowing Ayu was looking at him with sadness. After Ken actually leaves, Ayu comes close to Deka when the teenage boy snatches the ball from the hands of one of his team members.

“Hai, Beautiful. Not here, the place is hot.”

“Silence, Dirga. I just want to talk to a human who doesn't have this favor.” Deka raised an eyebrow as Ayu spoke cold and unusual.

“Ayu, why—”

“Deka,” Ayu cut off the haughty man's words, “never did you think even just once? You have a good and caring sister. But I regret her who can not get the same affection as she loved.”

Deka nodded, handing the basketball to Dirga. Then he looked at Ayu's goal and said, “so you have dared to show your concern for the Mute? Good, I don't need to know about you who has a crush on him.”

“What do you mean by a crush, Deka? We're not talking about whether I like or dislike your brother. But I just want to remind you not to be mean and cold towards Ken. Anyway, he's your brother. You—”

“Quite talk, Miss. Don't make all your scathing remarks ruin my look of admiration for you, okay?”

Ayu shook her head, feeling useless advising someone like Deka. “I'm so sorry, Deka. Poor brother Ken who has an evil brother like you. I hope, someday he will be happy without any pain because of his sister.”

Ayu stared emotionlessly at Deka's face.

When Ayu turned to leave, the girl stopped and slightly turned her head. He said in a flat voice, “don't make yourself sorry, Deka. As long as God is still giving time, I hope you change your attitude towards Ken. You should know, losing people who care about us is the most painful thing.”

After saying the words that Ayu herself thought would not work for Deka, the beautiful girl passed with limp shoulders, leaving the person who lost the mood to play basketball and just stared at Ayu's back. For Ayu, why is it so hard to convince others of a concern? Why is it that just convincing a loved one has to be this difficult?

‘I don't want to interfere too far, Deka. But I just don't want you to regret it. You should know that Brother Ken is so valuable.’ Ayu nodded, without any intention of wiping away her tears. The girl couldn't help but be sad, never could when it came to the people she cared about.

...AT HOME - 11:12 noon...

KEN looked at the beautiful face of his mother, then turned to look at the face of the Papa. Heavy tears like rain are also now pouring down on the ground of the yard of the house. Slowly, Ken's two hands shook, moving and grasping the beautiful palm of Bu Mirna's hand. Oh my God, everything in her mother is so beautiful. Papa falls in love with this woman.

“My son, stop this. Mama is not strong anymore, you have to tell Deka the truth. If you tell a story, she will definitely realize.”

Ken shook his head, then muttered, he replied, “Mba... Mu’a utah nji, Kha gha leh au (Ma... All promised, Deka can't know)."

Sweep lovingly given Mr. Hardi, the man looked down and kissed his beloved son's forehead. O Great Lord, from what did You create a heart as clean as that of his son? Tears never stopped, Ken remained in his position to keep a secret a thing he had long hidden. Only Deka doesn't know, and he can't know. Besides, Ken doesn't want his sister to be sad later.

...20:12 at night...

However, the nature and feeling of curiosity made Deka finally let out a question after successfully swallowing her chew.

“Papa, Where's Ken?”

The spoonful of food that Bu Mirna was about to put into her mouth came to a halt in front of her face. The woman's mouth turned grim, she just kept quiet.

A flat pitched answer sounded from the head of the family, “you know we never talk at dinner.”

“Hump.” Deka immediately clenched both of his lips. The teenager's eyes did not stop staring around, trying to find a person who was not in a nearby chair.

“Mama want to go to room.”

Ms. Mirna stood up first, leaving the remaining food on the plate. Deka looked up, looking at his mother's back in wonder. His mother was not one to easily abandon food before it ran out.

Deka looked at his Papa, the man took a breath that sounded heavy. Hurriedly Deka finished his meal and folded both arms on the table. He looked like a child who was ready to tell the excitement of answering PR Mathematics.

“Papa, I want to ask... Euum, my food is up, so bo—” already

“Better you go directly to the room and sleep, Deka. Tomorrow you go to school, ‘kan?” Deka was again confused, her father told her in a flat tone.

“Papa, wait!” Deka called when her father stood up and was about to go to the room. “Please tell me what happened. I mean, why is everybody quiet tonight?“

“Deka, what did Papa say about entering the room, hm? It means sleep. Now, get in there.”

The youngest child quickly asked, defeating the ego for a moment might not be a bad thing.

“Papa, Ken where to? She hasn't been home since this afternoon.”

Deka could see her Papa's shoulder stiffening, the sharp gaze had changed instantly.

“Papa?”

“What do you mean, son? Ken's not going anywhere, why ask?”

Deka did not know the reason he felt sick hearing the last question of his father earlier.

“Papa, something's weird tonight. Mama didn't eat her dinner, she was sad and moody. What happened to Mama? What hurts?”

Deka had never asked this much before, she was only aware of it.

“Maybe your mom is sick, son. Ah, he had complained of stomach heartburn, maybe that was the reason he did not eat voraciously earlier. Never mind, don't worry.”

“Papa, don't hide anything. What the hell's going on? Mama why and Ken where?”

Well, Deka didn't want to imagine how Ken looked when his brother heard all the questions he had just asked. Mr. Hardi without turning to take a deep breath, it did not escape from the sharp eyes of Deka, making the youngest feeling become unkissed. Then without Deka knowing the reason, the words of the head of the family managed to hit him severely. He suddenly and unusually heard.

“You won't have any more interruptions. Ken is not with us from now on.”
