Nightmare Diaries
Overlapping

Thursday morning, after touring the streets with my cousin, Ovie, on a bicycle, we stopped at a grocery store near the city.

When we arrived in front of the shop, we did not see the owner used to stand welcoming in a friendly manner. I also peeked out from behind a pile of dry snacks. There was a loud noise in there.

Ovie tried to call the shop owner. Out came a middle-aged man with narrow eyes holding a large box. He is a Chinese man who is often called Koh Ming.

It seemed like he was compiling the newly imported items. He had to postpone his duties and go to see us.

"Hayya, early in the morning have come here slaves. What are you guys buying, huh?"

Ovie and I exchanged lyrics, then smiled meaningfully.

"Koh Ming, before that, may not if we help Koh to arrange his goods must be a lot, right?"

Koh's face immediately turned bright, "Oh, that's fine! You are kind-hearted slaves. Come on in here!"

Ovie and I entered, the shop floor full of scattered items. We moved to take one by one the boxes, take out the contents and put them in a wooden storefront. The cake jars are arranged vertically above the display case. Our sachet packaging hangs over a ceiling-mounted board.

Until the clock on the wall of Koh Ming's stall chimed showing at nine o'clock, work was finally done. Buyers have started to arrive, waving from the outside, stating the merchandise they want to buy. Koh Ming told us to rest first. Then he turned right to serve the buyer.

Ovie and I sat on a bench in the corner. Observing Koh Ming's sale and purchase transactions, not slow, agile and orderly. The buyer is satisfied and returns home. But not yet intermittent from the buyer, other buyers have taken over, so on and so on until it becomes crowded.

Koh Ming looked overwhelmed. I got up, coded Ovie and walked over to Koh Ming, offering to help him again.

"Hayya, don't feel good, Koh. No papa, you guys just cleaned up the heavy duty, do not want to rest just yet."

"Look out, Koh. We don't mind."

"All right, if so. You can take the requested groceries with the buyer. If you can't remember, it's paper, just take note."

We nodded in understanding. Directly operate fast.

This stall is the best-selling stall in the capital. In addition to the friendly nature of Koh Ming, the place is also the center of attention for people who pass by. The bright red walls decorated with dragon trinkets and dandelion flowers become distinctive ornaments around it. Naturally, every morning until evening the sale is always in full demand with such a large profit.

...***...

"Dira, Ovie, come back!" Koh Ming who was counting money, called out to us.

"What's up, Koh?"

"This is your reward for helping, Koh. Thank you so much for today. Rarely are there young people like you willing to help parents like this." Koh Ming gave us some red envelopes which you immediately greeted with joy.

Actually the intention of helping Koh who was veiled in our hearts the first time was to earn a wage. Who had wanted to buy something was even stuck working with Koh. It's a really sneaky thought but that's what happened. Because also Koh who is super generous brings many opportunities for us.

After that, we went home. The sun has also started to sink into the contest, leaving orange patches in the expanse of sky. If it's a little too late we could get angry Mom.

After the magrib prayer and dinner, I chose to watch TV looking for an interesting channel.

"Sir Dira! Watch the movie Drakor! I have a new movie recommendation for my sister. Good movie!" Ovie suddenly appeared, startling me.

Oh yeah, Ovie's gonna stay at my house for a few days. Uncle and Aunt left him to my family to take care of him for a while because they went out of town to do business. It's a hassle, but because it's a mandate that has to be done so I have to accept it.

Like now, his request cannot be denied because it will have a bad impact on me too. He'll cry and complain to Auntie later. As long as you know, Ovie is a crybaby child even though he is in 8th grade Junior High.

“Yaudah, we watch it in the room only yes, use the laptop Brother.”

Ovie cheered excitedly at my reply, too excited he stepped first into the room. I just bobbed my head and then got up from the fur carpet, turned off the TV screen and followed my cousin.

Asus-branded white laptop has been placed on the mattress, position the body comfortably, and then open the Drakor watch website. Ovie's recommended film Death Bell is a horror genre.

“You sure you want to watch this? Later be afraid.”

“Quiet aja, Brother. Not serem-serem the movie, I can still watch.”

“Have that been.” I clicked on the video, the movie started.

About half an hour, when it got to the middle of the film, terrible scenes were presented one by one. The film tells the story of the terror that must be faced by 20 smart students at Chang-in High School. Selected students are known to have to take additional lessons held on summer holidays in preparation for entering college.

Various massacres sprinkled on every laptop screen, screaming voices from the cast as if making a film like real were experienced by them. I love movies like this and start to enjoy them.

Ovie who was next to me started to shut his eyes, screamed indistinctly and more loudly he even spun into my body when the brutal action occurred. I feel uncomfortable but can only resigned while still focusing on staring at the laptop screen.

After a few minutes, I saw Ovie was already sleepy, his body shrugged occasionally but forced himself to keep watching. I feel sorry for telling him to lie down first. He immediately widened the distance with me and lay in the corner of the bed. For a moment, his sleep was asleep.

The night was getting late, the atmosphere had also started to be quiet. Only the sound from my laptop was still noisy breaking the silence around.

I smiled when the movie ended, a pretty satisfying ending. My eyes glanced at the wall clock, the needle stood at 23.30 WIB, I closed my laptop and went to the bathroom to pee and brush my teeth.

After I finished rinsing, I chose to drink white for a bit. Suddenly, my eyes caught a black shadow standing behind the middle room window.

"Who's there?" There's no answer. I thought it might be a prankster who purposely pranked me, trying to check it out. Whether it was blown by the wind or what, the black shadow disappeared not long after.

My body felt goosebumps, the air also felt strange, as fast as lightning I returned to the room. Arriving at the doorway, from within, came the sound of someone shouting. I peeked, not unwilling to enter I just wanted to make sure first what happened.

In the corner, Ovie, still closed in his eyes, looked to be fighting - but there was no one. Throwing his hands into the air, thrashing like a possessed man.

I panicked and stepped closer. I shook her shoulders tight while calling her name out loud.

Flinched, with a face so pale, cold sweat drenched his temples. When I saw Ovie crying, he hugged me.

"Sister, I'm scared! there's a ghost, brother! Help me, I don't want to die!"

"ghosts? Where da ghost, brother was here there was no one."

Ovie released his embrace, his eyes scanning around. Right, there's no one just him and brother Ovie.

"But it was there, brother. I'm not lying. Please believe me." Her tears came back.

"Yaudah, tomorrow you tell me everything is the same big brother what happened. Now that you have to sleep, brother will also sleep."

...***...

Because of the incident last night, Ovie had a fever. I brought him a bowl of porridge and medicine.

"Sister, I want to tell you about last night."

"You're sick again, don't talk too much. Just rest, later if it's healed new story."

Ovie. He insisted on persuading me to let him tell a story. All right, if that's what he wants.

Ovie also recounted the incident he had experienced. There were two monstrous creatures chaperoning at his right-hand side. One was lying in a white cloth, the face was charred and the other was standing with a wrinkled face and one hollow eye while looking fixedly at Ovie.

The two harass Ovie in an inappropriate way. The broad-eyed creature stroked Ovie's face and covered Ovie's mouth, leaving him almost out of breath, and the other sleeping with Ovie, blowing his ears out with a stinging stench.

I get scared hearing this story. The fear was still clearly visible on Ovie's face. She cried for the second time. I hugged him to give him peace.

"Ovie, you've done that before, haven't you?"

"Never, brother. Just this time."

"Is there something you're doing or going where you're going until you've got to lose it?"

Ovie. This time I dare not look at you. After a few seconds, he spoke up.

"I've secretly picked up a white cake in Koh Ming's stall, brother."

"Ohh, why did you take someone's property carelessly. You will be the one affected by it yourself!"

"Sorry, Brother. The cake looks good. I can't stand it."

I let out a breath. "Yaudah, tomorrow we apologize to Koh Ming and tell him the truth."

Ovie nodded lethargicly.

The next day, at eight in the morning, we were already hanging out in front of Koh Ming's stall. Unlike yesterday who looked busy today he was sitting back, waiting for a buyer. We greeted him immediately.

"Hayya, you guys are excited this morning. What do you want to buy, kids?"

"Nothing, Koh. We'd like to apologize. Yesterday, Ovie accidentally picked up a white cake that Koh had placed on a small table in the corner."

"Yes, Koh. Ovie is sorry. Instead, Ovie wants to buy another cake."

Koh did not respond. Suddenly, Koh's face turned crumpled. His friendly smile faded, his eyes staring intently at us.

I'm afraid to face this myself. But, this might be the best, if not followed up, it could be that Ovie will repeat the same incident again later.

"Follow Koh, just a minute."

We followed where Koh went. Until arriving in a small room, with a little lighting.

"Koh, where are we?" my feelings are starting to get bad.

Just when Koh pulled something at the end of the room, my body instantly froze. Can't say anything, even my head can't think straight anymore.

Ovie beside me started crying, shaking, hugging my arms tightly.

The two creatures I can deduce are like Ovie's story. And naturally, Koh led them lightly like pets.

"I..ni, what's the sud, Koh?"

"Dira, Ovie. You guys already pissed off the two pets, Koh. By taking the white cake, their food. You have nothing to fear, Koh will not hand over your flesh to them, as long as you want to help Koh." Koh stroked the head of the wrinkle-faced creature.

I swallowed Saliva with great difficulty. "What should we do?"

Koh smiled wickedly. "You only need to serve them by feeding them three times a week also fulfilling their wishes. Take it easy, all their needs are Koh. If you refuse, the risk will be greater. They're gonna bother you and your family."

"Sir Dira, I'm afraid, brother."

"Calm down, Ovie. We have to face this." I walked closer to Koh. "Alright, Koh. As long as we survive, I will fulfill Koh's wish. But on one condition. Please give me how long we've been working with Koh."

"Three months. Just three months."

The deal was agreed by both sides.
