THE TWO boys laughed happily, occasionally pushing each other when there were funny clowns that teased to play together. Unfortunately, one of them did not like clowns, and the slightly older child continued to encourage the youngest to stick to the thick-baked comedian.
“I don't want to, Ken! Mama!” Ken, the name of the older boy, laughed out loud at the face of his sister, Deka, flushed red and almost cried.
The beautiful woman came and smiled gently, next to her stood the husband shaking his head. Don't know why their kids are so agile if they're at the night market like they are today.
The bright and hustle and bustle of the visitors bored Deka a little, but his body was immediately pulled by the brother towards the small gate in front of the ring.
“We ride it, Deka. Come on, buy a ticket first!" Ken said as he pointed towards the guard of the counter.
Deka gulped his saliva, staring at the ring which was circling slowly due to the wind.
“Kurasa..” Whisper Deka while scratching his head. “...I'm not coming.”
Ken put on a pouting face, then pulled his sister's hand towards the cashier. “I'll take care of you. Don't be afraid, okay?”
“No! I don't want to go up, Brother!” Deka exclaimed, his hands were pulled by Ken again and now headed towards the gate to hand over their respective tickets.
Ow... Why is Ken so quick to buy his tickets? Deka was not even aware.
"When you're not around, I always say’a let have a sister, it's up to a boy or a girl.” Ken said, his gaze was so soft and glaring towards the ringleader. “I will take him to the playground one day, together ride the reanglala despite the high place.”
I'm scared, Brother.” Said Deka again.
Occasionally he was hit by other children scrambling to ride the ring. Ken smiled, then grabbed his sister's shoulder.
“Therefore, I also promise to take care of him. Brother is there to take care of sister. Uhh... I am smart!” Ken guided Deka to the small gate where his guards were waiting with a friendly smile.
“There's Mama too.” Miss Mirna said. He grabbed the shoulders of his two favorite children from behind.
Don't forget Papa!” Sahut the head of the family with the face of sumringah.
Deka looked up, smiling happily towards both her parents and brother.
“One family will be enough to make you brave, my sweet little sister! Come!” Ken exclaimed cheerfully without a care for Deka who screamed unhappily.
“Don't call me sweet, ugly brother!”
At that time, there was no experience as beautiful as in the bianglala. There is no harmony on the playground. Their laughter even beats the cheerful songs tuned there.
...MANY YEARS LATER... ...
HIS NAME is Ken, a 19-year-old boy with thin lips and bushy hair. He's a teenager who's not tall enough, his nose is small and tiered. Ken is the eldest son of Pak Hardi and Bu Mirna, has a younger brother named Deka. Ken loved his little brother more than anything, only he was not very good at expressing his affection for Deka, and it was a joy to see the youngest laughing happily.
Ken always watches over his beloved sister remotely as Deka plays with his friends. For Ken, 17-year-old Deka remains a cute and adorable little sister. Therefore, he had to guard her from any danger, even though she was the one who deserved to be guarded. Deka's affection is no longer a secret, the youngest always gets what he asks. Ken will accompany Deka to study late at night, no matter tomorrow he also has to enter school and more enterprising because he has sat in the 3rd grade of High School.
“You just need to be quiet as usual, and don't sleep before I fall asleep.”
Ken would smile and nod at the tone of his sister's orders. That's not a problem, sleeping late is one of his habits since a month ago. He is also confused what makes Deka always a nightmare in the middle of the night. Deka would scream in fear, and Ken was by no means the big brother who would let him be frightened inside the room.
As of this moment, Ken would sit hugging both knees facing the window whose curtains were open. The stars look beautiful with a flicker of light.
‘What in heaven do you want to shine on its inhabitants as on earth?' the mind that is always the same, then will be returned a smile by itself.
The sreet! Ken turned his head as Deka's right leg lifted and hugged his Spiderman picture bolster. Ken smiled amusedly. Right ‘kan? His sister is still a child and adorable. Suddenly, though...
“Unghh..” Ken swiftly stood up when he heard the moans. It is clearly visible cold sweat on the forehead and temples of Deka.
“Kha... Kha..” Ken whispered as he rubbed his brother's sweaty forehead.
He turned his head, looking for his sister's handkerchief which was always available on the study table. His left hand wiped Deka's sweaty forehead, while his right hand tried to grab a glass of warm tea on the bedside table.
“Kha, numbnguuun..”.
Deka opened his eyes wide. He straightened his neck and drank tea greedily. Ken's worried gaze radiated watching the fear from those teary eyes. Ken knows, his sister will definitely have nightmares about the past of their accident. Deka was very fond of warm tea and Ken had a habit of providing a glass in his sister's room, helping the youngest drink painstakingly.
“Stop looking at me, Stupid!” Ken stammered at the cold speech. He hurriedly placed the glass back onto the table, he smiled faintly looking at the glass whose contents stayed half.
“Kha... Kha..” Ken whispered back. A relieved smile was seen on Ken's face as Deka finally stopped groaning and went back to a deep sleep.
“I suffered because of you,” Ken flinched when Deka re-opened his voice. The voice sounded raucous and full of pain. Ken looked at Deka who was now on his back under the thick, red blanket typical of Spider Man.
“If it wasn't you, I wouldn't have nightmares every night. So, you have to take responsibility every night, too" Deka said.
Ken lowered his head for a moment, the murmur of his thin cleavage of lips did not form a meaningful sentence at all. Deka clucked, then pulled the blanket that was draping his head.
“You..” The forefinger was blurting impolitely in front of Ken's nose, “...sleep below and don't talk much.”
Ken swallowed. Was that a threat? Deka grunts softly, “ah, I forgot. You ‘kan mute.”
The deg! Like a pointy wood thrown from afar to the chest, Ken felt so sick hearing his sister's cold words. Too bad, the smile he had seemed reluctant to disappear for a moment.
“Dkah.kkhhaa..”
“Whatever."
Deka turned to his original position; sleeping by hiding behind a thick and warm blanket, ignoring the cold nights where his brother would have trouble sleeping without the warmth of the blanket. Ken went back to where he was, sat in front of the window and now with his legs crossed. For a moment, the two round eyes inherited from his Papa were visible, he yawned a sign of drowsiness starting to come.
Filled with a large, soft-haired hambal, Ken laid his tired body there and closed his cushioned eyes next to his arm. The moon peeked out from behind the half-open window curtain, conveying a yearning for a well-groomed night in nocturnal animals. Ken reviewed the smile as if no cold cliffs had ever been created. Deka is so indifferent also ketus, but Ken does not want to take a headache. Ah, today was exhausting as usual. The important thing is Deka is safe and it's okay now, so Ken can sleep releasing tired.
