Chapter 16

     The ice cream meal with Rico was canceled. Dodi complains that his body is cape-cape after the match. He asked me to accompany him to the big mango sauna. Feeling bad, I proposed that Rico could come along, but Dodi wouldn't. He told me to go with Dodi or Rico.

    I finally decided to join Dodi.

    With a shunt, I approached Rico and said an apology.

     "It's okay. 'And there's still tomorrow" he said, stroking my hair. Reflexes I avoid, embarrassed to know I have not shampooed because of it.

     Rico was a little surprised to see me avoiding his touch.

     "Sorry, Rico. Dinda's hair hasn't been shampooed in two days. So oil it for sure. Rico's hand stinks, "I said with a clumsy smile.

     Rico felt relieved after hearing my explanation. "May I ask you something?"

     "Here you go, just ask."

     "You and Dodi, dating?"

     I should have denied it but somehow I did.

     Rico seemed very disappointed to hear my honesty.

     "I'm sorry, if you're disappointed. Frankly Dodi and I are already tied up in a dating relationship from our little one. But I've never been in love."

     "I'd love to be in love, which is why I asked Dodi for permission to feel how to fall in love."

     "So why are you dating if you're not in love, Din. That's wrong."

     "I also felt it was wrong, which is why I always asked Dodi to break up, but she didn't want to. Because our relationship was so long ago, I came to understand how she felt about me, so I just asked her permission so I could feel how to fall in love with her."

     "Friend."

     "Well, usually. If you are that friend, you cannot date. If the courtship, especially like we gini, I love you, you love me. Now that's true, if we're in a relationship more than friends."

     I scratched my scalp which suddenly felt itchy. I don't know what Rico said to me. It felt like his words, like the buzzing of a bee that felt annoying.

     "Do you know, Din?"

     "Dinda doesn't know. But clearly Dinda can't have two girlfriends, sin."

     Rico was eager to hug the innocent Dinda. But he held back. "Dinda's boyfriend is just one, Rico. Dinda has to break up with Dodi. Because Dinda doesn't love Dodi."

     Rico wants to squeeze his hair because he hasn't convinced Dinda.
