Chapter 08: Regression and Loss

A dazed Masahiko bids farewell to Butsuma, Hashirama and Mito's newlyweds, and Tobirama. Then he continued his journey back to the Uzumaki Clan alone.

“Follow and watch the development of the Flying Lightning God Technique. Well, in this case, I have to keep an eye on Tobirama. Or maybe, I should use Kagebunshin-no-Jutsu to witness things like this.

However, I do not know if I will receive witness points through my clone. This sounds crazy, but who knows, there may be some bugs in the system.” Masahiko muttered to himself along the way.

He was thinking is there any way to increase his witness points before the formation of Konoha?

The road was calm and serene, the wind was blowing slowly. And since he goes alone, his journey is faster than when he travels with the wedding team. He was now only five miles away from the Uzumaki residence.

As he got closer to the clan residence, the two guards at the gate saw him. They looked at each other, then they directly went inside to inform the Patriarch.

“What? I finally came back, and how did they welcome me? I mean, if they have to go to tell the Patriarch, one person is enough.” Masahiko said confusedly. He doesn't understand what's going on.

But he did not want to think too much about it and walked to the gate.

Even before he could reach the gate, patriarch Uzumaki came to the gate directly, which made Masahiko stop.

“Hey, do you really want to hear about your daughter? Well, I told you he was..” Before he finished his sentence, Masahiko noticed that the Patriarch's face was filled with sadness and looked a little gloomy.

“Hakubo is dead.” The patriarch barely took out these three words from his mouth.

“What?” Masahiko thought that he didn't hear it clearly, or he didn't want to believe what he heard.

“I said Hakubo is dead ..” Patriarch repeats again.

“Yes, this has been done by a madman from the Kaguya.” clan

Masahiko looked back at Hakubo's lifeless face. He remembers when Hakubo volunteered to join the wedding team and protect Mito.

Masahiko sighed and said, “The countries that fought this damn war!” Then he turned around and left the hall.

The patriarch was waiting for him outside the hall. Before Masahiko could say anything, the Patriarch said, “Yesterday I got a report of mysterious activity to the east of our village. Hakubo and his team accept the task, and go to investigate it.”

“When they arrived at the location, they identified a mysterious group in that place. It was the Kaguya.” clan

“Then I think you can think of the rest. Rescue came after that. Although the first elder was injured, they managed to defeat the Clan Chief Kaguya The patriarch slowly told Masahiko about the accident.

“I have two questions. Why did Clan Chief Kaguya attack my family? And the second one might be a little silly considering that now is the era of war, but, do we have a feud with the Kaguya clan? Is it because of Mito's wedding?” ask Masahiko.

“No, I suspect it's because of frozen bone grass.” The Patriarch replied.

“Oh I understand.” Masahiko replied faintly.

“And now we must pay for this injustice, and prepare for war ..” said the Patriarch.

“I know.” Masahiko replied, then he turned around and left.

Frozen bone grass, is an extremely rare light blue herb. Can suppress the disease of the descendants of the Kaguya clan. Masahiko knew that this herb was getting rarer, and would soon become extinct.

Otherwise, the number of the Kaguya clan would not decrease as it is now. They were one of the clans that existed in the warring states period, and were as strong as the Senju and the Uchiha.

If not for their illness and the ice bone grass that was getting rarer every day, the Kaguya clan might have been in the same league as the Senju and Uchiha clans.

“So, since they found the frozen bone grass in the Uzumaki region, their Clan Chief decided to lead the team to recover the plant.” Masahiko thought to himself.

“Hakubo died because of this, war is inevitable.” His murmur upon returning home.

“For half a month, I traveled, and when I came back, I was greeted with bad news. Now I am tired both physically and mentally.” Masahiko muttered.

In the past two weeks, Masahiko's strength had improved significantly, and even though he hadn't really practiced his Ninjutsu, his Elite Jonin status remained. Which makes him feel satisfied.

“I am still not strong enough to face the Kaguya clan. Not to mention in the near future, I might have to help Senju fight the Uchiha.” Masahiko thought about this while starting to meditate.

He was trying to find a way to become stronger. However, the only way to uphold justice in this world is power.

From witnessing the Tobirama Flying Lightning God Technique, Masahiko obtained 5 witness points. And with 1 point before, now he had 6 Points. He wondered how he could maximize his strength by distributing these points.

Thinking of this, he immediately added one to “Chakra”.

“Hey, why don't I feel the difference?” Masahiko felt nothing, so he added more.

This time, he felt a clear difference, namely the power of chakra, now felt two levels stronger than before. In other words, a Ninjutsu with the same chakra input could be two levels stronger than before.

Masahiko finds this excitement, and he throws the rest of his points into the Chakra.

Well, it seems like this way he might have a chance against the Kaguya Clan.

“It's a good decision. Now everyone will acknowledge me as a true Uzumaki.” Masahiko said in his heart.
