The four eyes were unshaken for more than a minute. Raize channeled all the longing she could only express through her eyes, while Kayla was wondering in her heart what she should do when she saw her past had returned.
"Ekhem!" dehem that little boy Kayla just injected. The girl made the gazes of Kayla and Raize unfold.
"Yes, yeah, Sus. My hands hurt," sobbed the little one with a still flushed look. But his lips imprinted a rancid smile as he realized there was something between Raize and Kayla after seeing the way they stared at each other.
Kayla tidied up her tools. His movements turned extremely clumsy after Raize's arrival to this room. Especially when the man was getting closer to the gurney to check the state of the little boy who had just laughed at them.
Kayla had walked out of there, more precisely intending to escape, after all her work was done, but Raize called her name with the name of a nun instead of Kayla, instead of Kayla, it made Kayla gulp and was forced to look back.
"Wait a minute. Can I borrow the stethoscope?" Raize glanced at the stethoscope around Kayla's neck.
Without looking at Raize, Kayla gave the stethoscope away. Letting Raize use it to check on the little girl. While he was forced to wait on the side of the gurney with his body sculpted.
Kayla knew through the smile on Raize's lips that had been imprinted since. The man was not only displaying a friendly expression to his patient, but was happy to finally meet him again. Kayla was eager to respond to that happy smile with a longing expression in her deepest heart. But she recalled that she already had a legitimate husband, who made her sincerely wear the hijab despite her work.
The door was opened by someone. He is one of the doctors. Both Kayla and Raize looked over there.
"Doctor Raize, there are accident patients to deal with."
Kayla and Raize looked at each other.
Raize told his little patient to rest while he immediately rushed over. "Come Kayla!" said Raize. For the first time Kayla heard her name called by the typical male voice again. But this is not the right time to indulge his feelings, he must move professionally as a nurse who helps doctors in handling patients.
Everything went well. Kayla is a professional. He was several times near Raize while handling the accident patient. But he docus worked and did not include his supposed thrashing feelings.
Raize is the same. She knew it was very difficult not to say hello to Kayla again under these circumstances, or perhaps to smile to hide her happiness. He handled his patients well. It made other doctors who took care of the patient praise him. From here Raize could see Kayla's sincere smile on her.
The patient was wrapped in bandages. Clean from blood. His wounds have been stitched. Several medical devices have been installed to support his vital organs. All because of the hard work of Raize, Kayla, and some other doctors. They could all smile calmly despite still being quite anxious to see the patient's family reaction once they explained the state of this teenage patient.
As soon as Raize walked out of the room, he was immediately scatted by the patient's family. This was the moment Raize disliked the most, but when he saw Kayla still waiting behind him to accompany him, Raize felt more enthusiastic.
"There are some deep wounds we've dealt with. The patient is in critical condition for the next few hours. Have patience, Mom!" Raize patted the shoulder of the woman as the mother of the patient.
The woman with eyes on her face cried again. Kayla calmed him down with a calm smile. Then they left the room through the corridor.
Raize had plenty of opportunities to talk to Kayla because they were just the two of them in this deserted corridor. Their professional attitude has gone away. Raize again showed a happy expression on his face, like a few hours ago before there was an emergency patient accident.
"How are you, Kayla?" raize's question made Kayla look over at a glance.
"I don't think you know me because I wear the hijab now" Kayla said.
Raize shook his head little. "I'm glad to see you're wearing a hijab. You're getting more beautiful."
Raize stopped in the middle of the corridor, stopping Kayla. "You are always beautiful, whether you wear a hijab or not. You're still the old Kayla, who loves kids."
Kayla's smile was already unbearable.
"When you found out you were working here, I tried to find you everywhere."
"Since when is nugas here?"
"Since four days ago and all that time I've been looking for you."
Kayla smiles. He remembered for the last four days he was also more of a Raize mind than usual. Even Raize's face was dreamy. He had absolutely no idea anything was going to happen through those signs. It turned out that not long after that he met Raize in the real world.
"I'm happy to see you back in Indonesia" Kayla said breaking the silence between herself and Raize as well as the quiet corridor.
"How are you doing?"
Kayla nodded. Glanced at his own body with a calm smile. "Still ordinary. How are you?"
Raize looked at Kayla's look once again. "You're more beautiful, and I agree."
Kayla closed her little laugh with a palm. "You're in good health, aren't you?"
Raize nodded. "I don't think after seeing his mother crying because of his son's accident."
"Yes, that's the consequence of working in a hospital. Everyone must feel that. Yesterday I also treated a child who had cancer. The night had made a lot of hopes, but the next morning he died. All day I thought it was not good to eat. Can't imagine what it's like to be the kid's parents."
Raize raised next to his eyebrows. "Do you want to go together?"
Kayla is confused. Why was he suddenly invited to walk together in this kind of atmosphere?
"I mean .. we can walk together to the next patient's room. Not the way out."
Kayla shrieks softly when she feels her expectations are too high - thinking Raize wants to take her out for a walk like a couple like they did back then. "Can, come."
The two walked through the deserted corridor. Because the elevator was full, they used the emergency stairs to get to the lower floor. It turned out that it was useful to increase their time together. Raize and Kayla can talk more about their memories in the past, making them sometimes laugh a little or stare in annoyance.
Kayla did not expect at all, she could feel real happiness together with others when she herself was married and was trying to accept her husband as her soul mate. Seeing Raize by her side again made Kayla again question her feelings.
The two parted in the corridor to head to their respective patient rooms without a single one of them lowering the intensity of the happy smile.
