"ACL and your knee must be operated on immediately" said papa Dion in a disappointed tone.
Nathan let out a frustrated breath.
Nadine who had been accompanying her twin sister was only able to pat Nathan on the back just channeling strength to Nathan.
"Can't it be delayed, Pa? Nathan will have to participate in training with the youth team next month" Nathan protested in search of a gap.
Papa Dion shook his head as he opened his eyes to Nathan.
"Nathan's going to therapy and Nathan's sure it's going to heal without surgery, Pa!" Nathan's still stubborn.
"You want to stop playing basketball forever?" Ask Papa Dion who is still glancing at his son.
Nathan shook his head weakly.
"Just throw away your dream to participate in training with the national team. You have to rest for the next three months until your injury is completely healed!" Papa Dion pointed at Nathan.
"How many times have you reminded me to leave all your emotions and problems behind when it comes down on the court! Play with the professionals, Nathan! Never bring your personal problems to the court or during a match. Now you feel the consequences yourself!" Papa Dion's fawning seems to be starting to get emotional.
"Papa, that's enough!" Sergey Nadine fast.
Nadine seemed to not accept when the father scolded his twin brother like now.
Nathan was still downcast and felt increasingly guilty.
"Father hope this is the last time you bring your useless emotions to the court. Hope you can learn a lesson from this, Nathan!" Papa Dion warned.
"Your good skill will not be useful if your attitude on the field is still bad" added Dion papa again.
"Yes, Papa. Nathan understands," Nathan said.
Nadine patted the back of her twin sister.
Nathan covered his face with both hands. That guilt and regret filled his chest again.
Suppose that...
Flashback one year ago,
Nathan walked casually towards the gym. As planned, Nathan and the rest of the team will have a meeting to discuss some things about strategy and anything that needs improvement from the school basketball team.
Nathan had just arrived in front of the gym, when he heard brief conversations from some of his team members who had arrived. Chris is also inside.
The door of the room was half open, allowing Nathan to see a little who was talking about him that afternoon.
"It's funny, Nathan whose basketball skills are ordinary can enter a basketball club as big as Putra Garuda."
Chris chuckles, though,
"I don't feel like I'm getting into that club yet" said Chris, who was still chuckling.
"Skill you're clearly on top of Nathan, Chris! It's obvious there's an inside game,"
"I don't understand. You mean Nathan bribed the club manager, right?" Chris had a serious face.
"Coach Dion at Putra Garuda's club, that's Nathan's bokapnya,"
"Seriously?" Chris was surprised to not believe it.
"Kok I just found out. Haha. Coach Dion is a frequent attendee at our school games. I think he really wants to find new seeds for his club. It turned out to be just follow his son," added Chris again a little chuckle.
The two team members who spoke to Chris chuckled.
Nathan, who was still standing in front of the entrance, clenched his hands to hold back the emotion that suddenly erupted in his chest. The young man's face was already red withstanding emotions.
"Papa I am the coach at Putra Garuda club. But I also took the tests and stages like any other player before being accepted into the club!" Nathan shouted loudly as he kicked through the door of the gym.
Chris and two colleagues who were talking about Nathan were immediately surprised. All three instantly silent a thousand languages.
"And for you, Chris! If you think your basketball skills are better than mine," Nathan pointed to Christian.
"I challenge you to make one on one on the field now!" Nathan continued with a sharp look towards Christian.
Chris smiled as he raised both hands,
"I never said my basketball skills were above yours, Nathan!" Deny Chris fast.
Chris was completely unwilling to look for trouble with this emotional young man before him.
"No need to deny, Chris! I've heard it all." Nathan walks into the room and picks up a basketball from the top of the shelf.
"I'm waiting in the field, Chris! Don't be a coward!" Sindir Nathan left the room.
Christian was just about to scold two colleagues who had invited him to berghibah, but the two people were no longer visible stem of his nose.
Damnit damnit!
Are they running away now?
Chris took off his uniform and now leaves only a short-sleeved shirt. Maybe Chris will take a challenge from Nathan. But Chris really did not want to make this all protracted.
After a one-on-one match with Nathan, Chris will apologize and reconcile with the captain of the basketball team. Although in his heart Chris felt bad for the emotional young man.
****
Chris walked a little hastily towards the field. His right shoulder holds the bag and his left hand holds an orange basketball.
Upon arriving at the school basketball court, Chris was quite surprised. There were already many students present to watch the one on one match between Christian and Nathan.
Did Nathan do it?
Why is the young man so underworked.
But when sweeping his gaze to the side of the basketball court, Chris could see two people who had been berghibah with him in the sports room, now standing on the edge of the field with other students.
The two men were busy with their phones.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Chris shouldn't have to talk or deal with those two jerk students.
It must be those who have spread the news about this match to all schools.
Now Chris will suffer the consequences.
Nathan who now only wears a plain white shirt is warming up in the middle of the field. The young man glanced briefly at Chris before returning to continue his warm-up.
Chris chose to warm up on the other side of the field, after throwing his bag carelessly to the edge of the field.
Cheers from the students watching the live match echoed throughout the school grounds. The majority of those present were female students who always screamed more when the men's basketball team played or practiced basketball on a court like this.
Have they never seen a handsome guy play basketball?
Basic tacky!
A student Chris knew was the head of OSIS at this school, will be the referee this afternoon.
Isn't this fair?
Priiiit, price,
The whistle has sounded
Chris and Nathan immediately fight each other for the ball and hit each other.
The two best basketball players in the school use the maximum skill they have.
Chris is nimble and agile, and Nathan the spin master who several times managed to outwit Chris with the twisting motion.
Chris' three-point shot this afternoon just missed. Unlike Nathan who seems to be on fire. Nathan continued to score points despite shooting from all positions.
Now Chris feels regret for underestimating the ability of a Nathan. This young man really has an amazing ability to play basketball.
Christian's score was already far behind Nathan's.
The cheers from the students who were watching were endless. They chanted Chris and Nathan.
Until finally the OSIS chairman blew a long whistle as the end of the game.
Christian's score was only half of Nathan's score.
Chris slid his tired body on the floor of the basketball court. It was a really exhausting match.
The students have dispersed.
Now only Chris and Nathan are left on the basketball court.
The sky has revealed its orange. The night signs are coming soon.
"I never doubted your basketball skills, Nathan! You just misunderstood me in the gym," Chris tried to explain once more to Nathan.
But the captain of the basketball team just smiled mockingly at Chris,
"Rumors have already spread, Chris. Tomorrow morning the whole school will start talking about Nathan entering a professional basketball club because of his big name," Nathan smiled wryly.
"Fuck the rumors. You can ignore it, Nathan! This afternoon, you've proven to everyone that you do have good basketball skills" Chris quickly responded with a hint of emotion.
The young man is now sitting in the middle of the field straightening his legs.
Chris was still trying to gather the remnants of his energy before leaving this school.
Nathan still smiled wryly, though,
"Unfortunately it's not easy to do. A rumor that has already spread in this school will continue to be hot news until there are other rumors that cover it." Nathan moved from his seat
The young man's face was still filled with sweat. Nathan snatched his bag behind the basketball pole.
The young man left the basketball court without saying goodbye to Christian.
You arrogant captain!
Christian himself had just left school when the sky had turned black.
To hell with all the rumors that are going to spread in school tomorrow.
