CHAPTER 24 The Watchtower is Burning

CHAPTER 24 || Watchtower Burned

Right now Chao was biting his grilled meat, it was a blackish brown.

"His charred and smoky taste is quite strong, thankfully not exactly charred," Chao commented as he tasted his grilled meat.

Chao was still sitting by his campfire, under a tree. The village gate is still closed. When Chao looked at the gate, it was only dark, there were no lights. The gatekeeper and the archers in their tower, either awake or asleep. Because the place was too dark, not even the flames of illumination were visible.

As his flesh ran out, Chao stood up to gather more twigs and branches. He took a burning branch as a temporary illumination. Chao walked around a nearby tree, he managed to find many branches and dried leaves. Everything was put into the Inventory.

After that Chao returned to his campfire. Some leaves and branches he took out of the Inventory, then all he dropped on the bonfire, the goal was immediately achieved that his fire immediately enlarged after it had been somewhat smaller. After the bonfire was large, Chao climbed up the tree he was sitting on. He would sleep all night in the tree.

"The night in the game is beautiful too huh," Chao commented as he looked at the stars in the sky

After that, Chao fell asleep. His bonfire was still alive and caused the sound of burning branches and leaves. He's safe from animal attacks now, but for others the story is different.

"These nights are told to look for materials, the instructor is not sane," one grumbled as he walked through the forest. The forest in this village is arguably quite complete for the basic ingredients of the Alchemist.

"I just need to pluck and collect 10 pieces of Violet Leaf and 3 pieces of Luminous mushroom" he continued while calculating the materials for the mission.

After that he moved back into the forest while holding a torch to illuminate the surrounding area. After a while he managed to find all of the Violet Leaf and stayed looking for the others. He kept looking for it until he saw a very bright light.

"Light once, lest it's all Luminous mushroom in large numbers," the person murmured happily.

He quickened his pace, as his face instantly turned to disappointment.

"Well, just a campfire. Not according to expectations .. "germunya,

" ... who is it that makes a bonfire of this size near the gate" he continued when he realized near the place was the village gate.

"That's me. I also made it out of need, not just a prank" Chao replied as he noticed the person under the tree.

"Who is it! Show yourself a coward!" shouted the man near the campfire.

"Hey stupid! If you think about that person first, I'm above you stupid!" reply Chao while sitting on the branch where he slept.

"Liar!" the man shouted a little scared.

Chao then jumped down near his bonfire and said,

"I'm not lying stupid! Look, I just got off the top,"

The man replied in an irritated tone,

"From above? What does it mean from the sky? You liar,"

"Please don't hallucinate, I'm coming down from a tree instead of from the sky. Understand stupidly," Chao replied no less annoyed.

Just as the man was about to reply back Chao interrupted him,

"What's your purpose here? If there's nothing better to get out of here before I forcefully throw it,"

"You want ap–" he said on the sidelines back by Chao,

"Speak tell me your purpose! It just so happens that the gate is close by from here,"

"I want to look for Luminous mushroom," he replied in response to Chao's question

"Oh, an Alchemist turns out," Chao said

The man nodded and said he was going to leave because he did not find what he was looking for. Chao smiled as his attempts to keep both Npc and Player away were successful, as he wanted a little calmness. The person moved towards the dark gate there while swinging his torch to the right and left to relieve his sense of boredom.

Chao climbed back up the tree and slept on it. He will wake up tomorrow.

Finally the morning came, Chao opened his eyes and found his bonfire had been extinguished, only the embers were left. Chao jumped down and cleaned his clothes from the dried leaves. Now he's going to the gate to get something.

Chao cleared his bonfire, holding his sword in his left hand while walking towards the gate. When he reached the gate, Chao did not find any guards.

"Tumben there are no guards here, yesterday there were 4 people guarding the gate" Chao murmured

Chao ignored his curiosity, he went inside after pushing the gate a little.

"The flight is not closed, very late" said Chao

When he managed to get inside Chao found the answer in a short version. The four gatekeepers he met yesterday were already lying near the gate. Chao approached them, he checked the Life Core of one of the guards, he said,

"Thank God it's still alive" Chao said. Chao took out the HP Potion and drank it on the guard.

Bar Hp the guard continued to recover until it stopped at 60%, at least it managed to save himself from death. His HP Potion was exhausted, Chao's bottle was taken back for him to store in Inventory. Chao then checked the other three guards, unfortunately two people were dead, only one person was left.

"Please ... save .. de. sa we," he said stammeringly, then shortly after he died on the spot. It seems he's been dying since.

Chao strengthened his grip on his sword and invited the remaining guards to follow him to inspect the surrounding area. First, Chao climbed to the top of the watchtower that was supposed to be inhabited by Archer. Surprisingly none of them answered or responded to Chao's words, their eyes blank. Shortly after, their gazes at Chao instantly turned into angry gazes, as if they considered Chao an enemy.

They immediately shot Chao at close range, four arrows at once. Chao clasped his sword and muttered,

"Protection and Slash."

The arrow that came directly bounced. When the dome broke Chao was gone from there, Chao immediately slashed the shoulder of one of the Archers so as not to shoot him again.

The remaining Archer immediately retreated to the end of the tower and continued to shoot Chao. Dozens of arrows directly rained down on him, Chao received all the attacks calmly and muttered again, saying,

"Inverted I,"

All the arrows around him instantly stopped, his low damage did not bother Hp Chao because it was absorbed by his Dp. The arrow immediately flew back to its owner after Chao uttered,

The Archer's body was instantly hollowed out everywhere due to the return of damage as well as his own arrows. Dp Chao is quite large so it can reflect stronger damage. However, the eyes of the Archers were still the same, which was empty. Chao was inexhaustible about their behavior, still his attacking spirit returned with great difficulty.

This time each arrow that flew instantly split itself into three arrows, making it into dozens of arrows at once. The arrow attacks did not stop and made Chao become irritated.

Two Archers drew their arrows and prepared to shoot, the other one was already standing beside Chao.

Chao's dome kept active for 6 seconds and reflected all the enemy arrows– yes now Chao already considered them enemies. Now a small battle had already taken place on top of the tower, a battle of one side that was split apart.

"Shoot now" Chao ordered

The two Rangers also shot another Ranger, Chao amplifying their attack with Enchant Double Damage I. Several arrows had successfully stuck in the body of his target, just ordinary arrows. The bodies of the four Rangers were already heavily injured, yet they were still shooting non-stop. After the four waves of arrows from Chao's side were released, Chao raised his hand as a stop sign.

The Ranger on Chao's side was also injured, but not too bad. Their wounds quickly closed back, then their HP and Mp recovered quickly. It turned out that one of them was a Support, who was certainly an Archer-type Ranger.

"Good then," Chao murmured as he looked at the latest facts before him.

As Chao let his guard down, a giant arrow was directed at him. Arrows the size of spears.

"Protection I." Fortunately Chao had blocked the enemy's attack thanks to the warning earlier.

The giant arrow was held in the air for 3 seconds, Chao shifted his body slightly as an action to avoid being hit by the attack.

It turned out that there were three additional arrows ready to be released with Chao's target and his side. Chao immediately jumped towards them and slashed at them with his sword still shrouded in flames, creating a small blaze in the enemy's clothes and the rest burning the enemy's already scattered arrows after the final attack.

Surprisingly the Rangers did not feel the slightest pain, even though his body was already severely injured. And now their bodies are burning. A gigantic arrow remained unleashed from his weapon, darting rapidly at close range towards the three Rangers at once.

The Spearman-type ranger advanced and blocked three arrows at once, because of its large size it was easy to cut it into pieces. Shards of the arrow immediately exploded and threw the Ranger backwards. He was not injured, yet this place had already been ignited by flames.

"Water Ball." A water ball the size of a football appeared and broke out on the fire, extinguishing it instantly.

The four injured Rangers fell down, precisely on top of this tower. Their bodies had already been damaged and charred in some parts, and now they were either dying or dead. Chao came forward, about to check it out. But, someone suddenly appeared near them.

"The base of pawns is useless," his hardship on the four Rangers.

"Fire Bomb" he said as he threw a disposable item towards the tower floor.

"See you later" said the man, jumping off the top of the tower and disappearing.

"Protection I." Chao activated a defensive buff.

The fire spread all over the tower, burning everything that passed through it. This fire is bigger than the explosive arrow. Quickly all these flames tried to burn the corpses of the four Ranger– Chao had already made sure they were the corpses from the words of the stranger.

"Water Ball," said a Ranger, three medium-sized water balls appeared and soaked the area around the bodies of the four Rangers, so it would not burn.

Several water balls were released to pave the way for those who wanted to evacuate their comrades. When it arrived, they immediately wiped it out, including Chao. They tried to get down from the stairs, but could not because this ladder itself was already on fire anyway. Soon the tower will collapse on its own.

" Increase Slow Falling I" said Chao, a magic circle wide enough to accommodate the four–<TAG1> eight if the bodies were counted.

Chao jumped first, followed by another Ranger. They fell quickly, then as a few meters from the ground level they floated, shortly after landing safely. Chao looked around, then looked back, and there was a fire adorning all parts of the tower. Chao's eyes shifted to another part, from the tower to the gate there was a distance of about 5 meters. However, the height of this tower is about 8-12 meters, of course if it falls will hit the gate and burn everything. Because the gate and two other towers are located close together, if it falls for any reason then the effect will be chain.

"Can you put out the fire in the tower?" chao asked, hoping the answer was the word "yes, can"

"Not too big an influence, we can only slow it down" replied one of the Rangers

"What's wrong, try to put it out. Because the tower seems to be falling towards the gate, the risk is huge" Chao said

The sound of the flames grew louder, the tower had burned violently. Chao pulled out the corpse he laid on and then stood some distance away from the other Ranger. The other three bodies were also pulled by Chao with Mp thread, he carried them away while waiting.

There were only two Rangers capable of wielding Mage abilities, the other one was only an expert in various melee combat skills, including Swordsman and Warrior skills.

" The Water Wall." A transparent wall of water was created, the same height as the tower.

They both controlled the magic and pushed it to the point of touching parts of the tower. In an instant the tower was extinguished from the fire, it looked very bad because it had just burned violently. The smoke from the rest of the extinguished flames flew up into the sky.

Chao breathed a sigh of relief from worry - it was gone. The four of them moved towards the nearest cemetery and buried all the bodies. Afterwards Chao went to another part of the village.
