Verda was observing Vedra who still kept a flat expression, as if the man was just a kind of creature waiting for the elevator. Until finally there was a tinkling sound followed by the opening of the elevator door.
Vedra immediately stepped out of the elevator, followed by Ican who was still heard joking with Verda.
"Gee, our newlyweds are here!" Nita exclaimed in excitement as Vedra entered the study.
Ican who walked behind Vedra swiftly hooked Verda's hand to his.
"Ohh, thank you, guys!" Ican waved his left hand like a contestant who won the universal beauty queen contest.
"What the hell, Can!" Verda laughed as she took off Ican's hand.
"Yee, you're the one who's excited, Can! You itch!" Teti.
Vedra immediately headed to her desk. He was not too surprised to see a pile of documents that now does not leave empty space even if only to put one cup of coffee.
So did Verda who immediately put her bag on the table, pulled the chair and dropped her ass. There's already a pile of documents on his desk.
Teti visited Vedra's desk, the one-child woman had too much curiosity. Especially after hearing the confession of Ican who happened to meet with Vedra a few days ago.
"Congratulations on your marriage, Ved," said Teti.
"Thank you" said Vedra coldly.
"Aren't you making a show here, Ved?" ask Teti.
"Yes, the hell time you didn't have an event? So we can all recognize your wife who said Ican is very beautiful, sweet and beautiful," said Nita who joined the Vedra desk.
"Hmm, sorry, but we're both very busy" Vedra replied.
"What does your wife do?" ask Nita.
"Friends, excuse me," Verda interrupted two co-workers who were currently interrogating Vedra.
Verda carried a stack of documents that she tightly embraced. Seeing the mountains of documents makes Teti and Nita instantly self-conscious to return to their respective work desks.
"It's a report from the workshop, they're asking you to set up a stock exchange schedule immediately" Verda put down the documents she brought to one of the stacks on the man's desk.
Vedra did not say, the man returned to a mode that was so cute because it was focused on the computer monitor screen.
Verda went back to her desk, for some reason it felt strange. A few moments ago, they were still talking casually.
Well, maybe because of this in the office, so they are actually required to carry out their respective roles professionally.
The notification appears on the Verda monitor screen. Ican sends messages via the company's internal conversation app.
Juliansyah: How Vedra wedding gift?
Verda did not immediately answer, I don't know what to write. The wedding gift should certainly be something he and Vedra can enjoy together. Something that is needed by them rather than having to accept items that are not used or worse just be a kind of taperware on display in the glass cabinet where mothers show off their expensive taperware collection.
Verdanica: I still think
Ican frowned, looking at Verda's cubicle. While looking for gifts, Verda rejected all Ican-proposed goods. As if the gift they were going to give was not for Vedra.
The phone on Verda's desk rang, she answered immediately.
"Morning, Verda," Verda replied cheerfully.
"Verda, please come to my room" said Mr. Handoko.
"Well, sir," Verda replied as she hung up.
Verda stared at herself in front of her hello kitty head mirror before moving from the chair and headed to Pak Handoko's office at the end of the room.
"Please come in" said Mr. Handoko.
Verda immediately sat on one of the chairs in front of Mr. Handoko's desk.
Geck..Geck..
A slow knock from Vedra made Verda turn her head, along with Pak Handoko who invited Vedra to come in and sit on the empty seat beside Verda.
"Vedra, congratulations on your marriage" said Mr. Handoko.
Vedra and Verda suddenly stiffened, as if the marriage they were trying to hide had been discovered so quickly.
"Hm, yes, thank you, sir," Vedra responded.
"Verda, so when did you catch up?" ask Mr. Handoko now turned to Verda.
Verda only commented on the smile along with a sigh of relief because the hidden marriage between him and Vedra must be completely sealed by the company. They agreed to hide the marriage from the company solely to protect Verda's career. Another case with Vedra who has indeed decided to resign in the near future.
"Verda, Ved, I called you both here in connection with the mutation decision I got from the management," said Mr. Handoko.
"What's? Mr. Handoko was mutated to where, sir?" ask Verda.
"I was transferred to the headquarters" replied Mr. Handoko.
"When to start, sir?" ask Vedra.
"From next month" replied Mr. Handoko.
Verda looked at the middle-aged man who held the position of branch manager of Valid Corp. Companies engaged in the petroleum and mining industry sector as its main business line. Companies that have been hiring Verda for the past six years.
"I and the management had a discussion about who will fill my vacancy here, if you have to wait for employees from the headquarters or recruit new employees would take time. So I recommend Vedra to fill my position as the manager of this branch" Mr. Handoko explained at length.
Vedra stunned to hear the words of Mr. Handoko.
"Therefore for now Verda will take back the work of Vedra," continued Mr. Handoko.
Verda was silent, all this time the work done by Vedra was Verda's work. Overload leads Verda to ask co-workers to split her work.
Who would have guessed that three years later the job was back on Verda?
"Sir Handoko, I really do not mind if my promotion is the desire of the management, just frankly I will resign from Valid Corp. in accordance with my employment contract that will expire" said Vedra.
"Yes, I've considered that, but doesn't that mean you can get a new job contract with a position as a branch manager?" Mr. Handoko responded.
"Pak Handoko," Verda interrupted.
"What's up, Verda?" ask Mr. Handoko to turn to Verda.
"Look sir, apologize in advance, I just want to ask, what makes Mr. Handoko recommend Vedra to fill the position as branch manager?" ask Verda.
"Not what, I'm even more senior than Vedra loh, sir, yes, you don't consider me?" Verda continued her question.
"Verda, I certainly have considered many things before recommending someone to replace my position. Honestly, I was impressed by your loyalty and dedication, Verda, just that some aspects make Vedra get more points in the assessment. So that the management finally chose Vedra," replied Mr. Handoko.
Verda commented on his smile but in his heart he of course felt disappointed because his junior would now be his superior.
Isn't this so annoying?!
