the Istikharah prayer is the sunnah and is highly recommended, on all matters or matters having some choice. This is based on a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, in the history of Jabir Ibn Abdillah ra. That the Prophet Muhammad said:

اذا هم أحد كم بالأمر فليركع ركعتين ثم ليقل: أللهم... (رواه البخاري)

Meaning: If among you want to do things/deals, then rukukuklah (sholat) two rakaat, then pray.(.HR. Bukhari)

After performing the two rakaat prayers, Gibran looked up his hands to pray to the almighty, to be guided.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْتَخِيْرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ، وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْفَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيْمِ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلاَ أَقْدِرُ، وَتَعْلَمُ وَلاَ أَعْلَمُ، وَأَنْتَعَلاَّمُ الْغُيُوْبِ. اَللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا اْلأَمْرَ -وَيُسَمَّىحَاجَتَهُ- خَيْرٌ لِيْ فِيْ دِيْنِيْ وَمَعَاشِيْ وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِيْ فَاقْدُرْهُلِيْ وَيَسِّرْهُ لِيْ ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِيْ فِيْهِ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا اْلأَمْرَشَرٌّ لِيْ فِيْ دِيْنِيْ وَمَعَاشِيْ وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِيْ فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّيْوَاصْرِفْنِيْ عَنْهُ وَاقْدُرْ لِيَ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ أَرْضِنِيْ بِهِ

it means: "O Allah, I ask You for the right choice, with Your knowledge, and I ask Your power (to overcome my problems) with Your Mastery. I ask You for something of Your Greatest Grace, verily You are All-Powerful, while I am powerless, You know, I know not, and You are All-Knowing of the Unseen. O God, if You know that this affair is better in my religion, and the consequences for me succeed for me, ease the way, then give blessings. But if You know that this question is more dangerous to me in religion, economy and its consequences to me, then get rid of it, and keep me away from it, do not foredo good for me wherever it may be, and give it to me."

Gibran was very solemn in praying his two rakaat as well as praying, after performing the prayer, Gibran moved from his place, folded his alphabet and released his ice, after finishing Gibran towards the bed, his eyes felt heavy, probably because he had not slept at all.

Eventually, Gibran fell asleep in his sleep.

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِيْ أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُوْرِ

Alhamdullillahilladzi ahyaanaa ba'da maa amaatanaa wa ilaihin
