Chapter 17

Hearing Yvette Jordan's question, Zelda Maine rolled her eyes and looked at Chuck Cannon calmly. He found her a little nervous and confused.

Why is he nervous? He drives a car worth over two million dollars, does he still want to keep a low profile?

Despite knowing, he helped her cover up. "I can't answer it. After all, this man was a good man. I'll definitely be friends with him."

Chuck breathed a sigh of relief.

Yvette glanced at Chuck by accident. He had known her for many years, but he never felt she was good. However, her composure today had completely shocked Yvette. Maybe he really changed.

"Why don't you pay attention to this guy?" Zelda asked curiously.

Yvette shook her head and walked out without saying a word.

Zelda thought of something and immediately called out, "Miss, my staff said that you have been waiting for someone for a long time. You better ask him if he's coming. It's not a good idea to keep waiting like this. ."

Yvette stopped and said, "I'll wait!"

After that, he came out. Lara Jean and Conrad Lee are confused. Who is their teacher waiting for?

Yvette sat down again and pulled out her phone. Seeing that Baller did not reply to his message on WeChat, his face darkened. He just wanted to treat her to a meal as a thank you. Why didn't he show up? Why don't you reply me?

……..

Zelda shook her head slightly. She knew that Yvette was dressing up on purpose. Is it a date? Did the man miss the appointment?

He rolled his eyes and suddenly realized that Chuck was acting strangely, his eyes fixated on the figure of the woman who had just left. Was that woman just waiting for him?

Zelda raised an eyebrow at Chuck full of question marks. Chuck coughed and his expression returned to normal. Zelda's lips twitched as she realized the truth. He was really waiting for her, but why didn't he go see her?

"Do you have anything else to say?" Zelda asked Lara Jean.

"Is he really your friend?" ask Lara carefully. How could Chuck be friends with someone so amazing? He's really envious.

"Yes." Yeah." Zelda said seriously.

Chuck feels weird. He was completely shocked that Zelda would enter, even defending him. After all, the two of them had only met when he parked the car. Their meeting could only be classified as a short moment, they couldn't possibly be friends like this.

"Since I'm his friend, can you give me the VIP title?" Lara asked expectantly. If he had the VIP title of Modern Restaurant, it would be very noble for him at university.

"You're his friend?" Zelda asked cynically. "You're his friend, and yet you just mocked him?"

"It's not sarcasm at all if it's true. I mean, look at her clothes, you can tell that she's a waitress", Lara's not satisfied.

"Servant?" Zelda is amused by Lara's absurd logic. A man who drives a car over two million dollars is a waitress? What is this woman thinking?

"Although she is not a servant here, she can also be a servant elsewhere as well! He's just lucky to have met a friend like you, otherwise, how could he have a VIP title here?" Lara continues to attack Chuck mercilessly.

“Nona, did you know that she was driving ...” Zelda couldn't bear to listen any longer and began to say. He stopped suddenly as Chuck rushed over and gestured for him to stop.

"What is he driving?" Lara asked in a dismissive tone.

Zelda shook her head and said it was okay. Lara continued to plead shamelessly, "Can't you give me a VIP title?"

"No!" Zelda refused.

"Don't pretend. Since you can give a VIP title to someone like him, why can't you give it to me? I won't be coming to your restaurant again! What's so great about that?" Lara snorted in annoyance and dragged Conrad out of the room.

Zelda's eyes knit strongly as her tone suddenly dropped. "What did you say?"

"I said that because a person like him has a VIP title, why can't I have one? Am I not a hundred times better than him?" Lara is stubborn.

"Your mouth is a hundred times worse than hers, isn't it?" said Zella.

"You…." Angry barrel. Is he trying to say that he has a foul mouth?

Conrad quietly nudged Lara.

"Stop pulling me." Lara said in a condescending tone, "I must be right!"

"Enough, Barrel!" chuck said coldly. He didn't want to pay attention to it now, but he actually had the courage to mess with the boss?

Zelda raised her hand and slapped Lara. "Why are you like baw*ch?"

Chuck's dumbfounded. This woman...really vicious!

Lara's been pampered since childhood, never been beaten, let alone slapped. The pain he felt on his face caused embarrassment within him and he yelled wrongly, "Why did you hit me?"

"Because you b*ch!" Zelda's appearance was as cold as the ice queen. For a moment, his attitude as the boss had crushed Lara's pity and superiority to the ground.

"Conrad, did you see that? He hit me, he hit me. Come on, hit him!" Lara grabbed Conrad's hand and pouted.

"Lara, let's go." Conrad tried to pull Lara. His father's small company relied on big bosses like Zelda. He would never have the guts to offend her.

"What do you mean 'go'? Didn't you see your poor boyfriend slapped? Why are you so shy? Help me get back!" Lara was so angry that she was angry at Conrad.

"Are you going or not?" Conrad glared at Lara.

"No!" Lara immediately sat down in an attempt to make Conrad stay.

"Who asked you to be so annoying? He is a big boss, how dare you talk about him like that? Do you want to destroy your father's business? Be careful, he will definitely take revenge on you" Conrad said viciously.

"I'm not leaving!"

"Okay, I'll go if you don't!" Conrad loosened his grip and walked out after apologizing to Zelda. He didn't want to offend her. If this continues, her father's company will be threatened if Zelda keeps an eye on her.

Baras. He didn't expect Conrad to actually leave. The great shame made Lara cry. "Conrad, you're useless! Breakup, breakup!"

After clearing her mind, Lara stood up and also realized that Conrad's words made sense. The boss of Modern Restaurants should be rich. He must have millions of assets, and Lara's family couldn't provoke him. What if he spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to find someone to deal with? After all, he had heard such news before.

The more he thought about it, the more scared he became. Tears flowed down her cheeks and she shouted to Zelda, "Sorry, forgive me ...."

"I'm pretty sure you're looking for hell!" Zelda's eyes were as cold as the depths of Antarctica, and gazed deep into Lara's soul. This was the kind of gaze filled with the strength of someone who had survived in the cruel business world, which made Lara cry even harder.

"Sorry, I just so ******. It's all my fault, please don't come after me…."

Seeing Zelda's cold expression, Lara walked up to Chuck to beg, "Chuck, you're her friend. Can you speak for me? I know I was wrong, I'm really sorry."

Chuck doesn't want to deal with this. After all, Zelda was an extremely powerful boss with a frightening temperament and limited fuses. Lara was lucky because Zelda didn't take out her phone to call someone.

"Chuck, say something. Anyway, I'm your classmate. Please help me", Lara pulled Chuck's sleeve.

"You're just taking revenge on me. You can only say a word but no!" Lara started making a fuss.

Chuck had no choice but to ignore him. He had already met Yvette and his goal was achieved. He can pay the bills and come back. He said, "Thank you, Director of Maine."

"Call me Zella." Zelda's expression softened.

"It's inappropriate, isn't it?" Chuck hurriedly shook his head. He was a boss with status, so it was obviously inappropriate to call him in person. He could only ask, "Why didn't I call you Sister Zelda?"

"It's okay!" Zella smiles.

Lara looked at him and rushed over, "Sorry, Director of Maine, sorry..."

Zelda's expression immediately darkened. If she had followed her emotions earlier, Lara would have already been sent to the hospital. How dare he tell her this! If her father heard this, Lara would be much more miserable!

"Chuck, please give me some kind words, okay?"

Lara grabs Chuck's hand, but he just shakes his head. This is not something he can say. He just wants to laugh. How can he help?

As Zelda's expression continued to darken like a rain cloud, Lara's heart sank. He gritted his teeth and pleaded, "Chuck, why are you a jerk? Do you really want me to beg you with tears? Well, if you say a good word to me, I'll go with you tonight. Is this enough?"
