Chapter 21
After class, Yvette Jordan walked out of the classroom with a cold expression on her face.
The whole class breathed a sigh of relief. Yvette was inexplicably unfriendly and loud today during class, so it was really torturous for them. Maybe he's angry at something.
Finally, everyone could relax and subconsciously their gazes fell on Chuck Cannon's new look once again. Even though Chuck was wearing imitation clothing, it still made no sense since he had just found twenty thousand dollars. That small amount was not enough for her expensive clothes.
They are confused, but when they see Chuck being the focus of the class, many male students are jealous.
"Wow! Lara, why are you taking such sexy selfies?" A student was surprised. Lara Jean glared at him. She was preparing to send a photo to the baller, so the picture had to be sexy to attract her attention. But he didn't expect it to be seen by his desk mates.
"What's wrong with sending this to my girlfriend?" Laras's upset. He picked up his bag and walked out of class while sending the photo. His deskmate could only mock him.
Meanwhile, Chuck, who had already silenced his phone, received a photo from someone. She took it out and checked, it was indeed a sexy photo of Lara. He even sent her a message saying that her class had ended, and she wanted to invite him to board a steamboat or something.
He shook his head in disagreement. Is Lara's head just full of thoughts of connecting with rich men and nothing else?
At the same time, she also received an SMS from Charlotte Yales, who told her that her car had been repaired and she was able to pick it up after she was free. Chuck was a little surprised by the efficiency of his service.
He stood up with a big smile on his face. Since his class had ended for the day, he could take his car back now.
"Where are you going, Cak?" Queenie Carson's face flushed for the entire class. For the first time, he felt somewhat nervous while talking to her.
"I'm home now." Chuck couldn't have told him he'd get his car.
"Okay, be careful on the road. I'm going to go to work part-time now" Queenie said as she picked up her backpack.
"By the way, where's your part time job? I'll visit you when I'm free."
"What's? No, you can't." Queenie shook her head angrily. The restaurant where she works part-time is a fancy restaurant. He doesn't want to see Chuck spend unnecessary things on this and besides, he also wants to keep his workplace a secret from Chuck.
"I can't talk right now, I'm leaving first!" He quickly tried to leave. However, a thought formed in his mind and he suddenly turned around, a serious tone forming in his mind. "Chuck, the car owner hasn't called me yet."
Chuck didn't know whether to laugh or cry at his words, Queenie was too persistent. He could only say, "The car owner probably doesn't want to trouble you, so don't worry."
"Yes, but as long as she calls me, I'll make sure to fulfill my responsibilities," Queenie said and waved to her, "See you tomorrow."
"Well, I'll see you tomorrow." Chuck smiles.
Chuck is out of class, his phone is ringing constantly with all the WeChat messages from Lara. He kept bombarding her with silly questions, like what he was doing, whether he was bored and more. She keeps asking him out but Chuck doesn't want to entertain her, so he just tells her he's busy.
Moments later, Lara replies with some sad face emojis.
Chuck was determined to end this conversation, but as soon as he put the phone in his pocket, the phone rang again. Slightly annoyed, Chuck sees her and is shocked by the caller's name. It's from Zelda Maine. They exchanged numbers yesterday. But why did he call her?
Chuck hesitates for a moment and answers the phone, calling her as Sister Zelda immediately the phone is connected.
Zelda's voice could be heard from the phone. "Well, are you in school?"
"Yes, I was just going home" Chuck said.
"I happen to be around the university and I want to check if it's the university you're attending? What's your university's name?"
"College design."
"What a coincidence. Wait a minute, I want to tell you something."
"okay." Chuck was shocked by the turn of events after he ended the call. He shook his head and walked to the school gate. However, Yvette was busy picking things up from the floor in the parking lot. He seemed to be dropping those items as his hands were full.
Chuck hesitated for a moment and then went to help. He lowered himself and started picking up his things.
"You don't have to help me!"
Yvette looked at Chuck coldly. He had no choice but to pick up his things quickly, and turn around to leave. He doesn't want to embarrass himself.
Yvette's anger boiled over as she watched him leave. "Hi!"
"What's wrong?" Chuck turned around confused.
"I'm sorry." Chuck was embarrassed. He thought he was quiet enough.
"Remember, the test is not far away. You must attend every class. Do you think the fact that you know Zelda gives you the right to skip class?" Yvette commented coldly.
Chuck sighed. There were actually some things he needed to get done lately, which was why he did not attend class. He also did not manage to clean the house he bought from Yvette. He planned to clean it up immediately and rent it out as soon as possible. But he doesn't have time.
Seeing Chuck speechless and not replying to him, Yvette frowned and her brows furrowed deeper, "There's nothing wrong with knowing Zelda, but you should be worthy of friendship, only then will he see value in the relationship. If you are not capable enough, nothing will turn out alright? If you don't study hard, how can you expect to be a better person?"
"You're right." Chuck nodded. Yvette's right. If he was not worthy enough, even if someone wanted to help him, he would not be able to return what he had before. But things were different now, he did have the ability now!
Yvette's expression softened.
"Wives.... Yvette, what's the situation with your company right now?" Chuck tried to change the topic in a hurry.
Yvette glanced at Chuck but he did not say anything as he had no intention of talking about this. Recently, he had gone to a trading company to look for customers. This was amazing for him, so he decided to invest the money he made from the sale of his home and hired some good mentors to handle the company's promotions and public relations.
"Do you need help?" ask Chuck carefully.
"No." Yvette shook her head and said, "Please take care of your own business. I don't think you can afford these expensive clothes, can you? Did Zelda buy it for you?"
Chuck remained silent. Why would Zelda buy her clothes? They haven't known each other for two days. Her clothes cost ten thousand dollars.
"No, I bought it myself," replied Chuck.
"Oh, not bad." This was the first time Yvette had praised him. He had no doubt that these were imitation items, but they did look genuine.
"Do you want me to send you?" Yvette asked as she opened her car door and stuffed her things in.
"It's okay. I have ...."
"You have money to take a cab, right?" Yvette shook her head in disappointment. Does knowing Zelda make him arrogant? He could not help but frown.
"Well, sort of." Chuck said with a wry smile.
Yvette decided to stop talking. If Chuck has money, he should save instead of spending carelessly, or where is the way to pay others when they lend a helping hand?
He got into the car and was about to leave when he saw a luxury car was about to enter the complex. He was stunned because he saw the person in the car waving towards Chuck, "Hey, this…."
Yvette said to herself with a surprised look on her face, "So someone will come to pick her up?"
"I have to go now" Chuck said, but Yvette just stared at him without hearing what he said. Chuck could do nothing but continue walking towards Zelda, whose eyes sparkled upon seeing her new appearance. Not bad, he never imagined that Chuck could be like that!
This is how a rich kid should look! He was more charismatic than any other rich young man he had ever seen. Zelda couldn't help but stare at him for longer, asking, "Why are you dressing up today?"
"Didn't Sister Zelda call me? I'm dressing up for you" Chuck joked.
"Sweet words!" Zelda laughed while shaking her head. He looked around and could not find Chuck's car. Surprised, he asked, "Where is your car?"
"It was sent to the store."
"Get in the car then. There's something I want to tell you" Zelda said. Chuck was confused but kept getting into the car. As soon as he opened the car door and entered, he could smell the fragrant scent of Zelda's car, which was indeed pleasant and soothing.
Zelda looked at Yvette by chance and was curious. "So he's a teacher."
"Well, he's got a company, too."
"That's pretty good." Zelda opens her car door and steps out, surprising Chuck. "Sister Zelda, what are you doing?"
"I have something to talk to him about." Zelda walked towards Yvette who was about to enter her car. He paused on his sudden appearance and asked in a surprised tone, "Maine director, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing. I just wanted to ask you something." Zelda smiled politely.
Yvette nodded, "OK, please."
In the car, Chuck was very agitated. Zelda wasn't going to tell him about what she wanted to know since last night, was she? Right at this moment, his phone rang again in his pocket, and Chuck immediately picked up the call without checking who it was. She was shocked after hearing her mother's voice from the phone. "Chucky, your mother's coming back!"
