Shaykh Al Albani said it is recommended for both (husband wife) to perform the prayers of two raka’at together, because this was once inscribed from salaf. There are two atsars:

First, From Abu Sa’aid a former slave of Abu Usaid, he said,

I got married in a state I was still a slave, so I invited on my wedding day a number of companions of the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam including Ibn Mas’ud, Abu Dhar and Hudzaifah. Abu Sa’id said: the companions of radhiyallahu ‘anhum informed me and they said,

إذا أدخل عليك أهلك فصل عليك ركعتين ، ثم سل الله تعالى من خير ما دخل عليك ، وتعوذ به من شره ، ثم شأنك وشأن أهلك

“If you go in to see your wife, pray two Raka’at, then ask Allah for the goodness that is entered into you, take refuge in Allah from his ugliness, then afterwards it is up to your business and your wife.” (CHR. Ibn Abu Syuaibah in Al Mushannaf, 3/401. And ‘Abdurrazaq in Al-Mushannaf, 6/191. Shaykh Al Albani rahimahullahu commented on the sanadnya shahih to Abu Sa’id and he covered the periwayatan).

Second, from Syaqiq he recounted, there was a man came to ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud, his name Abu Jarir, he complained, ‘I married a young girl who is still a virgin, he said, I'm afraid in the end he'll hate me.’ Then ‘Abdullah gave advice,

إن الإلف من الله ، والفرك من الشيطان ، يريد أن يكره إليكم ما أحل الله لكم ، فإذا أتتك فمرها أن تصلي وراءك ركعتين

“Verily, harmony comes from God and hate comes from Satan. Satan wants to make you hate what God hates for you. Therefore, if your wife comes to you then order her to pray two raka’at behind you.” (Adab Az Zifaaf, pp. 94-98).

يروى في ذلك بعض الآثار عن بعض الصحابة صلاة ركعتين قبل الدخول ولكن ليس فيها خبر يعتمد عليه من جهة الصحة، فإذا صلى ركعتين كما فعل بعض السلف فلا بأس وإن لم يفعل فلا بأس، والأمر في هذا واسع، ولا أعلم في هذا سنةً صحيحة يعتمد عليها.

Sheikh bin Baz rahimullahu was once asked about this matter. Shaykh bin Baz rahimullahu said, shalat sunnah two raka’at before having intercourse was once narrated by some of the atsar of some of the companions but there is no news (hadits Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) that can be accounted for his keshahihannya. If someone performs the two raka’at prayer as has been done by some salaf scholars then it is not okay, and not doing it is also okay.
