2. Room 505

The room was still quiet only heard the sound of machine pulsation that helped the patient still be able to breathe stably.  Two women were still standing next to the man who was drowning. They are praying for the patient's recovery. When there are no more people who can help where else can hope other than "The Sincinpta" They still hope for miracles even though Doctor Riki has said that Papa's time is not long.

Soffie hopes that her older brother actually comes to visit their papa. He was not willing to look at his father who missed Sonny so much and could not find his only son at the end of his life. The patient in bed finally woke up. He can still smile and try

reaching Soffie's face.

"Soffia....

“Papa... Soffie dear papa, “ he said softly while hugging his papa. His eyes looked at his pale face and were filled with breathing tubes and infusions. The man smiled at Soffie.

"So Soffie's been trying to get to Sonny Pa's office, but Sony's sister is on an exit assignment, "I said lying.

Soffie really did not want to see papa sad plus papa's condition is very sick. Mama who was standing next to the bed the patient continued to watch the two while crying silently.

“ Gak papa darling,.....  Papa loves you too. Soffie, have you eaten, honey? Why is your mama still crying ” try to give her a drink son, let mama calm down. Papa wants to talk to mama, phi...

Soffie nodded and gave mama a glass of water to calm her down. Soffie lets papa and mama talk together and tries to leave the room. When Soffie came out, he briefly heard them speak.

“Jeany…

“Iya…

“You must be strong and be able to guide Soffie and Sonny. Forgive Sonny's actions, Jen...

“Mas , you must recover immediately. For their sake mas... Mas must be spirit, there is still a chance as long as you do not give up!

“I think I can be with you for a long time , Jenn.. . I feel like my breath is so tight...

"mas.. mas Yoseph certainly can...  Have mercy on us, mas... Mas must be excited, remember Soffie still desperately need mas Yoseph.., "Teach Jeany while crying.

“Soffie is a good boy, smart and tough.he will always take care of you and keep you company.

Outside the patient room, there was a Long chair and Soffie intended to sit there while looking for fresh air. But Soffie was stunned when from afar two men walked towards her.  The men are Sonny and David. They're walking towards room 505 . Soffie's reflex immediately ran into the room and shouted.

“ Papa , Mama....., brother Sonny has come,” I said happy to see Sonny and David really coming.

I saw papa's face sparkling at my screams that said Sonny came to see papa. Mama smiled happily.  It wasn't in vain that I came to Sonny's office. Mama walked with me to welcome Sony and Brother David.

Sonny was really surprised when he arrived at the door of room 505 . He Shock sees a man who is helpless in a hospital patient's bed. Sonny's legs suddenly stiffened and he could not walk into the patient's room. He just stood in front of the door.  David, standing behind him, pushes his best friend's shoulder into room 505, but Sonny still does not move.

Papa who saw the arrival of Sonny smiled and called him softly.

“Sonny, come here .. “ papa called him rilih , but Sonny still stood until Jeanny approached him.

Jeanny holds Sonny's hand as she pulls Sonny's hand to get closer to the papa who's on the patient's bed. Sonny walked with his hands still held by Jeanny and towards the papa who was still staring at Sony with a happy look on his face. Sonny's hand was placed on papa's palm.

Sonny still can't speak.  Sonny still looks silent and expressionless to see papa who is rolling on a bed filled with breathing apparatus. Mama Soffie remained standing at the end of the bed watching their interactions and not talking anything. Jeany gives the opportunity for the father and son to let go of the longing.

Soffie and David opt out of the room to give papa and Sonny a chance to chat. Soffie smiled at David.

“Thank you brother David, for his help,” I said with a warm smile. “ If there is a brother, maybe brother Sonny wants to come see papa, “ honest word .

Soffie was still smiling while looking at David's handsome face. He just realized this man is really beautiful. Crazy this perfect guy really. must have had a girlfriend.Really dear he's brother Sonny.

“its okay, Sonny's my friend since he was in college in England, so just relax. What about your school?  " Task David again.

David looked at Soffie's face carefully. Her smile is beautiful and her smile is so sweet. Darling is a schoolboy. Soffie is also suitable to be invited to the road, especially if it can be courted. but immediately dispelled his evil thoughts because his brother can rampage. Just looked at this sister, Sonny has glared at him, especially if my sister plays. The evil thoughts David threw away.

David's speech was cut off with Soffie's mama's shout and they immediately ran towards the source of the sound.  I saw that my mom was crying hysterically and that she was standing next to him, Sonny.  Sonny's freshness and inertia showed he still looks also in shock over the departure of papa.

When Soffie and David entered the room papa, they immediately understood what was happening.   Soffie had been more sincere looking at papa's departure but she was still crying and hugging her mother.  David deftly called the doctor and the nurse by pressing the patient's bell because we were all in shock and could not think long.

Papa misses Sonny so much, even when Sony got married 4 months ago, papa was not informed by kakSonny, it is enough to make papa angry to Sonny. Papa has often contacted Sonny but Sonny deliberately cut the communication rope with his papa.

At the end of papa's life. They've turned around and become in the thick of it. I brought my mother who was sitting limp on the floor while Brother Sonny and brother David who handle the management process of hospital administration to papa funeral management.

Soffie doesn't know if there aren't any of them, what else should we do. Mama's mind was in a state of turmoil and I was busy calming the mother who was often unconscious because of papa's departure. I have to be strong and able to take care of my mom.

Sonny POV :

Today was the worst day of my life, the start of a shitty day started with my car grazing on steel which suddenly stopped picking up passengers and resulted in abrasions in my new car.  Amidst my busy work at the office, David the boss' son who became my best friend since college in England dragged a SMU boy and he casually said that my sister came looking for me.

David didn't know that I didn't have a sister, because I didn't like to tell him about family issues, I just told you that I was orphaned and only my grandfather lived in Surabaya.  My grandmother died long ago .  They're both my family, that's all David knew.

Grandfather was very surprised and angry when I came to Surabaya and introduced Dissy as my wife. According to grandfather, I am too much to marry by not bringing his extended family, especially if I still have parents.  But Grandpa quite understands my character, though, that only my grandfather and I could not bring my grandfather to England because his parents were ambassadors in England and at that time Dissy's mother was so sick that I married Dissy on “ London Hospital” .

I deliberately didn't tell papa about my marriage to Dissy, because to me only my grandfather was my family. Dissy understands me well enough and is happy to live and work as a staff at the British Embassy in Jakarta.  We both studied in the UK and graduated together. After leaving college, we lived and worked in Jakarta.

I was shocked and angry when I saw the innocent face of the girl who claimed to be my sister who asked to visit papa. It's good that he told me to come see the sick father, do you ever remember me. Papa is only affectionate with his new wife and her daughter is spoiled.

Papa hasn't cared about me since they were in his life. Papa just came to see me on school holidays with his new family to Surabaya. Where there's papa there's time for me. I was so disappointed in Papa who loved his new family more. When I graduated in England, papa chose to accompany the spoiled child for tonsillectomy.  I hate that girl more than anything. That's why when Soffie came to the office, I drove and I pushed her down.  Cruel..no that's not how compared to my heartache of losing papa.

My best friend David, my boss's son, came in the afternoon to my room and asked me to accompany him to the hospital in South Jakarta area, He said his papa friend was seriously ill and the big boss (david's father) could not visit because he was abroad. The big boss asked David to represent him. So this is an official office task said David, Without thinking I agree, David's sudden invitation.  I called Dissy that I came home tonight and asked her to come home from her own office without waiting for me to pick her up.  Turns out David actually lied to me by saying that his papa friend was sick and I was more and more convinced that he was lying when I saw the spoiled child sitting in front of room 505.

David, who is usually cute and acts arbitrarily in the office, asked me to come in and see papa.  Do your job properly and do not regret it later after your father is not there.  No one knew the age of the man, so David encouraged me to go to room 505 and see papa.   I was surprised that David, who was a famous jerk in dating and took for granted anything can speak wisely and make me obey his words.

When in front of the door to room 505, I was really stunned to see papa who was filled with wires and

breathing apparatus, He was really waiting for me and calling me, but my feet felt stiff and unable to move step towards papa's bed.  That spoiled kid didn't lie to me.

My tears dripped at papa, I didn't expect it to be like that, I thought I thought, the spoiled boy's words were lying and deceiving me. Suddenly someone touched my hand.  The gentle hand of the woman who became my stepmother, she touched me and half pulled me towards the patient bed where papa was helpless.

“ Sonny, come here . “ said papa rilih.

Papa's tears dripped at the end of his eyes. The woman's hand was still holding me and grabbed my hand and put my finger on the hand. The woman then shifted towards the end of the bed while giving me a chance to talk to papa.

“ Sonny... You're okay right? Where is your wife, papa wants to see it.” Papa said while trying to wipe away my tears that began to fall because of the severity of the condition of papa who obtained weak helpless.

"papa bless you son. Papa wants you to be happy, Sonny!"

I really didn't expect papa to be this bad, I felt guilty. How many years had I not seen papa and his physical condition that had drastically changed to be very thin and weak. Once every papa called me, I immediately turned off his phone call. Papa's visit to Surabaya, I avoided it and I instead chose hiking with my school friends. I never wanted to see papa.

“ Don't cry hotshot Papa,” ….You're an adult, son. “ Papa said with contempt by still stroking my face weakly.

“You must be the responsible head of the family" said papa again.!

I was moved and still shed tears, My heart and brain were out of sync again because my brain told me to be firm and not to cry but tears kept flowing. Where's all my hate for papa. Why do I keep crying over this guy.

“Papa.. ,sorry Sonny papa,” I said while shedding tears,

I don't know why I'm such a whiny guy.  I was completely shocked to see the once mighty man and could shout out loud as he scolded me. How long haven't I seen this guy ?  Has he been lying like this for a long time? I was a bad boy since I went to college in England I never picked up all the phones. I never spoke to him and denied him all access to communication. I hate him, but why is that feeling today gone, I want to hug the old man.

“ Sonny, can papa ask you a favor? “ his voice is still sounding choosy but there is still a tone of decisiveness in his speech.

I can only nod my head speechless .

“Papa Just want to titip Soffie, can you take care of him. Can you ask Sonny?” papa said expectantly by looking at my face.

Without thinking Long I nodded firmly, and papa smiled and in a reassuring voice I said:

“I'll take care of Soffie papa,” I see papa smiling happily at my words,

I smiled at Papa, still holding his left hand. Then he looked at the woman at the end of the bed . Suddenly my right hand fell from my face and after that I heard the sound of a ventilator machine that shocked me and the woman shouted , .papa,, papa, I was stunned. Why is it so fast, papa is gone. Why?

So papa was right to wait for me before he left this world. Papa's gone, I'm in shock unable to say, When David and Soffie entered the room papa's treatment, I was still in shock, the doctor asked who was in charge of the patient and saw the woman still stunned

the floor. I just woke up and I had to take over Papa's job of looking after his family. I'm papa's deputy to them. But is it able. I don't like them. I promised Papa I'd take care of Soffie.

Papa's burial was over and he was buried at his resting place. Even the grandfather who lived in Surabaya also attended the funeral of his son-in-law who I did not know that papa often visited grandfather in Surabaya, when I was in college in England.

Grandfather was quite struck to see the first papa who left this world. There is a little regret in my heart for only meeting papa for a moment, I should have called papa long ago. Papa, I promise to take care of Soffie. I'm sorry papa.
