MMORPG; The Ring of the Almighty
Chapter 4: leveling hack!

“Eh? Something is wrong!”

As Jiang Fei moved some items from his character's inventory, he discovered that some items in the ring stock were missing.

“Hmm? Did I lose them somewhere?”

Jiang Fei raised the ring into his eyes. At that moment, he heard a small bell ringing.

“Ding!”

The bells were so soft that one could easily miss them. When the bell rang, a piece of Delicious Rabbit Meat disappeared from his eyes.

"What the fuck is this"

Jiang Fei flinched. Did the ring really weigh him down?!

He took a closer look than ever, finally uncovering a new secret from the ring. On the surface, the ring seems to come with 36 slots, but they work very differently from the inventory of ordinary characters. It appears to come in two halves, top and bottom. The top of the inventory ring has a very dim blue color in the background, while the bottom has a dim red color. If he doesn't notice, he'll never see it.

This newly revealed secret is the fact that any item placed in the red section of the ring inventory will eventually "disappear," after every 10 minutes or so. It wasn't fixed. Each time an item is "consumed," a crack-like mark will appear in the ring. It was just a sign, not an actual indication of damage to the ring. The scar grew as the ring consumed more items. After two hours, the scar grew for so long that it almost formed a full circle.

“Ding!”

As the last item disappeared with the sound of a bell, the "crack-like" mark had formed a full circle on the surface of the ring.

“Woosh!”

A bright light flashed, and the scar on the ring disappeared, leaving the silver surface flawless, as if it had just been made from refining.

“What happened..?”

Jiang Fei tilted his head.

“Hah! Whatisthis? Bonus attribute!”

Other than the 36 slots provided by that mysterious ring, there was something a little extra! Luck +10!

Luck is a hidden attribute in the game. Players called it that way, as it could not be measured or seen in their Attribute Window. In the game, some equipment gives Luck as an additional attribute buff. These attributes affected the player's Evade chance, Critical chance, and Drop Rate items, even!

Avoidance caused by luck is not determined by actually staying away from the attack physically. Attacks may appear to land entirely on the player, but the player will not sustain any damage!

Drop rates have been and will always be a source of frustration for all MMORPG gamers. There was nothing else the player could do but pray to R.N.G. Lord and ask for His mercy. However, when a player has enough of the Luck attribute, the odds are in your favor, especially in terms of the Drop rate. However, Great Luck did not mean that one would find a Heavenly level weapon from a Level 1 Chicken. Luck only involved the predetermined drop table of that monster. For example, if a Chicken has a possible decrease in grade A, B, and C, a high Luck allows a higher chance of producing a decrease in grade A. On the other hand, an unlucky man could only dream of living under the shadow of the A-class decline.

“What ring is this..?” Jiang Fei muttered to himself. He was convinced that the ring was not part of the game. It behaves less like a regular item and more than a hacking tool! It is not recognized by the system, but it works well in the game!

“Sial... I don't really forgive hacking, not to mention how I could be banned from this game... But if it wasn't for this ring, I wouldn't even be in the game, to start!”

The dilemma angered Jiang Fei. However, it is also the only key to playing the game. There's no other way.

At that moment, Jiang Fei had gained a fair understanding of the function of the ring. The mysterious ring devoured the item to "up level". The scar on the surface of the ring is representative of its "bar exp" and the red background in its inventory is the "killing zone". But what about the blue ones?

After thinking about it for a moment, Jiang Fei was unable to give any explanation, nor did he find anything special about it. As usual, he got rid of it and enjoyed his game without a care anymore.

Seven to eight hours later, Jiang Fei returned to the village, bringing all the necessary search items with him. He is still Level 4. Really painful. Dawn Break is a slow and difficult process, because getting a level certainly takes time. It's the same for the drop rate. Even with 10 Luck, Jiang Fei found it extremely difficult to get a good fix on an item he wanted. The search items each took nearly an hour!

“Bless you, adventurer! Blessed You! You have saved me! Please grab this Deer Leather Leather Jacket!”

“Ding! You have completed the quest “Gathering Deer Skin.” 550 Points of Experience. Can Deer Leather Jacket!”

After sending out the first quest, Jiang Fei had obtained a bit of experience points and White level equipment. Although it was very cheap, it was the kind of reward one could expect from a lowly quest in the Beginner Village.

Games categorize equipment values such as: Grey, White, Green, Blue, Violet, and Gold. Beyond that category were also Unique types, Chromatic Evolving Equipment, and lastly, the largest of all, Heavenly class.

The gray equipment had been set as the lowest level in equipment appraisal, as only players in the Beginner Village would equip it. This equipment adds only less than 50% of the basic attributes (TL NOTE: The author does not explain what those basic attributes are). When a player surpassed the Beginner Village, Grey equipment would most likely be sold to NPCs, as they were not even worth using.

White equipment is a simple fixture that provides some basic attributes. No additional will be obtained from them. (TL NOTE: Again, there is no explanation as to what a basic attribute is). Equipment of this grade could be sold to NPCs, but it could also be broken into Metal Ingots and sold to players. Players would then use Metal Ingot as material for their Smithing skills. The final price would be higher than selling the equipment itself.

Green equipment named Fine equipment. They provide 130% of the basic attributes and even provide one or two additional attributes. If the equipment had two additional attributes, it would be classified as Purified among the Fine classes. Most players will walk around with this.

Blue equipment is Superior Class. They provide 150% of the basic attributes, and provide two to three additional attributes. Even if the two additional attributes were the same as the Fine Green equipment, it still gave a percentage of the more basic attributes. If it had three additional attributes, the equipment would be extremely valuable and extremely powerful. As the game reaches maturity with more and more players reaching mid-game content, players will use such equipment will be considered elite.

The next level is encoded in the Violet text, and is called Epic. They provide 180% of the basic attributes and have three to four additional attributes. Likewise, even lower varieties that provide only three additional attributes are already superior to their Blue equivalents. Violet gear is like having a premium sports car like a Lamborghini, or a fancy Birkins handbag. Only a few players can get it. One would become formidable, even among professional players, if they had one Violet level item of equipment in their arsenal.

The Legendary Equipment with golden SMS provided 200% of the basic attributes with an additional four to five other attributes. Like all previous classes, their lower varieties are still superior to those that provide an equivalent amount of additional attributes. (TL NOTE: Repeat ... Repeat ..). As implied from his nickname, it was almost impossible to possess a complete set of Legendary level equipment. Having one of them alone would already turn a player into an idol!

Special and Unique Chromatic Evolving Equipment. They could only be obtained from Hidden Class Quests. Their level of strength was similar to that of Legendary Equipment. What sets them apart is their potential to gain a shared experience with their users. It would be completely foolish if someone threw it away! Also, Hidden Class Quests did not always provide such gems. Unlike Hidden Race quests, which were only limited to 36 in the entire game, Hidden Class Quests were slightly less rare; but they were still very hard to find! One truck needs Luck for this!

Lastly, at the top of the food chain was Celestial Grade. One could only obtain such a level of equipment by killing Gods! His attributes alone could make one dumbfounded and the path to obtaining them was equally shocking.
