Chapter 23

When Adli returned to the office, he reported the results of his meeting with Edgar to Wika.

“So, how about Edgar?” ask Wika with a smile.

“He is a very intelligent and knowledgeable person. I feel I have obtained a lot of valuable information from him,” replied Adli.

“What a pleasure, Dear. But, did you manage to find out anything about Edgar and Dili's relationship?” ask Wika.

“No, unfortunately there is nothing I can learn about that. Doesn't it sound weird that I ask him personally? At least we already know that the man named Edgar is not a random person,” replied Adli with a slightly upset face.

“Do not worry, we can still find out about their relationship,” Wika said excitedly.

They re-arrange plans to find out about the relationship between Edgar and Dili. They continued to discuss until late at night, and finally they managed to create a new plan.

“Alright, I'll be back in his office in a few days. I will try to find out more about their relationship,” Adli said.

Wika is just a mangguk-mangguk. He took a cigarette and lit it and suffered it. "There's something I want to tell you" he said, exhaling the cigarette smoke he had just smoked.

"What?" ask Adli. He asked for a cigarette and lit it like Wika.

"I have another target."

Adli looked at Wika with a look of shock and disbelief. "What did you say?" he asked with a trembling voice.

Wika smiled at him. He put his cigarette on the ashtray as he approached Adli and hugged him. "Yes, I have another target. I want to melt the heart of a wealthy businessman, the owner of a construction company, Mr. Heriawan," he said.

Wika let go of her embrace. He looked at Adli with a deathly smile. "Do I care? I just want to find a way to be happy in the future. We can have many possessions and live comfortably."

Adli could only be silent harboring his anger. He feels jealous. He did not like the idea of Wika approaching other men. "Why is your idea always like that? Am I not acting enough? You told me to get close to Dili" he said with a face that showed dislike.

Wika looked at him sharply. "Honey, we can't depend on Indra forever. We need to find other ways to achieve our own happiness. It's just a backup plan if your efforts fail."

Adli was still not entirely convinced by Wika's plan. He feels anxious if Wika makes a mistake and damages their relationship. "Find another way. I don't want you to do anything wrong and ruin our relationship" he said, throwing his face away.

Wika shook her head. "I'm sorry, honey, but I have to do this. I will try my best and I'm sure it will work. We'll live happily according to our dreams."

Adli was silent for a moment. He knew that it was impossible to change Wika's opinion, even more so when the woman had already talked about their future.

“In addition to being unethical, getting into the lives of others is very risky. Especially if his wife and children do not accept him. We have not identified exactly how their character,” said Adli in a hoarse voice.

Wika looked at him with a cold look. “It's about money, Adli. We need money. Much money. You know that!"

Adli was feeling hurt. He has done a lot of things but it seems that he has not been able to satisfy Wika. To him, money is not everything. He was just trying to earn money to make the woman he loved happy.

“I don't want to know anymore about this plan!,” Adli said firmly.

Wika just shrugged her shoulders. “However, the final decision is with each of us. If you don't want to come, that's up. But I'll keep doing it.”

Adli doesn't know how else to talk to a very stubborn Wika. Whatever he has decided, can not be contested.
