“You smell of cows. Definitely not taking a shower,” I said to Hardin who picked me up. My eyes were still heavy because it was almost twelve when I was able to fall asleep last night.
“How to take a shower Sophie. I just finished milking when you called for delivery,” said Hardin, giving him a large pack of fresh cow's milk that he had just squeezed from his grandfather's farm. “Please Granny yeah,”
“Why not you alone ?”
“Khan I smell cow Sophie.”
“OK. Wait a minute yah.” I took the milk from her hand and then went to the kitchen to give it to Grandma. Grandma was frying eggs whose smell spread throughout the room making me hungry.
“Nek, from Hardin nih.”
“What ?”
“Susu fresh.”
“Ooooh, just put it in the pot. Find a clean one,” said Grandma kept concentrating on her fried eggs. After I found a clean pot and poured milk in it, I took the time to look at what was behind the hood.
“Fried rice,” I said cheerfully.
“Hardin invited all breakfast Sophie.”
I immediately ran to the front porch where Hardin was waiting for me. Hardin sat facing the front – with Fernando who seemed to suspect every move Hardin made.
“Why does this bird still consider me an enemy of Soph?”
“Maybe you are less friendly to Fernando,” I carry Fernando while wiping – ngusap his fur, “he should be invited to chat Hardin. That way he will think of you as a friend.”
“Whatever all this time he thought I was what ?” Hardin stood up and held out his hand to rub Fernando's fur.
“Hearted,” answered me and greeted with a smile.
Just as Hardin had landed his hand on Fernando's body covered in fine feathers, the bird immediately pecked his hand.
“Sophie .. thieves ...”
Hardin laughs for a moment, “The first try doesn't always work out apparently.”
“Yuk. Grandma told you to have breakfast.” I walked inside.
“You told me that I smell cow ?”
“Grandma loves studious boys like you. Don't worry.”
“Granny likes. If the grandson how is yah ?” hardin asked as if he had a fresh idea to start today.
“Like too,” I replied.
“Fernando ?”
“Maybe next time you have to bring corn so he wants to be friends with you.”
“Patut tried. Uh .... is your bike why ?”
“Ngada. Now again brought Frans to the workshop.”
“Sit Son. You haven't had breakfast yet, have you?” ask Grandma as soon as we're in the dining room.
“Eh .. not yet Nek,” replied Hardin as respectfully as possible. I guess he wanted to show the impression of being a good guy – well to Grandma.
“Good then. It's been a while since your grandfather stopped by Toebroek. She's good – is fine not ?”
“Iya, good – fine. Even this morning still milking the same – as me.”
“The milk you brought was your grandfather who was also a milkman ?”
“Ooooh, if that one is me who blushed Nek,” replied Hardin proudly. He was collecting points for Grandma to love. For the day he was worried when I said that everyone close to the family members of the owner of Toebroek should be able to play guitar.
The three of us sat around the dining table listening to Grandma who was constantly talking about her friendship with Pak Yono and Nek Irma when they were young. Once each – has a family and has responsibilities, the friendships they have forged so long little by little become tenuous.
“Please say that he should come to Toebroek occasionally.”
Hardin nodded as he stuffed the last piece of fried egg into his mouth.
“I took the bag firstwell,” I went to take my bag which is still in the room. I wish today was a Sunday so I could enjoy my bed a little longer.
“Depart yuk,” I said to Hardin then kissed Grandma's cheek while saying, “Sophie leaves well Nek.”
“I delivered Sophie first Nek,” said Hardin as polite as he could. Maybe he wants the point to increase.
“Kok no handle anyway ?” ask Hardin. I don't hold on to his waist. I'm still not used to it and a little uncomfortable.
“Make. You smell cow,” I replied looking for – find a reason. Then I saw Hardin holding the steering wheel of his motorbike with one hand while the other hand was looking for – find my hand. As soon as he could, he held it on his waist. My face is red, my ears are red and my nose is red. In addition, the cold of the morning can not also prevent the sweat that comes out of the palm of my hand.
“Cock dryness ?” hardin asked as he glanced at me from his rearview mirror.
“Deg – deggan know.”
“That's because you hold one hand only. Try if two – are second to.”
“No dare,” answer I am shy – shy.
Hearing my answer, he held the steering wheel again with one hand while the other hand looked for – find one hand that still hangs. As soon as possible, he immediately held it on the other side of his waist.
“Then how do you do?”
No I answered but in my heart I said, “enak also”.
The school gate was already in front of us. Some children in white ash uniforms – ashes were also seen coming in and out. Hardin stopped his motorbike under a tree by the roadside near the gate.
“You didn't go to college this morning ?” I took off my helmet.
“Later nine,” he received the helmet I thrust at him. “What time will you pick up ?”
“Jam one.”
“OK,” then he looked at me like he wanted to say something.
“What's up?” i asked.
“Sophie. You don't want to sing in Toebroek like you used to ? Singing with – with Grandma and Brother Frans ?”
“Honestly I miss that Hardin. Moreover, the atmosphere in the club house does not make me comfortable this late –.
“What happened ?”
Then like running water I told Diana about Hardin. How he behaves can be very different behind and off the stage. “But Stan said that I should get used to this.”
“You mean get used to what ?”
“Competition Hardin.”
“Not a healthy competition I guess.”
“Betul. All of this makes me feel uncomfortable. I have always been afraid of conflict. But maybe I should start to deal with it well. After all, maybe this is the path I can take to reach my dreams.”
“I know that everyone has a dream. I also have Sophie's dream. But sometimes – sometimes the dream will be beautiful if it is allowed to become a dream. The real beauty is when you open your eyes and can do what is right – becomes your heart's desire. Maybe you should think again whether your dream is your wish.”
“Hai,” Dede come half running with bright face.
“Why are you so happy De ?” my many.
“Today khan it's my turn to speak in front of the Indonesian time class later,” said Dede with sparkling eyes – binar. Lessons that make him able to express his opinion in front of many people must make my best friend happy.
“OK, I'll go first. I'll pick you up at one o'clock. Yuk De,” said Hardin took his bike away.
“Nak does Soph have a girlfriend ?” ask Dede. We were walking in the front hallway of the class.
“It must be good De. Today she brought me cow's milk.”
Dede laughed amusedly. “Hearts – fat liver loh.”
“Gak pa – pa Fat De. The important thing is there dear.”
At seven o'clock, the school bell rang.
