Until finally Allah sent down the above verse. Then they no longer called him Zaid bin Muhammad but Zaid bin Harithah. As Ibn Umar said,


ما كنا ندعو زيد بن حارثة إلا زيد بن محمد حتى نزلت: ” ادعوهم لآبائهم “

The order of the relatives of the father who is entitled to become a guardian of marriage, explained Al-Buhuti following,


ويقدم أبو المرأة الحرة في إنكاحها لأنه أكمل نظرا وأشد شفقة ثم وصيه فيه أي في النكاح لقيامه مقامه ثم جدها لأب وإن علا الأقرب فالأقرب لأن له إيلادا وتعصيبا فأشبه الأب ثم ابنها ثم بنوه وإن نزلوا الأقرب فالأقرب

Al-Buhuti said,


وإن زوج الأبعد أو زوج أجنبي ولو حاكما من غير عذر للأقرب لم يصح النكاح لعدم الولاية من العاقد عليها مع وجود مستحقها


If a more distant guardian marries him, or another person becomes his guardian, even though he is a judge (officer of the KUA), while there is no permission from a closer guardian then his marriage is invalid, because it is not a guardianship during the process of agreement, while people who are more entitled (to be a guardian) still exist.” (Ar-Raudhul Murbi’, 1/10)
